  1. So, that’s why when we went back to get copies of our previous work orders they had all our filed printed internal service paperwork marked with “DO NOT CONTACT CUSTOMER”. They accidently left our file open and sitting out on a service writers desk while they printed us a copy and what they handed us did not have “do not contact customer on it.” Very interesting.
  2. Be very wary of what you do with that request. That’s the route we took and all it did was cause more problems for us. After “GM Customer Care” got involved on here, two of our local dealers didn’t even want to come anywhere near our truck. When we tried to take it back in to the dealership we purchased it at for repairs we were “refused service for a mandatory factory recall update under warranty” and we even had the GM factory recall letter in hand at the time. We took it to another local dealer we had never been to before but it seems the service manager knew about our truck in advance. After we gave him all our info he told us to take our truck somewhere else, they weren’t going to write it up, they weren't going to look at it, and he didn’t care that it was under warranty for a mandatory recall they didn't want it.From that point on we had to take our truck to a dealer out of our local area to get it looked at. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/162450-does-your-2014-do-this/
  3. I haven’t been on the forum for some time but we do continue to get updates emailed to us on this topic. We no longer own a GM but ours was the 1st model year K series and it was nothing short of a nightmare. These trucks are definitely a buyer beware and you will not get any backend support from GM on these issues. They know what’s happening yet just choose to ignore it. After repeated trips to our dealer with the same issues and getting sent packing each and every time we decided to start a daily journal of any issue that would arise with our truck. Here is a link to our journal thread: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/162450-does-your-2014-do-this/ Please be aware that our problem log gets “very repetitive”, take note of the dates but same issues. It was our goal to log the problems as they would pop up and not just skip over them because we already had them written down. We wanted to show our dealer what we were dealing with on a "daily basis" in our truck. So again, please keep this in mind when looking at our problem log thread linked above. We even took videos of some of the issues to show the dealer, some of the problems even showed themselves on ride-a-longs with a mechanic and they agreed that there were definitely problems. Even with the video proof, mechanic witnessing it in a ride-a-long the same thing happened every time we took it in for repair, “your truck didn’t show any error codes. Sorry, we can’t fix it without a code”. My favorite line from the dealer was “GM doesn’t pay us to diagnose your problems”. We took a HUGE loss when GM bought back our defective truck as a lemon and we have a feeling but no proof they lied to us about not knowing they had issues with the K series the entire time. As far as the verified GM representatives on this forum that want you to privately PM them about your problems, be very warry. In our instance, once the GM representatives on here got involved with our problems. That’s when “several” local GM dealers just flat out refused to take our truck in for repair even though it had an active computer system recall update that needed to be done. Yes, you read that correctly they would not take it in for mandatory warranty repairs. At that point we had to solely rely on the GM rep to set up an appointment for us at an out of the area dealer since our local dealers would no longer help us. We hope some of you find this information useful.
  4. You are not alone - we should have NEVER traded in our 2002 Avalanche....
  5. Our 2014 5.3 was recently repurchased by GM and had this same problem along with a very long list of other issues. We noticed that our truck surged more often when the outside ambient air temperature was over 90-95 degrees and while it was in the drive position with the brake depressed (like at a stoplight). Another thing we noticed is that the outside air temperature digital display on our MyLink screen would always be reading considerably lower than the real outside air temperature while it was having the surging issues. In most cases our air temperature display would be stuck at 88 degrees or lower even though the outside temperature was around 105+ outside. (Just a shot in the dark here) but from what we have seen, we thought it might be some sort of ECM fuel mixture error going on that takes temperature into consideration but the only thing we ever got back from the dealers mechanic was “no codes, can’t fix it”. Top grade 91, 89, and 87 octane premium fuels had no effect on our particular idle surge problem. Close to the end before the buyback the only thing we found that kept it from surging all the time was to run full tanks of E85 in it. While using 89 or 91 octane gas the engine would try to idle at 500 and then drop down to around 250 to 300 then back up (rinse and repeat) but while we were using the E85 it would hardly drop rpm at all while we were idling at stoplights. At least "in our case" the E85 made it bearable. Hope this helped…
  6. GM now calls that “Torque Management” and they will hand you a copy of a service bulletin that says “working as intended”. Don’t worry its “learning” your driving style. ~ Sarcasm ~
  7. On our 2014 LTZ-Z71 the smooth plastic piece that is in-between the front dash speaker grills (the part of the dash that almost touches the windshield) has started to warp and now protrudes above the padded dash in two spots at the seam.(OUR TRUCK IS LESS THAN 1 YEAR OLD!) Since this happened “most”, but not all of our snap, crackle, pop has subsided. The plastic warping makes the dash look like crap but the window rock strike sounds are not as bad now. We can also confirm popping/cracking sounds coming from the plastic cover/trim piece that surrounds the backside of the radio knobs.
  8. Add us to the list ours is doing it too and then some. We get told by the dealer "No codes - it didn't happen!" http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/162450-does-your-2014-do-this/
