  1. Ok. GM. What was/should be fixed? Answer that and i order another.
  2. Thats great. What is the problem and how can we fix it? That remains the question. Ordering another unit and hoping that you get a good one doesnt work for me.
  3. You guys are smarter than i am. Figuring out the sound issue one test at a time. I wanted to just drill a hole in the back door to let the pressure out. Wife said the dealer probably would not appreciate it. Looking forward to a resolution.
  4. Hi Andraya. Any update from the GM folks? This has got to be something simple i would guess and i still have a check ready and willing to buy a new yukon. Any sort of status update would be welcomed. I think folks on here would applaud a direct line of communication with folks working on this so our faith in GM is restored. Are they afraid to talk with us about it? The biggest frustration is GMs silence here.
  5. Ladies and Gents I have a story for you.. Let me start off by saying that this all started about 4 months ago in a county far far away. I placed an order with a small town dealer (which by the way I really like and will certainly do business with them in the future, the are great people and in all ways wish them the best of business success) for a Yukon XL SLT 4x4 no sunroof, 18" wheels.. All is well and the wife is excited about it. We then proceed to rent a suburban in the land of fruits and nuts (California) for use over a weeks vacation and thats when we noticed the pressure issue to the point of returning the suburban to get something that would not cause such head pressure, dizzines etc in my entire family. I thought that maybe that was a fluke until I found this forum that discussed the exact issue I was having with the rented suburbans. I proceeded to tell the dealer that I was not a buyer but unfortunately this unit was already in line and cancelling was not a possibility. At this time, I very clearly outlined why I wanted to cancel, he did look into it for me with some GM folks somewhere but found nothing. Meanwhile, the unit is being bult. (Nov 9th build date, 2015i, cool wireless charging pad, a very nice interior by the way, nice job with that GM (no sarcasm, it is very nice)). Dealer calls, says I know you didnt want it but come drive it and maybe it will be all perfect and you will give me your check for $65,000 OTD +/-. He hands me the keys says come back before dark (as I told him that I needed a very long test drive to make sure this one had no issues). My dear wife (the boss) says lets go and off we went down the road. 1-25MPH no major issues except is sounds like you are inside a cave. Kind of a hollow sound and you can hear every little bump in the road from the suspension as a pressure change in your ear. As we leave town and I can accelerate a bit, it begins, the wife looks at me and says there it is. At about 40 or so, the truck has that pulsating pressure in your ears like you cant clear your ears on take off. All windows are closed, radio off both of us silent. (Imagine plugging your ears lightly with your fingers and talking and get the idea that you are talking in a vacuum and you hear every little thing as a pulse of pressure on your eardrum, I mean everything, like little bumps in the road, gravel etc because you cant clear your ears no matter how hard you try). We made it about 10 miles out of town and said lets at least try this for a short jaunt on a dirt road (as we have about 20 miles of dirt road to go on every day). As soon as we left the pavement the sound of the cattleguard was so loud in the cabin (as an increase in pressure on the ears not a literal loud sound) my wife said we have to stop so I can catch my breath. As soon as we open the door and stop the pressure is "released" and the pressure almost resets to zero (hard to explain). She looked at me and said we have to get back to the dealer soon. I turn around drive it into town (opening windows every once in a while to "reset" the pressure) and promptly hand the keys to the dealer. He was obviously very dissapointed (as were we) because it really is a heck of a nice rig. At that moment, my wife begins to walk around the lot trying to avoid throwing up (this part of the story is without a happy ending) . I was dizzy and could not clear my ears for about two hours after the test drive and she is not feeling well still (after about 4 hours). You can call me overly dramatic, full of organic matter or anything in between but this unit is unsafe to drive by anyone sensitive to these changes in pressure. I tried very hard to hear anything at all in the speakers and could not. I tried to hear anything but the pulsating pressure in my ears would be so distracting that driving was the last thing on my mind. I actually told my wife, this pressure issue makes me irritable (to say the least) and very uncomfortable. So in conclusion (just like my 3rd grade teacher told me to write, an intro, the body and a conclusion or something like that), I really dont think it is in the radio, I think that they have made these cabins so darn tight with their multiple seals etc that it sounds like sound waves cannot escape (does that make sense?, hey I am a rancher not an engineer). The longer we drove it the more intense it became until we opened windows and then it would get better for the next 20 seconds or so until it built up again. Anyway, I have rambled on a bit I reckon but will chime in here some more later. My wife really does not feel well, and yes due to the test drive. Sorry GM you need to figure this one out. In the meantime what do I get to haul my herd of kids around? What about a bluebird school bus? GM, I have a check for you for $65K do you want it or do I go elsewhere? Get this fixed and we can do business. Its a heck of a nice rig with a very serious flaw (in my mind, pulsating at the moment).
  6. If we did find that this was the issue, the real question is will GM listen and do something about it? Andraya want to chime in here? Will anyone at GM who reads this have the courtesy of a response?
  7. Wow. I learn something new everyday. Ok. So I checked all the trim levels of suburbans/yukons and found that only the LS chevy could come with a plain jane 6 speaker stereo and not the audio pilot nonsense from Bose. So I guess at this point, does anyone have a LS chevy that makes this sound with the 6 speaker audio system? Or does this trim level also have some sort of "make noise to not make noise system" as well. They claim all over the websites that this is the quietest SUV on the planet but yet they have to use this nonsense to make that happen? OK.. Someone just turn off that damn V4-V8 thing, turn off the ear fooling sound thing and make this all go away. Someone aught to know how to make that happen with a programmer or maybe a GM tech who wants to help out.
  8. But the suburbans that we drove with the issue didnt have the noise canceling system in them. They were fairly basic trim level packages. I am not sure that is the issue ( or this issue)
  9. I found this article very interesting. Does not bode well for GM at this point. This is a copy of an article found on carcomplaints.com November 20, 2014 — Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne has filed a lawsuit against General Motors that could possibly cost GM $3 billion. Filing the 125-page GM lawsuit on behalf of the residents of Arizona, the attorney general claims the automaker constantly concealed numerous safety defects for a decade, all to save money. The "New" GM The Arizona lawsuit against GM separates the "old" GM and the "new" GM, with the "new" GM incorporated in 2009 after the automaker filed bankruptcy. After receiving billions in a U.S. government bailout, the new GM bragged it was changing its old culture and was building the best and safest vehicles in the world. The relentless marketing caused vehicle sales to increase, all while the public believed the "new" GM was actually new. However, the Arizona lawsuit says it was all an illusion created by GM as the automaker continued to conceal numerous safety defects. Calling the number of concealed defects "astounding," Arizona says along with the disastrous ignition switch defects, GM vehicles are laced with defective airbags, seatbelts, brakes, brake lights, electronic stability control, windshield wipers, sensing and diagnostic modules and warning chimes. While allegedly hiding the ugly truth from the public, the new GM walked in the footsteps of its past by training personnel to never use certain words. Many of the words relate to safety, such as "defect," "stall" and any other words that would indicate a safety defect. Additionally, safety-related words were not to be used in "technical service bulletins" which were sent to GM dealers about how to repair vehicles. According to Steve Oakley, who drafted a GM service bulletin related to ignition switch defects: “The term ‘stall’ is a ‘hot’ word that GM generally does not use in bulletins because it may raise a concern about vehicle safety, which suggests GM should recall the vehicle, not issue a bulletin.” Arizona says other GM personnel confirmed what Oakley said, saying “there was concern about the use of ‘stall’ in a TSB because such language might draw the attention of NHTSA.” The complaint further alleges employees were trained in how to choose the cheapest part suppliers without the safety of owners in mind. The lawsuit doesn't let current CEO Mary Barra off the hook, either. Recently GM claimed only lower level engineers knew about the defects, something the state of Arizona says is false. In one example, Barra was told in 2011 about a defect in the power steering of several models. Barra was in charge of product development in 2011, but despite 30,000 warranty claims and almost 5,000 complaints about power steering problems, GM didn't admit the problems until 2014. Saying GM has an "abysmal safety record" submerged in a "culture of deceit," the Arizona lawsuit says the new GM's way of dealing with safety defects is to ignore them. Based on internal documents and congressional testimony, the new GM allegedly lives by two codes: The GM "salute" and the GM "nod." The GM Salute A crossing of the arms and pointing outward towards others, indicating the responsibility belongs to someone else. The GM Nod CEO Barra describes the GM nod as what happens when everyone nods in agreement to a proposed plan of action, but then leaves the room with no intention to follow through. Meaning, nothing gets done. While GM managers were busy saluting and nodding, the lawsuit alleges GM's blatant lies caused consumers to invest in vehicles the automaker knew would decrease in value more than advertised. According to the state of Arizona, the 2010 and 2011 Chevrolet Camaro have a diminished value of $2,000 when compared to the value of comparable vehicles; the 2009 Pontiac Solstice has diminished $2,900 in value; the 2010 Cadillac STS had diminished in value by $1,235 in September 2014; and the 2010 Buick LaCrosse had diminished by $649 in that same month. GM is expected to strongly defend itself in court by denying Arizona's accusations, but GM will eventually have to explain the reasoning behind its massive advertising campaigns since 2009. “[W]hen lives are on the line, you need a dependable vehicle you can rely on. Chevrolet and GM ... for power, performance and safety.” - Taken from a 2013 national GM advertisement
  10. This is even more concerning for me. I have 5 miles of rough dirt road from the town to our front door. I cannot imagine how uncomfortable this would be if we had the buffering noise on the pavement and didnt even have a chance to make it to the dirt. If the roof rails are coming loose on "city" use trucks it sounds like my roof wont be around long after a year on my roads. My question remains, if they have a "fix" for this problem in the new production units why doesnt GM simply tell us what the problem is so we can rest easy and move on. GM where are you? Are you hiding again? You see how that turned out with the ignition issue. Step up to the plate!! Some communication here...
  11. I have been waiting by the sidelines for some time now just hoping that someone at GM would set aside their boiler plate "customer satisfaction" hand book and tell us what the issue is with these trucks. At bare minimum it would restore a bit of confidence that my $70k investment (potentially) in your product is appreciated and just maybe my little piece of your corporate gross income is enough to garner a straight answer out of you. Please do not forget that my tax dollars kept you afloat when times were tough and all you have for me when i am trying to get a straight answer is more corporate nonsense. You give me a real answer and i give you my check. Fair enough?
  12. Same here. When i know its corrected, will talk about an order.
  13. Makes me sick thinking of the issues you are having. I really am sorry to hear it. I guess that solidifies my concerns that the dealer is thinking that the metal roof to rib detachment is the cause of the interior sound issue. He showed me the fix that we have all seen, but I continue to think that they are indeed two separate issues and not necessarily related. I have 40 miles of dirt road to drive every single day I cannot imagine the rattles that would exist in this SUV after a year of that. Best of luck with it. I am eager to see how they are going to make it right for you.
  14. Agreed. Why would you buy back any units you have a fix for? Still dont know what specifically the problem is? I wont hold my breath.
  15. Was just told by my dealer that all vehicles that left the plant after July 17 should have had the issue corrected. Still not sure exactly what the issue is/was. Is it the roof or something else? Anyone chime in here with a build date after 7/17?
