Compass, GPS, NAV and OnStar all failing
awcheese replied to Magoomba's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
OK - My rig is now back up to speed - I waited until the part (new antenna) was in Stock, painted to match, and ready to install. Took it in This Morning at 9 AM. It was done by Noon. Just picked it up - and it works fine. Rainy day here in the Pacific Northwest - so we'll see if the part is redesigned to accomodate the water issue - Anyhow - success on mine. Now to grouse with Onstar about extension of their "free Trial" services. Wish me luck. Thanks all for the info and support on these issues. -
Water leak in the roof

Mine is a tahoe - but I think the antenna / onstar setup is the same. I am told I have water in the antenna - I have not seen it entering the cab as some have at the headliner / visor points. The initial symptom was a failing GPS unit. I am noticing a bit of condensation on the windshield now at start up. -

there is another thread on this forum site - and its affecting the Tahoe yukon platform as well - most of us have had our onstar and nav systems fail because of this. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/168031-compass-gps-nav-and-onstar-all-failing/ Sounds to me like we all should be in the same chatroom! -

Morrislee - sounds like most of us are told either - water entering the antenna housing and causing a short of some sort - or Onstar module is bad. As yet - I have not seen anyone report one or the other has been the official cure - perhaps the smart dealer will order both parts and replace the easy fix first. with Back ordered parts and waiting - Whoever is up and running first with the right fix should try letting the rest of us know what worked or didnt. At the end of the Day - I will also be hassling Onstar or GM - to reset the clock on the free onstar/wifi/XM trial to the date that my unit has a Green OK light on my mirror. That seems fair - as the unit is not 100% functional. -

that's the best intel I have heard yet. please let us know if that repair is indeed the cats meow, and you are back up and running. Also if they do the antenna - or any other parts in the same fixit -- Thanks - and good luck. -

I have same issue on the 2015 tahoe - including red light of doom on rear view mirror. They told me its going to be the Antenna. I have read that the wiring in the antenna interferes with itself as its dual function and non shielded (gps vs onstar data). Who made the module diagnosis - and is there perhaps a real TSB or other secret recall information your dealer made that diagnosis from?
