  1. AIFF works? What year/model do you have? I'm also trying to compile as many facts and findings in one spot as possible in this thread: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/189768-infotainment-audio-thread/
  2. Does anyone know if the SD card / USB drive will support FLAC/ALAC lossless audio formats? MP3s sound like garbage, even at high bitrate. A tweaked fully optioned BOSE system really draws out the shrill and modular effect of the compression. I've been messing around trying to test it out today... I've yet to get it to read one, but I think it's because I formatted the card wrong (someone earlier mentioned NTFS instead of exFAT, which is odd but I'll go with it)
  3. That's true, but it's really easy to accidentally hit that drive and break the drive, the factory connector, or both. The SD card sits in the slot and is almost impossible* to damage while loaded. * Physical damage. Don't pour a coffee in there.
  4. Just thought I'd point out that many Micro SD cards come with the full size adapter. That's what I'm using.
  5. Woulda laughed pretty hard if you popped a hole in your touchscreen. Not supposed to put the finger on the trigger unless you're planning on firing ;)
  6. Worth it. Best add-on mod. Mine is still running perfectly, I have zero complaints. I also did some extra work and plastic-sheathed the entire cabling up the frame and wrapped that in electrical tape, similar to stock. Also, get some extra zip ties. A lot. Don't cut your wires until you've completed the run entirely. It's real easy to accidentally cut too much.
  7. The wires are either 16 or 18 gauge. Hard to tell with variable jacket thickness. I've used every type of wire tap on the market, they're all mediocre. If you want a solid connection, solder and shrink-wrap it. I'm not terribly concerned because taps fail when excessive motion is involved. That wire bundle is zipped and bundled down real well. I used the provided taps without any concern. It's not exactly hard to get back to it if I needed to, although I highly doubt I will.
  8. Is there a way to shove in a thin sheet of cardboard or plastic to prevent crap from dropping down when you pull the filter?
  9. Ditto. Glad I saw this thread, I hated that cabin filters got pulled. As long as you keep up with them, they rock. Especially for those of us with allergies when a HEPA filter is available.
  10. Bingo. I suspect (not knowing the exact system hardware in use) it's either underpowered hardware, terribly optimized software, or in typical GM fashion.... both.
  11. Android is already being plagued with malware and other unfavorable software exploits. Do you want your car opened up to that? I don't. Also, GM needs to control what apps they allow in the car, as anything that overly distracts the driver could very well be their liability. Using a service to hack in other features on the other hand is YOUR liability in the end. Probably why GM hasn't tried to put an end to it.
  12. Was thinking of doing this to my Silverado LTZ, but was concerned with failing inspection (seeing how aftermarket HID kits are illegal for on-road use in every US state). Hmmmm..... you'd need to hide those ballasts real well.
  13. My Pioneer AVIC unit did, and I used that (technically illegal) feature 0% of the time I had it. Not out of fear of getting a ticket, but because I'm too busy watching the road. It's not worth the money anyone is charging unless they're giving you better features in addition to that.
  14. I'll try getting a 480p MP4. It would be nice while I'm sitting around in a parking lot to watch some standup comedy.
  15. Fascinating. I added a handful of different formats to an SD card and it didn't even see any of them. MKV, AVI, MP4, all ignored by the system. Then again, I think they were all 720p/1080p video. The manual is crap for any help, too. If anyone gets any definite answers, please post them.
