  1. My camera started to fail, so I felt I would like to install a OEM camera, so that "next time", I'd know what camera to get for replacement. I ran into quite a few obstacles. I had to do a lot of research to find the correct plug for mating with the camera. Also, what wires are used and what is their function. Once, all of that was in place, I was ready to reconfigure the wire harness. The wires are quite small, so difficult to work with .... they had to be crimped (with a Molex tool) on the pins, and because they were so small, I elected to carefully solder them, as well. The particular Molex connector used, also, had a learning curve, as to how to extract and insert pins. My harness, could of had more wires (5), but only had 3 and a shield drain wire. The power wire (red) got spliced to the trigger wire and the shield drain was the video (-) wire. Your wires could certainly be of a different color. Bottom line: It worked!
  2. Just get something under the edge of the plastic and pry it up .... a putty knife or screw driver. Just be careful to not mar the edge with the tool. Work your way around the panel.
  3. I got the High Country grille today and got it installed. No problems. The end, lower bolts are a bit of a pain to remove from underneath, however, if the upper bumper molding was removed first, the bolts could be gotten to from the front. When I reassembled, I bolted the grille in place and then pressed the upper bumper molding into place. The older part number is 23173538, while the newer part number is 23473702. The one difference I noted, was the center post, which snaps into the truck frame is absent on the newer P/N. (Pic is from the older P/N) One of the reasons I wanted to change the grille, was because the snow plow plugs wouldn't fit back through the honeycomb grille. I haven't poked them back through all the way, yet. Note: I do have the chrome and black honeycomb grille, which i can make available, if you need one.
  4. Will a 2014 High Country grille fit right into a 2014 WT Silverado? In talking to the local dealer parts guy, he mentioned headlight bezel fit to grille was different. ?? Has anyone made the swap?

  6. The reverse power goes to the cam only. I believe, I saw some cables on eBay to run from the mirror connector to the MyLink display.
  7. Pin #26 Blue/Brown of the brown connector is the reverse wire.. used a T-Tap and spade connector. This is a mirror pic so may be a little deceiving.
  8. I don't have any reference of video quality, however I thought this camera was pretty good and it seemed to be fairly good quality after dark, as well. Here are a couple of new pix, ... which haven't turned out awfully good, but better than the other, I posted. You can see the bumper at the bottom. I expect, if the trailer ball were in place, you'd be able to see it.
  9. I had to connect power to the BCM and install an RCA pigtail into the HMI connector.
  10. There are other systems, which add a can bus module, which are more money. The package that I got was $443.00, including shipping and return of original HMI module. Not cheap!
  11. I just finished installing a rear-view camera with the video displayed on the factory 4.2" MyLink display in my 2014 Silverado. I used the http://gm-navigation.com/ system, which supplies a camera, a tailgate handle and wiring, plus supplies a reprogrammed HMI/MyLink module. The reprogrammed HMI module allows the video to be presented on the factory "infotainment"/MyLink display. Essentially working as the factory installation would work ... including the active lines. The biggest problem ... You can't find the correct system on their site, but they have it. Also, they have a bunch of other upgrades, including Nav, etc.. http://autospatech.com/ is the same organization. I've had experience with the mirror display and didn't care for that and didn't want a monitor on top of the dash. This system worked out good.
  12. I had pulled the trim off, before. It didn't have any wires or connectors, but it did have a framework with a stainless steel clip within. If I had to guess, I'd say "it's to hold a credit card". I don't travel toll roads often and i usually pay with cash. But, if they take credit card payments, it would hold the card securely. ?? One of the engineers used every spot he could find to put a compartment of some kind.
  13. I have no idea what this slot is for and haven't been able to find anything, elsewhere. It would take a credit card. The horizontal slot above the headlight switch and below trailer brake controls.
