  1. I'd agree with that statement ... I think I'd also opt for 4x4 even though 98% of the time I'd have to go looking for a place to use it I just like being prepared Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Well I have an update on the ole' 4.3 I've had mine now for 8months and I have 8900 miles on her ... Currently avg. 19.6 MPG if you believe the computer ... I'm 70% around town stop & go style of driving so I'm quite pleased with that estimate ... I have been as high as 22.5 with 50/50 town & highway ... So I would guess if there are any highway commuters they could definitely hit they 25 MPG mark ... Still loving the power and am extremely happy with my choice [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. just notice on your picture you have the two long clamps on one side and the two short clamps on the other...I believe the short ones are for the rear of the bed and the long one's go up towards the cab...probably won't matter but check it out anyway
  4. I have the Retrax pro...no complaints...its the only roll and stow cover that I could find that will locking in any position along the truck bed rails...no leaks we've had a lot of rain lately and I have checked just to make sure...also this cover doesn't require any strap that you must pull to close the lid itself ...all you do is pull on the handle from the drivers side very easy and smooth...also the Retrax pro which I have an hold up to 500lbs on top of it if you so wish too of course I wont but those of you up north with snow may find this appealing? you can open and close the tailgate with this closed in case any are wondering ...mines not the electric version but if you got that it will lock with a fob and will still lock in any position that you stop it in there is also a light kit available but since we all have those fancy under rail lights its not needed...one last thing I ordered mine with the wide rails that sit on top of the bed rails they look better because they cover all the way to the outside of the bed...hope this help someone
  5. I'm definitely not sure how you guys are getting that mileage either ... I just broke the 1200 mile mark on my v6 reg. cab 2wheel dr. sierra and am sporting a 20.4 MPG (which I'm happy with coming from a V8 FX4 4 wheel drive that avg.d 11MPG around town) it is a mix of driving 33% each around town, 33% rural 45MPH stuff and the rest interstate...some is with A/C some is not...I use cruise control when ever possible and I'm definitely not a lead foot, being nice with the new baby...and this is only if the computer is calibrated correctly
  6. I have the Retrax pro... I would advise you to take a look at this cover as apposed to the roll n lock...the Retrax pro can be locked an any position allowing you to put something in the bed and then closing the top right up next to it and then locking it in...the roll n lock I believe only has 3 stops...plus the Retrax pro will hold up to 500lbs. on the top of it, not that I would do that but it shows you how strongly it is made the roll n lock is I believe rated for 200lbs??
  7. here is a 2011 GMC Sierra. Reg Cab, short box. 4.3L V6. with a magnaflow installed
  8. I just purchased the Sierra 1500 reg cab with the V6, all my other trucks had V8's. After driving for 1 week and 600 miles town and highway driving I can say this engine leaves nothing to be desired...it has plenty of power and I am completely satisfied with my purchase...285 HP rated at 7000lb towing capacity these numbers would probably be enough for 50-70% of truck buyers out there, but I also understand some folks just want more
  9. 100 % agree...my last NEW purchase was a 2005 FX4 loaded crew cab etc etc $31,500...today that truck is 47,500...today .at 47 yrs old for some reason I have a different perspective on what truck I need ...so I went to my local GMC / Chevy dealer during the March incentive month...yes I started with the crew cabs V8's loaded you know the one's and I literally for the first time in my life got sticker shock , now I understand 50-75K dollar vehicles you know caddies, BMW's, lexus etc etc but I never envisioned 50K for a pick-up truck excluding dualies with diesels..so you can imagine I was ready to walk away and go look at the used market. But as I was walking away I checked out the Reg. cab, V6 sierra WT which had a convenience pkg, and towing pkg. and a few other odds and ends stickered 29,680K and during the sale was down to 25,600K. after test drive and some online researching I went for it 285 HP, 7000lb tow cap cruise nice radio etc etc ...as Hootbro said this truck is light years ahead of anything remotely considered a W/T 5-10 years ago ..to be honest after driving it for the last two weeks I wouldn't even consider it a W/T ... just my .02
