  1. ^^ Sounds like normal operation. Oil pressure varies with rpm's. It will be lower at idle and higher with higher rpm's. If you have 35 at idle and 50-55 with higher rpm's, you're doing just fine.
  2. I replaced all the hard-wired smoke detectors in our house today with new smoke/CO detectors. They were over 20 years old. Had to put up new mounting rings and re-wire. Very easy, took about 90 minutes or so to do all seven of them. By then it was warm enough outside to mop the garage floor (epoxy coated) to get the winter slop off it. It was 36 out today; first day above freezing in about three weeks. That took about two hours. Then I checked all tire pressures, oil, washer fluid, etc. in all our vehicles while waiting for the garage floor to dry. It was nice to be outside in the fresh air. Then it was time to watch the Broncos/Patriots game. I've been in the La-Z-Boy ever since. LOL
  3. What?! A Chevy towing a F**d?! Imagine that!
  4. Put about 100 miles on my truck to take my 91 year old mom to visit my Dad's grave. He's been gone 50 years this week. Kind of tough duty but very glad I took her.
  5. I wonder if there is a way to make it so the oil pressure switch is kind of remote mounted. Could some creative plumbing with high-pressure lines and proper fittings be used to move the switch (and screen) a few inches so it could be changed in the future without removing the intake manifold?
  6. This was 6.22.13, the day I brought it home from the dealer with 7 miles on it. It's loaded with options. Nobody has ever driven it except me, except for factory and dealer folks and the guy who put in the 2" level kit. I've added a bunch of little things to it; 2" front level, Raptor steps, OEM Denali grille, Extang tonneau, OEM wheel well liners, Boss Sport Duty plow, rustproofing, paint sealant, fabric protection, spray-in bed liner and spray-in bed liner material on the lower rockers, floor liners, mud flaps, LED bed lights, Pop & Lock, cabin air filter kit, antenna delete mod, etc. I plan to add a Diablo-Lew or Blackbear tune, Borla exhaust, and maybe slightly taller tires (came w/ 275/55r20's). I'm also thinking about a Rosen touch screen nav radio with back-up camera and a few other mods like foot-well lighting, etc.
  7. ^^^^^ Movie night! That's great! I installed a Dorman (carbon) cabin filter retrofit kit then drove to our oldest son's house to help him hang about 20 sheets of drywall in his new basement rec-room.
  8. This was back in 2004 with my previous truck ('00 Silverado LT) when I took my '74 Cutlass Supreme (which I now have owned for 40 years!) in for a new exhaust system. I haven't towed anything but my garden tractor with my '13 Sierra.
  9. So true about the downsized models '78 and up. I do like the last gen Olds 442 ('86-'87) and Buick T-Type/GNX from same years, though.
  10. I sure do remember those cars. I always liked the Can Am and the '73-'75 Hurst/Olds, the '74 Hurst/Olds and '76 Buick Regal Indy pace cars, among others. I think the collector market is just now beginning to barely recongnize cars from that era.
  11. Thanks! Yes, it has the Custom Sport 4-spoke steering wheel with tilt and floor shift/console. (It's a bit dirty in this pic.)
  12. This is my '74 Cutlass Supreme. Factory 455, TH400, dual exhaust, buckets, gauges, FE2 suspension, A/C, 3.23 posi. 62k miles. I've added Performer intake, mild cam, B&M torque converter, "442" louvered hood, etc. It could use a repaint and new carpet... someday. I almost hate to admit it but I've owned this car for 40 years! Yikes!
  13. My '13 5.3 uses no oil but our '11 Equinox 2.4 uses 2+ quarts in 5,000 miles. Hammers like a diesel at idle...BAD rod knock type sound on hot start. (No knock on cold start). Have had it "repaired" at dealer four times (timing chains, tensioners, cam actuators, water pump chain, etc). Now at 48,000 miles (religiously maintained) doing oil consumption test. Next step is rings/pistons or short block replacement. Thankfully still under warranty. So it's not just trucks. Search the 'net. Almost al manufacturers have these problems. I'm not sure anything else would be any better. Still a GM fan but my loyalty is being tested.
  14. I installed a Spyder all red third brake light to eliminate the factory cargo lamp. Had to re-wire it so all the led's light up as a brake light. I put in led under rail lights in the bed and have a tonneau cover so the cargo lamp was useless.
