  1. At least I got an extended warranty out of it after multiple trips to the dealer to meet with GM engineers and Zone Mgrs. The warranty however doesn't extend the 5 yr 100,000 mi. on the drivetrain. You may want to try and get that out of them or maybe contact a lemon law attorney depending on the miles on your truck and the age.My dealer has been more then helpful and I think they were involved in getting the extended warranty. I think the plan was called PLATINUM and it's bumper to bumper for an additional 5yrs and 50000 miles from the date they approved it. I was told the warranty was over $2000.00.
  2. You will find like the rest of us that GM has decided that this humming sound is "acceptable" to them. Three engineers, one Zone Mgr< five trips to dealer, lots of time wasted to hear that the noise is O>K> with them. That's after two loaner Silverados didn't make any noise at all. That's the kind of service a three time repeat Silverado owner can expect from GM. Then you can take it to another dealer and have them tell you it's tire noise and the engineers were wrong. They will run you in circles til your warranty runs out then the rear end will fail. That's where the problem lies. Pinion gears and shims and rear-end gears.
  3. I hope you guys all have better luck then me on this "humming above 45mph" issue. I've been told my Silverado humming noise is normal operating noise by 3 GM Engineers. I've also been told after the diagnosis by the engineers that the noise was tiore noise. This from a GM technician at another dealer. That's after a zone mgr and another GM engineer told me it was "harmionic Distortion" before they changed the yoke to no avail. This is all experienced on the "QUIETEST SILVERAD EVER PRODUCED" by GM. All I can say is Forget It when it comes to getting your noise issue corrected. I've seen but one post where it was corrected by a Technician whoi took the tinme and effort to fix it. When I sent that pst to GM they agreed to let me go to another dealer for a diagnoseis. I gave that dealer the post and was amazed to have the Tech tell me all the previous engineers and managers were incorrect and it was road noise that just happened to start about 50 mph and amazingly go away at about 65mph.
  4. I posted about the same loud humming noise above 45 mph earlier. I met with the GM zone mgr two weeks ago and he contacted GM engineers. I was told it was an issue they were aware of and they had a fix for it. They are sending out a new Yoke and universal joint and have advised that that is the fix. Still haven't got the parts in. This is happening to my 2014 Silverado 5.3 with 3.42 rears.
