  1. When we built our house we wanted the roofline on the attached garage to match the house so I ended up with a 10 1/2 foot ceiling in the garage. Like you I also wanted lots of room between vehicles so the 2 bay garage is 30 feet wide with 2 - 10 foot wide by 8 foot high doors. With the higher roofline and the larger doors, when viewed from the street, everything looks in proportion to a regular sized garage. It is also deeper, 1 bay is 27 feet and the other is 33 feet - long enough to fit 2 vehicles nose to tail (which we did for over 10 years). Just add another 15 feet to the width if you want 3 bays across the front. If you have the space, use it - you won't be sorry. Bert
  2. This started happening to me a couple of months ago. I figured I would have to reconfigure my phone with the truck and was just waiting for an open day to do that. Did this "change language" thing instead and now I can make calls from my truck again! Bert
  3. Interesting read! http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/gm-to-add-or-keep-7-000-jobs-make-us-1b-factory-investment-1.3244330 An earlier version of the story specifically mentions GM bringing in-house the manufacturing of axles for full-sized pickups. Perhaps they have figured something out. Bert
  4. Just trying to educate myself here but what are the downsides to using "non-lug centric" style lug nuts to prevent pulling the wheel off center to the hub? Thanks Bert
  5. I too tried various combinations of FLAC files and card formatting but I couldn't get it to recognise the FLAC files. My 128 GB SDHC card is formatted as NTFS, not FAT32. Bert
  6. Gotta say - this thing tows like a beast. Can't even tell the trailer is back there. I really mean that. I can't see the damn thing behind me. Makes it tough to back up at the dump. Gotta put a couple of canuk flags back there
  7. FADEC With shuffle already turned on and a song playing, press the "Browse" icon on the left of the screen. On my truck this brings up a ribbon of icons along the bottom of the screen. Press the "Song" icon then press any song that shows up in the list. That song will start playing and all the other songs on the SD card will follow randomly. I usually go on a 5,000km camping trip once a year and this works great. You can use the little paddles behind the steering wheel on the left side to advance to the next random song. Bert
  8. I've been using a 128 GB SDHC Card for the last 2 years with no problems. The only issue I have is when I reinsert the card into the truck after adding more music to it I have to turn shuffle back on. I have just under 10,000 mp3's taking up about 85GB of space on the card. When I go to use a voice command the system tells me that I have too many media files to use the Play Song command. I can successfully use the Play Album or Play Artist voice commands though. But I usually just leave it on random shuffle...never know what song is coming up next! Bert
  9. It's a full size Kingston 128GB Class 10 SDXC https://www.amazon.ca/Kingston-Digital-Secure-SDX10V-128GB/dp/B0090J5XLS/ref=sr_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1461179921&sr=1-8 I formatted it as NTFS and it works great, even though NTFS is not listed in the description on Amazon. I do have both 32GB and 64GB microSD cards. I don't use these in my truck. The 32GB ones came with an adapter but the 64GB didn't. If I put the 64GB microSD card in the adapter that came with the 32GB microSD card it treats the 64GB card as 32GB. So there must be something about the adapters.
  10. I've got a 128GB SD card in my center console, formatted as NTFS, with 85+ GB of MP3's with jpg's for the album artwork. Has worked flawlessly for almost 2 years. Set it for random when I go on the annual 5,000 km camping trip and never hear a repeat. The only thing I have found is when I reinsert the SD card after adding new music to it, I have to manually set up random play again.
  11. Hi there I have a 2014 LT 4x4 crew cab with a short box, 5.3L and the max tow package. According to the manual the max tow gives me an additional 2,200 lbs of towing capacity over the non-max tow version. Going to a 6.2L max tow gives the same towing capacity as the 5.3L max tow. So for my setup there is no advantage, from a towing capacity perspective, to get a 6.2L max tow over the 5.3L max tow. Bert
  12. Don't go by the tounge weight in the brochure. Ask the trailer dealer to weigh the tounge on the lot (my RV dealer has a tounge scale about the size of a coffee can). The brochure for my 28 foot trailer said 795 but the actual was 1050. Dry weight is just over 6500. That said, my trailer is just under 7000 loaded and is comfortable to tow with my 14 CCSB 1500 with the max tow.
  13. Hi there I've just completed a 3 week, 5,000 km trip towing a 8,500lb 28 ft trailer with my 14 CC with max tow (which includes the integrated brake controller). I did the same trip 10 years ago with a 3,500lb 21 ft trailer and a 2000 Astro van with an aftermarket, time-based brake controller. I LOVE the integrated brake controller. Braking was so smooth it was difficult to tell that I had a trailer behind me. With the previous aftermarket controller I always had to worry about long braking distances and locking my trailer tires. Not once on the recent trip did I have that concern. For me, I will not go back to an aftermarket controller. Bert
  14. Hi there I'm using a Kingston 128GB Class 10 SDXC formatted as NTFS. I currently have 8,740 MP3's and 638 500x500 jpg's on the card using 82.8GB of space. The first time I insert it into my '14 Silverado it takes a bit to load but after that, whenever I start my truck the music is available right away. Just completed a 5,000 km, 3 week long trip towing my trailer, listening to music all the way and no glitches at all. Album covers and MP3 info all displayed correctly. When I first got the SDXC card it was formatted with ExFAT which the truck didn't seem to like. Reformatting to NTFS seems to have done the trick. Check out how your card is formatted. Bert
  15. Like pjb0422 I ordered mine direct from the factory and they shipped it to Canada no problem. Price was $820 plus shipping which put it right in the middle of 2 price quotes I got locally. But both local dealers tried to talk me out of it because they didn't want the hassle of placing an order when they had another brand that would fit my CC in stock. The excuses they gave were lame too! One said it was too heavy for one person to fold open without getting into the truck, the other said it was too light for our winter climate!!! I much prefer to support local businesses but not when they try to screw me over! The cover works great. You'll enjoy it! Bert
