  1. I just bought an 09 Silverado WT 4WD 4.8 4L60E 3.42 gears 18" tires. 65000 miles. Nice truck. I bought it to replace an ageing 99 Silverado WT 4WD 4.8 4L60E 373 gears 16 tires and 265,000 miles. Still runs just great, but rusty and is in semi retirement. Only has to plow my lot. I towed a small RV with the old one and found the Tow Haul a wonderful towing aid. The 09 is a disappointment because the Tow Haul simply doesn't work. It doesn't even unlock the convertor when I tap the brake pedal. It has been to the dealer 4 times and I am always told the test gauges say it is working as GM designed it. But when driven it simply doesn't work at all. Has GM "tuned" this feature down or changed it's usefulness? What can be done to make this work as my old 99? Thanks Arnie [email protected]
  2. Evan if I can not feel the convertor unlocking, it should show on the tach. Also if I apply throttle should the RPM'''s rise until it relocks? Thanks Arnie
  3. Doesn't stepping on the brake pedal unlock the convertor?
  4. Got truck back from dealer. After extensive testing and a call or two to GM Engineering it has been decided that there isn't anything wrong with my truck. On the way from a dead stop using moderate throttle and with tow haul activated the 4L60E shifted thru all four gears and locked the converter. Doesn't seem right. Also noticed the converter doesn't unlock when tapping brake pedal. All fuses are good and the brake lights work. I was unable to find anything about it in the owners manual. My 99 does but I don't know if this 09 should. Thanks..Arnie 09 Silverado WT 4.8 4L60E manual transfer case. 3.42 gears and 18" tires. 66K
  5. As I said in the post, I want to eliminate all the extra brake line and the labor to install. It is my intention to run a line from the master cylinder directly to the rear brakes and the same for the front. That should give me good brakes and certainly enough to plow snow on my half acre parking lot. The fuse isn't of any concern. Thanks
  6. I have a semi retired 99 Silverado (new sheet metal) that only plows snow in my parking lot. No longer even licensed or insured. We carry fuel to it in a can. Lots of very rusty brake lines. (265,000 miles) None blown yet, but the temp is still; in the 60's. The ABS brakes are not useful when plowing snow at 5 mph. I could get done much quicker if I bypassed the ABS unit and hooked the lines directly to the master cylinder. I think that would be the rear axle to the front port and the front brakes to the rear port on the master cylinder. Correct me if I'm wrong. Anybody ever done something like this and how did it work? Thanks.. Ziffel
  7. Thanks, Do you know if the sensitivity of the Tow Haul can be adjusted up and down and how is it done. Is it something I can Do? I am used to my 99 Silverado. It works very well. This one has never worked. Thanks Ziffel
  8. I don't have a place to get the info. Do you have a suggestion? And what does DTC mean? thanks
  9. Not the steering column switch or harness. Check them visibly and with continuity light. Tell me more about the brake pedal switch. Is it part of the stop light switch or a separate device? When I push on the tow haul button the indicator on the cluster is on but it has no effect on the transmission. Loaded or unloaded at any speed. It hasn't worked since I got the truck. The dealer said it is just fine. Quote .."It is operating within the parameters set by GM for that truck that year" I have driven other 09 Silverado's and they work just fine. Mine is a 1500 WT 4.8. Did GM tamper with them in an effort to raise fleet mileage numbers or for some other reason. If so what can be done? I bought this truck to tow an RV so the tow haul is important. Thanks..Ziffel
  10. I thought there were some "gifs" posted with this topic. I don't see them now. I'm having trouble with my 09 tow haul and that info may help. Thanks Ziffel
