GM Performance Brakes Venting
Glava2876 replied to Glava2876's topic in 2019-2025 Silverado & Sierra
The big brakes definitely have a little more stopping power than my 2015 that was basically the same Denali with the 6.2 also -that one was used for mostly highway, but the brakes and rotors were shot at 50k miles. The worst thing, for both trucks, was how severely rusted the rotors were. Maybe the upstate ny salt on the thruway and Route 81 was real intense -I believe that they started using a liquid brine like crap. So, the my take away is that I gained some improvement in braking and look awesome -but probably would not option them on my next truck. Also, I wash my truck all the time, so the salt never stayed on my truck for more than a day or two at most -if they don’t salt where you live, you’ll probably get more mileage out of the brakes. -

Luckily I have part number now on my receipt They look and work great. Not sure what kind of mileage you would get out of Powerstop or others, but there would be more pad options. -
GM Performance Brakes Venting

I’ve only had one other vehicle eat brakes and rotors this quickly -my 2015 Sierra 1500 with standard brakes did the same at 45k miles. When I checked on what to expect from Brembo brakes -they say 35-40k. I checked all of the manufacturers of brakes and none of them listed the performance brake option size, which is over 16”-even called Powerstop which is what I put on my Z06 to get rid of the Brembo brake dust. Like I said, I really love my truck and will have to live with the brakes -

So I did the brake job -it was actually hard to find the rotors and pads. Finally gave my vin to Flow and they hooked me up. I don’t tow or haul large loads and was amazed that the pad on one side was down to metal and the other side was just a thin film. The funny part is that I never heard any wear sensor and because you lose the thickness monitor with the change to Brembo pads, I had no warning -the brakes actually felt fine and the only way I found out is that the truck failed NYS inspection. -

So I love my 2020 Denali and that it came from the factory with the Brembo performance brake option. 36,000 miles later, I still love my truck, but not too fond of the brakes. Early on, they started to pulse and they resurfaced the rotors and it was fine. Today with 36k miles, the pads are toast and, since they were resurfaced once, need to replace the rotors too. GM is the only place you can get replacements -no manufacturer of any type, has replacements. So even with a discount on the GM parts, Flow Performance, I’m looking at about $1,200.00 delivered. OK, done venting, still love my truck -just gotta do a brake job this weekend.

GMPP - Missing Performance Exhaust?
Glava2876 replied to back_336's topic in 2019-2025 Silverado & Sierra
I have it on my 2020. The dealer added it after I had it for a while and it is not extremely loud, but got a little louder with time. The resonators and all were still on the performance exhaust, the biggest visual difference is that it is 3” diameter. -
I had the rear window leak on my 2020 Denali -actually the 3 year anniversary is right now. I had my first leak sighting late last year. They resealed it and it leaked a little while later, so they replaced the entire rear window. Last month it started leaking again. After about a week, they replaced the rear window and seal again. So far so good. It was a PIA, but glad I still had warranty. This is still my favorite truck ever.

Thanks the wheels are factory and the height is also. Good point, I may ask them about future coverage if the leak isn’t gone this time.

Glad my GM warranty is still in effect -at least for about 10 more days So my rear window leaked last year. They resealed and it leaked again, so they next replaced the rear window. It seemed OK until about a week ago, when I noticed a small leak again. I dropped it off last Thursday and they tried sealing it again-tested it and found still a pinhole type leak…so the are replacing the rear window and window seal again today. I guess this is what warranties are for and it has been a long but smooth process, so crossing my fingers that this fixes it for good. Still love this truck!

2020 Silverado 1500 front brake caliper
Glava2876 replied to Steven S 504's topic in 2019-2025 Silverado & Sierra
The 6 pistons are when you get the Performance brake option, with Brembo brakes. I have them on my 2020 Denali, with factory 22” rims . -
I have a 2020 Denali 6.2. It has approximately 24,000 miles. I just changed the oil this week with 5,700 miles on the Mobil 1. Checked the oil before changing and it used approximately zero oil since the last change -I must be lucky.

Forgot to update that the window is in and we had some real heavy rain and no leaks -thanks GMC for correcting this problem

Poll: Does your truck have the rear window leak?
Glava2876 replied to DuRsT's topic in 2019-2025 Silverado & Sierra
The dealer had tried to seal the rear window leak in the spring and this fall it started leaking again. Last week they installed a new rear window and the tech notes indicated that the original window frame has significant cracking. We have had some significant rain and everything is dry, so hopefully the problem is solved -thank goodness for warranty! -

Update on my 2020. They sealed it in the spring and it seemed ok -but noticed it leaking again last month. Took it in last Thursday and they are putting in a new rear window today. -
So I brought it in to my dealer and they called me later and said the frame had cracking everywhere, so they are putting in new one -and they have it in stock. They also confirmed a bad button on the rear of of the automatic running board on the PS side-not in stock, but they are getting one from another dealer, so should have it all done today. I’ll update when done .
