  1. I haven't seen much talk of modding the v6 except for intake / exhaust on these forums. First mod for most would be the $1095 option for the 5.3, as the v6 was really meant to be the lighter duty eco option for these trucks. What goals did you have in mind? Towing, speed, economy?
  2. I'm all for doing the impossible, but my objection is from another angle- Is the magnetic ride suspension really that much better? If when buying my truck it was offered as a $2000 option I probably would laugh in my salesman's face, probably same result for under a grand.
  3. It's from what i've seen a SDXC issue. I can get the truck to read my 64G card, but it stumbles and fails if i have over about 10gb on it. Have not seen the same issues with a SDHC card. I have a feeling that it can only address the first 32gb of a SDXC card, so if when I copy data on to it from the computer, if it lies in the first 32gb it's fine, the back 32gb it cannot handle the address.
  4. Don't think for a moment that it's going to be a satisfying ride in the mud. The biggest problem is anything you do to the truck is going to make it worse off-road, especially if you have the taller rear end gears (3.08 / 3.23). If you get bigger tires, its going to bog the v6 down even more, add in some sticky mud and it will just get worse. I have a 2wd with the locking diff as well, and the mindset of the features is that they are there to get me out of a surprise tough situation, not to get me into one for the fun of it.
  5. Something had to have gotten on it to soften the rubber, could be as simple as a rag soaked with laquer thinner touched it and caused it to break down. Who knows, but sorry for the loss.
  6. First one I have seen with this kind of wear and tear. I doubt you will have much luck with GM, so I would probably just buy a replacement remote on ebay for about 40-50 bucks. Swap the electronics out so you won't have to bother paying the dealer to program it to the truck for you.
  7. I'm at a bit of a loss here. I've noticed this topic a few times, and I have to ask why don't you just cut / press the existing nut and bolt out of the battery clamp, and replace with a new brass one from the hardware store for under a buck? I understand that our trucks are new, and covered under warranty, and GM should pay to fix them for the first three years, but this is a fifteen minute job, for a bolt.....
  8. Well I stand corrected, my 2000 had one, as does my 14, just assumed they kept them all the way through. Kind of like the rear disc brakes, brought them back for 14 as well.
  9. Yes, all Silverados have had them for about 15 years. Look in the owners manual on page 8-9, it gives pictures on how to access it, it involves removing the glove box door.
