  1. As soon as I read the first line I knew you were an engineer....which means lots of theory but lacking understanding of real world implementations. The fuel line is still protected by two seperate flaps that essentially act like a backflow prevention valve in plumbing. Not to mention this is a proven method over years of implementation. So what I am saying is you are wrong. End of story NUFF SAID. Except that I have been a plumber/gasfitter/pipefitter with real world experience in this concept.
  2. I find that most of you have nothing better to do with your time than complain about things like a backup camera which serves the purpose of lining up with a trailer and providing a view of what you normally wont see in your mirrors. If you want to watch a 4k video of you reversing your truck well you probably have deeper issues. Get over it the camera in the 15 and 18 do the job they are supposed at least that has been my experience.
  3. I use a generic 16GB sd card a kingston 32GB micro-duo and just about any other usb drive and everything I have used so far works fine with music. All are formatted FAT32 and I use mp3 format just because it is easy you could just as easily use exFAT and be fine but for music it shouldnt be necessary it would only be if you are playing larger files such as video files.
  4. Further to your point I drove a 1980 camaro in winter and had no problems ( newfoundland canada winters do not make for easy driving ) however I use auto quite often here in Ontario whether it is rain/snow etc. Just makes for better traction and I dont have to be concerned with typical empty truck sliding out on me. All that to say I agree with skills you can drive in any weather in pretty much any vehicle I have trust me but when you have a vehicle that has an option such as this then use it if you feel like it. I think many on this forum should probably just park their truck in the driveway add some after market parts take pics and never drive it....
  5. Bottom line is this, leaving it in auto will not hurt your truck auto was designed for just that. That being said any mechanical part being used or engaged will incur wear that is the nature of mechanics. Your mileage will drop some that is the nature of a vehicle working harder. In my own experience and many friends and family with Chev/GM trucks they throw it in auto in the winter and forget about it and never have any issues, it is an excellent mode for normal day to day in town or highway driving in winter. If conditions are really bad like happens here in Canada at times throw it in 4H or 4L whichever your situation calls for. Dont be paranoid about using your truck as designed it is a piece of machinery and any part can break and will wear even if you let it sit in the driveway it will garner some kind of damage. Someone mentioned "common sense" and that is a good definition for how to use a vehicle any vehicle.
  6. Says for 2014 but I have the same issue on my 2015 dealer says they didnt hear anything.
  7. Just have to get a set of black wheels and I am all set:
  8. I just completed this job yesterday and I took the upper colored piece above the bumper with the grill, 4 bolts on the bottom if you get under the truck. Really easy to remove the painted piece afterward. The most difficult part for me was seperating the chrome from the mesh because I was careful not to break any of the plastic clips. Really not a hard job at all. Pics in the link below. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/175040-chrome-mesh-to-black-mesh-done-couldnt-find-previous-thread-but-had-to-show-you-guys/
  9. Apparently burning oil is acceptable these days: http://www.autoblog.com/2015/07/02/consumer-reports-finds-new-cars-burn-too-much-oil/ There was a chart attached to a similar article that I was unable to find. GM Trucks were not on that list, Jeep wasnt even on it. I just traded my 2009 Jeep on my Silverado and that thing burned about 1 - 1.5 litres between oil changes which was usually about 5-6000 km so a lot apparently this was a known thing with that engine. The engine ran fine never an issue but still I dont like that all these manufacturers are ok with this type of oil consumption.
