  1. Would be interesting to know for sure, but I did this in my siverado for the hell of it.. at about 1k though not 500. Service manager looked at me like I was a space alien when I brought in in with only 1k on the odometer.
  2. Never did it to save gas. I did it to gain a little bit of horse power and better response from the engine and maybe a little bit improvement in drivability due to the transmission wanting to get into the highest gear possible. So far the tune has worked perfect for that. The only issue I had was when shifting from 1-2 it does it a little quick but it depends on where you're at in the pedal. I originally turned off AFM and noticed my in town mileage was dropping but not on the highway. I have since turned it back on and my in town mileage is way up and my highway mileage is still good. In fact I would say having the tune has increased my gas mileage although that wasn't my intent , I'll take it.
  3. I submitted some files for them to look at. 14' Silverado with the same 1-2 shift (short shift) issue as you. Turned off trottle boost and while it helped, the issue isn't gone ...just a bit less noticeable.
  4. Wonder why that is? Seems if you set it back to stock, then dealer updates, when you go through the process again, I would have thought it would be as if you were installing for the first time. Apparently not.
  5. Yep, can do the same in Diablo sport. I was really close to going with the same hypertech that you got. Went Diablo only due to the supposed ability to hid it from the dealer (tested by jaws52).
  6. Posted on another thread...posted by jaws52 about the method of detecting the tune install.. "have a couple tech friends. went in and looked at and took a screen shot of what the data they turn in looked like.. flashed the computer with the diablo. went back in and looked at it all again and NOTHING changed. NOT ONE THING.. take that as you will.. im confident it wouldnt be found IF i had issues." I assume his tech friends are GM dealership techs using the official screen shot procedure to check.
  7. I assume that you must have increased the shift rpms because the normal tune for the transmission at least, does not have any shift going above 5600 rpm. The 4 to 5 shift and the 5 to 6 shift are both set at 5200 rpm. That's default for the firm and hard shift tune in the TCM.
  8. That seems kind of weird. Must be something with the 6.2L. My truck is a 5.3L and I have 87 flex tunes 91 flex tune all kinds of adjustable parameters in the ECM. I also have firm shift and hardshift for the TCM and all kinds of adjustable parameters within the TCM.
  9. Just turned off TM in the TCM. Gonna drive a bit and see if it makes a difference. Im at 10% tb right now but I may go back up some and try 12%. Any particular reason you didn't go to 15%?
  10. So how would you up the shift point rpms? From what I've seen in the settings, you can up the shift point rpm only for wide open throttle for both normal and tow/haul. I didn't see anything for some intermediate position throttle adjustment.
  11. I also have a Bax FiberMax. Have had no problems at all with it. The only leakage I have had is the result of a power washing at a car wash when I sprayed the wand directly at the seals and it forced water inside. Otherwise it has been fantastic. It's the best cover I've seen, it's very low profile stays latched well, provides a good clean look to the truck. Guess time will tell. Had it about a month.
  12. Me either, no oil usage. Got around 5500 miles on it, AFM is fully functional and hasn't used any oil at all, dipstick is right where it should be every time I check.
  13. That must have been you that I heard that from. Why did he recommend 89? Was it due to what he was seeing via engine knock sensors? My thoughts are that perhaps it was with 87 he saw some knock retarding happening while 89 was just enough to avoid it and 92+ wasn't necessary?
  14. Saw someone post on here about the advice he was given by blackbear where he was told to run 89 octane. I don't know if it had anything to do with the tune or not, or if it was related to being just the right amount of to keep the engine from retarding the timing due to engine knock being sensed. I curious about this. Hopefully he will chime in.
