  1. Huge improvement 3 mpg small price to pay get a good tune on it and you’ll get those mpg s back and some horse power too and torque and other things as well
  2. No a friend of mine has several 01thru 05 Tahoe’s all have +s and -s and all being almost ragged out and if he drives them works on them or looks at them it won’t take long to trash them completely if I have some definitive proof why he shouldn’t do some dumb shit he wants to do then I can usually get him to stand down usually but sometimes he just Hell bent on doing dumb shit lol he thinks he wants to pull this swap but he’ll just end up with more junk parts in his yard and trailer
  3. Also did you get a chance to look at my other question about he stabilitrack and the transfer case and all wheel drive
  4. Thank you for all your advice i already knew the answer I just needed some one else to say it so I could show my friend thst thinks he gonna swap intakes and put these heads on and is convinced that it will work even that a lot of people do it but I’m pretty sure he must think all vortec heads are the same and some one told him he could make great hp gains by putting vortec heads on this engine and I might vaguely remember something to that affect but it would need to be 5.7 vortec heads is this correct I’ve built a 350 for my 88 camaro and I’ve been completely through my 04 5.3 I also worked at. Diesel mechanic shop when I was younger and both dad and step dad could rebuild anything in their sleep so I spent a lot of time under the hood of something with the both of them I got a pretty good base for being mechanically inclined but I never tried putting vortec heads on an older 350 i tried explaining to my friend that the 5.3 is part of the ls family and I was sure that the vortec heads he had will not work and he just kept asking why why why lol if he buys an intake why why why and i was like shoot cause it just won’t but he wanting to pull the heads off this fresh built 350 he bought and put vortec heads on it said he was gonna try it anyway lol so i figured I’d get him another opinion if I could and I’ll show him what you said and he’ll stilll probably try it lol but thanks for your time and help
  5. Can a person Change out the transfer case on an 04-05 Tahoe with all wheel drive stabilitrack with just a regular 4 wheel drive transfer case and make the vehicle 4x4 instead of AWD just by changing the transfer case or does computer have something to do with it
  6. Can you put the new 5.3L heads I think the number is 863 heads off a 5.3L on an older 350 block and if so does it bump up the compression and or increase hp
  7. Heath, I’m glad I could help brother mine had me so frustrated that I couldn’t think straight i was loosing sleep and about to throw a bunch of money at it I got lucky and noticed a wire not in it place under the hood it was even at night with a drop light glowing just right evidently but I am ocd about my whip so I’m always cleaning inside and out under the truck under the hood so when something is amiss Im usually on top of it. I’ve been wondering how it worked for you glad it worked before you threw a pile of money at it have a great afternoon
  8. I posted original photo then photo after I marked it up couldn’t get any good ones of the bolt on back of block I’ll try again though if this doesn’t help
  9. Txab is correct no screen under sending unit till afm in 07 but the O ring is crucial and the right o ring as well when i replaced my oil pump it came with 3 or 4 different o rings have you ever had a stuck lifter maybe when it was cold out that you can recall a damaged lifter will cause this issue your having and worse case a spun cam bearing but I’d definitely start with priming the oil pump then move on to the oil pump itself cause it has a bypass spring loaded valve Incase you get to much oil pressure it will open up and dump right back into the pan causing this issue as well I can go on and on with the possible causes believe me been where your at still there just finally gave in and quit worrying saved my money and bought another motor ain’t swapped out yet cause this one with no oil pressure is a beast and doesn’t seem to mind not having it
