  1. I don't know. I didn't buy it for milage. My last vehicle was an H2 HUMMER so anything is better. And honestly, I couldn't tell you what that got. I buy because I like the look of the vehicle and I needed a truck for a while. Sorry I can't be more specific. If I think about it, I'll track it and post sometime.
  2. Look what I got today...... Interesting. I think they are watching.
  3. Just stopped by my local tire shop to discuss some options on my new old truck. We talked about the new GM trucks and what I've been through. He said that ALL GM trucks are having this vibration issue. Some people feel it or some don't. Some don't drive above 65 or so which is where my vib started. He states that GM knows there are issues but again, won't publicly admit.
  4. Scott- Have you read these posts? Have you read mine? I'm on my third truck now. I've been through all of what you said and more. I'm simply reaching out to GM with a public gesture. Do I think they will? No. Would I like them to? Yes. Would it be a good PR move on there part? Yes. Done with it. I'm happy with my new "old/last model year" truck.
  5. My response to "operating as designed" is this: The the window sticker should state that this truck vibrates at HWY speeds "as designed" so people can make an educated decision on whether to purchase or not. This whole flipping deal has cost me $15k plus time and a lot of BS that one shouldn't have to do when buying a vehicle. GM- I would REALLY like to talk to you. I know you are monitoring this post. Reach out to us on a one by one basis. Show us that you care.
  6. Hey all! It's been a while since my last post so here's what has happened since my new ring and pinion. Vibration seemed fixed with the repair and factory wheels and tires (tested for 2 days of driving) so I put my aftermarket wheels and tires back on. Vibration again. Had them road forced. Still vibrated. Traced to one particular tire and had it replaced. Better but still vibrated. Took to another place for a another road force. Same vibration. Replaced with original wheels and tires. Still had vibration. This Friday last I picked up a 2011 2500 Denali Diesel. 30k miles on it. I am test driving it this weekend. The thing rides and drives like any truck should. Noticeable differences already; You can drive at hwy speeds and have a smooth ride. You can drive at hwy speeds and have just the drivers window down without the "flutter". The climate control doesn't blow cold air when the engine is cold. It "waits" until the engine has temp then blows. The front headlamps don't fog over. The electronics in the display don't lag. The seats are more sturdy. No constant downshift on slight acceleration. (Granted this is a diesel but still, that was annoying...) The list goes on and on. GM- You have issues with your new truck line. Own up to them. Fix the problem instead of burying your head in the sand. I loved the look of my new 2014 but I hated driving it. Literally HATED driving it. That shouldn't be. I will most likely end up with this truck. I like the look and I like the drive. More truck than I need but hey, it's only money.... GM- If you want more info, please reach out to me in a PM. I would be happy to discuss my experiences with your new truck in more detail.... All the best to all that are having issues. It's no fun.
  7. I certainly understand. But we do know that the original ring was out of spec and the new one had 10,000th clearance all the way around. There is no doubt that the shaft had something to do with the vibe as well or they wouldn't have clamped it. I didn't have time to call the dealer today but I will expect a new shaft from the factory "balanced" or take mine to a shop and get it balanced right. I was thinking about this whole thing today on the way to work and I don't think in my adult life I have ever dealt with such an issue. It really is unthinkable and for GM to not acknowledge even here is bizarre to say the least. I'm sure they avoid hornets nests but still......message us on the side. Something....?
  8. No kidding. I was trying to put this in perspective. I have a 2012 Corvette. I wonder if I had a vibration on that if the Chevy dealer would think it would be acceptable to use hose clams on the spinning parts to cure the problem. I highly doubt ANY Vette owner would accept that as a fix. I certainly wouldn't and won't on the truck. If it's temporary, then I'm cool but they gave and truck back as "completed".
  9. Hey all! I thought I was done with this saga but I guess not...... Last night I decided to look under the truck just to see if anything new or different had been done. To my complete amazement I see two flipping hose clamps wrapped around the driveshaft. UN ______INGBELIEVABLE!!! This, my friends, was installed by a GM field engineer. Can you say "Professional Grade"? Why would they not take the time to take the shaft to a shop and have it properly balanced? They had the damn truck for 23 days! What's one more day? Guess where I'll be first thing Monday morning. Have a great Sunday.
  10. AW22- Good to know. Keep us all posted as I'm still following this. Glad to hear GM has acknowledged "somewhat" that they have an issue. As a business owner myself, I'm ok if there is an issue just as long as you "own it". Meaning- Just admit there is a problem and we are working on a solution. Everyone makes mistakes. Not everyone lies or hides. Character goes a long way in my book. Just own the situation. Again, keep us all posted on what you find out and I'm still as nervous as a hooker in church but hoping the vibe doesn't come back. LOL All the best guys! Chappy
  11. The field engineers name or at least his last name is Yoder. I think his first is Dave but I am not certain. They always just called him by his last name so....... I will ask my dealers service manager today as he wanted me to call him and give feedback on the truck. Thanks again guys for all the support and positive comments. I've never done anything like this before (reaching out to a blog) but it sure helped me and I hope others.
  12. Thank you. I am happy. I hope it doesn't come back like we have all witnessed. On yours, have they measured the backlash on each one of the gears? It has to be done while still installed in the truck. They measured my old one first then when the new one came in, they measured it once installed to make sure it was good. My new one measured 10,000ths all the way around. Hope this helps! I really want to start "enjoying" this truck. :-/
  13. Got the truck back tonight. Drum roll........ Fixed. No vibration. Before I took it in you could stand on it from a stop and from 20 to 37 you would have a launch vibration and then it would go away until 67-68ish then vibrate all the way to 98. You do this now and no vibration at all to 98. I have to say I am nervous to post this as I have only driven it about 40 miles but it is not the same as before and if it maintains, I want to put this issue behind me and never deal with it again... Service manage has been GREAT at my dealer. Bob Brown GMC. Could not be happier with them. The FSE was the one who put the truck back together and then did the balancing. For the record so you don't have to back track; New ring and pinion. Old one was 8000ths 3/4 of the way around it then went to 2000ths. The GM FSE has replaced others and actually in our area about 8. After the re installation of the ring and pinion they balanced the driveline. It was 2 ounces off. The shop Forman and GM FSE took it for a test drive and said it was as smooth as any they had ever been in. Again, I don't want to be to premature but it really does seem like a different truck and is like glass..... I certainly hope to not have to deal with this again. I also hope all of you get yours fixed. -All the best! Chappy....
