  1. Here are my personal numbers, and I am not some Ford/FCA slappy paid to go to message boards and bash other OEMs products. I BBB'd my 2014 Silverado. It was replaced with the same 2015 Silverado. I test drove 12-13 Sierra and Silverado trucks before selecting one...ALL of them vibrated. I just got a check for $37k from GM. I bought a competing truck with that $37k (not even going to mention the brand). Finally, I have 2 friends that I have helped get started with their BBB cases against GM...think about how many people out there that have this same problem and either deal with it, or don't know what to do to get it resolved. It takes quite a lot of work to go through the BBB process...let alone understand how to even get started. This problem is on WAY more than 10-20% of these trucks. I know because I have driven 14 of them myself and they ALL vibrated. Start a BBB case, save all service documentation, follow the steps and force GM to buy the truck back from you if you are unhappy. This is your only way out.
  2. Quick update. Truck number 2 (my 2014 was BBB'd and MSRP traded for 2015). After final repair and no fix, my GM business resource contact called within a week offering me basically anything I asked for. I could pick between full MSRP trade or repurchase. I chose repurchase...done with this mess. I'm not saying other trucks are perfect...but I cannot continue this cycle of dealing with trucks that are proven to be built with faulty parts, vibrate on the highway, etc...I have to move on and give another OEM a shot. All in all I drove 2 new trucks for a total of 25,000 miles, and will be losing around $2k total after lemon law usage fees, for mileage before first service visit on the 2015. That's about $80 a month on a 2 year lease, pretty sweet. Mix in the frustration, and we can call it even. This may be my last post here, so I would just like to say...for those still dealing with this issue, and want out, the BBB works. It has worked twice now for me. Keep all service records, be calm and cool with your dealership, as well as with any GM reps you have to speak with. The squeaky wheel gets the grease...post YouTube videos under an account with your real name...GM monitors these things and will make note of who is keeping quiet, and who is driving business away from them via social media. The more noise you make, the easier it will be for GM to give you what you want, especially if you want your money back (my theory). GM was very difficult the first time around. They made multiple terrible offers before finally (the day before our arbitration date) giving in and offering full MSRP replacement. The second time around, I made as much noise as possible on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc...and within a few days of my final repair they were already offering me full MSRP or a repurchase. Good luck to all, I am moving on.
  3. The only way to work it out is to start a BBB case, take your truck in for the amount of repair attempts you are legally required to do in your state, based on lemon law (4 in Michigan), file BBB complaint online, save ALL repair and service paperwork, tell BBB your truck still shakes after "final repair attempt", setup arbitration date, wait for GM to call 1-2 days before your arbitration date and admit defeat, get your money back or new vehicle. This process is 100% FREE, just takes a little time and leg work. There are more details, but this is the only way to get out of this mess. I have (almost) gone through the entire process twice now. They fooled me into taking another truck the first time, not this time...I know better. I test drove a dozen trucks when searching for my free replacement 2015...THEY ALL SHOOK ON THE HIGHWAY. All of them. I couldn't believe it. I ended up picking the smoothest of the bunch...which ended up getting worse as time went on. Stop spending your own money on guestimate fixes. Stop spending your own money on new tires. Get the BBB involved, and get yourself out of this nightmare of a purchase.
  4. The gas pedal vibration is why GM did a MSRP exchange with me on my 2014 Silverado Crew All Star. They have no real fix for this, and never told me what caused it...after 4 service visits and a BBB case. It takes a bit of time and effort, but the BBB is your only way out if you are unhappy with your truck...and it DOES work. Keep all your service visit paperwork, start a BBB case, and work with your BBB agent. It is 100% FREE.
  5. Tire size doesn't matter. I've been going through this for 2 years now and am on second Silverado, soon to be third if they do not give me a full buy back this second BBB case. The rear axle fix will correct the 40-50mph vibe in steering wheel, mostly felt during a coast to stop. That is NOT the vibration other people feel at 70-80mph. This problem, GM has no fix for other than replacing tires, removing body and rebalancing, removing engine and remounting, etc. I test drove 11-12 (lost count) Sierra and Silverado trucks while searching for my MSRP replacement as part of my BBB settlement. It took that many to find one that didn't vibrate. And, after about 1000 miles, it also started vibrating. In my experience they ALL have the problem of 75+mph vibrations. Also, this story ran last night in Detroit: http://www.clickondetroit.com/automotive/some-drivers-complain-of-vibrations-in-chevy-full-size-suvs I wish they would have ran one regarding the pickup truck vibration problems...maybe that will be next.
  6. I have gone through the MSRP trade assist after BBB case...from 14 to 15. During my search for a 15, I test drove no less than 12 Sierra/Silverado trucks. All but 2 vibrated...and one of the 2, the one I have now...it vibrates just like the others. You cant even be sure when you test drive that the truck won't eventually develop problems. Arbitration date is being set for my 15. Wonder if the same thing will happen...GM waits until 1-2 days before arbitration, calls you and hands you the win without a fight (this is what happened the first time I went though this). Anyone actually gone to arbitration? I know there have been 1 or 2 people claiming they actually went...but I don't believe those posts as they sound fake...almost like GM reps trying to scare people into thinking customers always lose arbitration. The vibration saga continues...
  7. Few weeks after opening BBB case...GM called and offered...get this...2 car payments and an extended warranty! MY TRUCK IS PAID OFF. I paid cash, there is no money owed on it. Do they even do any research before calling people? Anyhow arbitration is next. How has this been going for people? Last time I was told that someone from GM would call 1-2 days before the arbitration date was set, and offer exactly what you were asking for (full MSRP trade for people that bought under GM discount)...and exactly that happened. Wonder if this is still the case, or if they are fighting back more and actually going to the arbitration meetings now? I don't know how or why they would. How can you deny the truck is a lemon when it had to have multiple tires exchanged with new, rear axle exchanged with new, body removed from the frame and remounted...etc...Anyone can get in this truck and feel the vibrations, and rubbing noises. My vibes have been getting worse as time goes on. Now between 68-72 there is a rubbing/grinding/vibe thing going on that reminds me of the gas pedal vibration I had on the first truck. This one is a constant vibration...whereas last time it was a pulsing vibration. The saga continues. Will GM ever learn to build these trucks properly (without defective parts)?
  8. This also happened to me. I remember lightly tapping the gas (traveling around 10mph), letting off the gas slightly, then hitting the gas again..and the transmission felt like it freaked out...like it got stuck in 5th gear and the truck wouldn't accelerate...made loud noise and vibrations...similar to those felt during V4 mode. This has happened only once on my truck to this degree...but a handful of times where it only made the noise for a short time...letting off the gas and re-applying it gets rid of the condition. Definitely like the trans gets tripped up and doesn't know what to do.
  9. I can't call anyone a liar...all I can do is speak from experience. I have driven exactly 14 Silverado/Sierra trucks (MY 14-15). Every single one vibrated. They all vibrate differently because these aren't cookie cutter clones of one another. There are allowable tolerances on every single part. Every truck...even 2 that are the exact same (same color, options, everything), are a little different. There are design issues, as well as bad batches of parts. That's why it's difficult for a lot of service departments to diagnose the problems. Also, due to design issues, some problems are impossible to correct. That's why GM is giving up and MSRP trading these things without a fight! Fill out a BBB case online...wait...talk to GM reps on the phone...wait...set an arbitration date...wait...1-2 days before your case you will get a call from GM and they will give up and give you what you ask for. Do not settle for anything less! They will offer you 2-3 crappy deals. Do not give in...go the distance and watch and see what happens. They know they screwed up...and they will not waste their time/money on going to arbitration knowing they will lose. You don't see more posts like this because most people, after settling and getting what they want, do not come back here and explain the outcome...hundreds are doing this. You should do the same if you have this problem.
  10. The bad rear axles cause the infamous buzz/grind/vibe noise and feel that is mostly felt in the floor and steering wheel. Don't forget the gas pedal vibe (still have not heard of any fix for this one, and was the root cause for my BBB case on first truck). Then there's those Goodyear SRA tires. One of numerous parts these trucks were built with that are out of spec (or large batches of them at least). What garbage tires. For anyone not prepared, these will be done in 30-40k miles. They're way too soft to be original equipment truck tires. Trash. We then have the body mounts...said to be redesigned and made of a more rigid plastic material which let all the vibrations into the cab. Is the truck operating as it should, and are the mounts to blame? If GM spent a little more on nice rubber mounts would this have never been an issue? Who knows. The BBB is the way to go...start your cases...keep cycling these vibrating trucks back to GM (at their cost) until they learn how to build them correctly. It's a shame too, because they really are nice trucks...
  11. Nearly every rear end was build defectively that went on 2014-2015 Sierra and Silverados. It is a known fact that American Axle messed up when supplying these. Ring/pinion gears were not built to spec, causing vibrations and grinding/rubbing noises that will come from your floor and or steering wheel (mostly during deceleration). I have had the rear axle assembly swapped out with new on 2 trucks so far. I feel bad for people that are not aware of this because years down the road they will have failing axles, chances are, when the vehicles are out of warranty. In my eyes this is criminal and a lawsuit should happen eventually...because rear axles are not cheap to replace and GM KNOWS THEY ARE BUILDING TRUCKS WITH BAD AXLES. Shameful.
  12. My issue is that I bought on employee discount pricing. When you do that you sign away your rights to sue GM in any form over the condition of the vehicle. I will go through arbitration with BBB and if I get the same result (full MSRP trade) I really don't care about the tires. If I don't get the same result I will look into additional legal actions I can take...so I will remember this post, thank you.
  13. So 2nd Silverado, 3rd repair attempt...they took the body off the frame and remounted it. They also swapped in a new obligatory tire (they have put on at least 1 new tire every single time I have taken in my truck for service...that's 7 times on 2 different trucks). Truck ran pretty good for about 400 miles, then the vibes were back in full force. They never completely left, but were minimized to about 20-30% of what they normally are. Just filed 2nd BBB case. For me, I am not mad anymore. There is no point in getting mad. The way I see it...because of GM's incompetence, I will be driving new trucks for free until they learn how to build a truck that doesn't shake and vibrate all over the place. The BBB or lemon law are the only ways out. Start a BBB case if you haven't already. Oh, this time around, I am also going after GM for putting normal all season tires on my truck, instead of the AT upgrade tires I paid $200 for. Not that it matters much to me in the end, because once they exchange this truck for a new one I will end up getting new tires anyhow...but I want the BBB to understand how GM is ripping people off. Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires are NOT all terrain tires! Wake up GM, stop scamming and learn how to build a truck correctly!
  14. Did you buy through GM employee or friends/family pricing? If so, start a BBB case as 'arbitration' is the only means of getting a buyback or trade assist you can expect. (When you buy via GM discount, you sign an extra piece of paper saying you will never sue GM in court over the vehicle you just purchased). Keep records of all your service visits, as you will need them for your BBB case. In MI, 4 attempts at fixing is all you need, so for me after the 3rd I started the BBB case online, sent a letter to GM (address in the back of your owners manual) explaining you are giving them 1 final repair attempt, then wait. You will setup a date for the repair attempt, get the truck back, if its good, fine, if not, proceed with the BBB case. You will work with a GM business resource rep and your BBB rep, an arbitration date will be scheduled. GM will likely call 1-2 days before your arbitration date ( I am yet to hear from anyone that actually had to go to the arbitration, as GM knows they have problems...and the 1 person that claims they had to go to arbitration I feel is lying and are working for GM), tell you they give up and you win, and offer MSRP to MSRP full trade assist. This whole process can take months, but it doesn't require a lot of leg work...mostly waiting. Pick out a new truck, realize it also vibrates...then start the whole process again. Many of us are on their 2nd and third trucks at this point. Our only option is to continue forcing GM to give us new trucks until they learn how to build trucks that don't vibrate down the road!
  15. The one issue with this is for people that buy on GM employee or supplier discount pricing. In exchange for the discount, GM asks you to sign a piece of paper saying you will never sue them over the vehicle. You can still go to the BBB and arbitrate your case, but likely will never get a refund...only MSRP trade. I am on the way with my second truck and second trade...my only question is how many years I will have to do this until they build non-vibrating trucks. The one silver lining is that I have been driving trucks for over a year now and haven't paid a dime for the use/miles I have put on the trucks.
