First oil change for Duramax
Chevor replied to Butcher2's topic in 6.6L (LML/L5P) & 6.0L (L96/LC8) Tech
I took an oil sample and changed the oil on one truck at 5000 miles. It was flagged critical from the manufacturing process. Silicon and copper very high. If I ever bought another new one first oil change for me would be 500 miles. Get that factory oil out of there. .. They do recommend this with small engines also...Don't they? -
Cooling Mods for Towing
Chevor replied to mitchely03's topic in 2014-2019 Engine, Driveline, & Exhaust
Easiest thing would be going up the hills slower and in lower gears. -
Read my diesels with aftermarket reader. The stock gauges are there but not as accurate as you think. My diesels read 210 on the dash, read 185 on reader. I think GM does it so people are not freaking out by 30 degree coolant rises.

Yes, my 2010 and one of my 2013s leaked the same way. Third brake light seal. Not a hard fix. Pull the brake light put some sealant along to top and sides of the seal.

I sold this truck.

Where Do You Stand? GM vs. UAW In Most Recent Contract Talks
Chevor replied to Gorehamj's topic in The Newsroom Archive
I for one was thinking of buying a new truck, but since the news of the strike I am going to hold off until the strike is resolved. I have worked in one of these factories in the past as a temp, I think it was at $11 an hour. The factories are loud sweat boxes. Huge turnover trying to keep employees. And add to that when management is on the production line they play games switching parts that are supposed to go on one vehicle to another. Now my dad worked 30 years for GM. Hired in in the late 70s, is now retired. He saids it's a 2 tier system, those who hire in now will never make what he made. The UAW has forfeited a lot. What I find really irritating is talking to other my dad's age who also retired from GM, who draw a pension and they do not own or choose to buy GM vehicles. -
What mudflaps for 2020 HD?
Chevor replied to Weatherby460's topic in 2020-2024 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
I buy oversized flaps from ryderfleetproducts.com. Cut them to fit. -
It's not to hard to add a little cooler to the PS on these LMMs. IDK why it was eleminated on that engine model. The years before had it and the models after do. I had to change out lines multiple times on the 2010, even the brake master cylinder do to leakes. Get the heat of that oil down the leaks stop.

Figured the rear gold needed to be covered also.

I wouldnt call them stickered OEM shocks ranchos. I think stock should be changed out at 60k. But it looks like yours should be changed now. I had almost 600k on the front rancho 9000 shocks when I sold my 2010. Rear shocks where changed a few times do to leaking. I wanna say got 200k to 250k outta those.
