IMO unless the Ram is a laramie dont bother, the lower grade interiors are pretty cheesy. RAM 5.7 six or eight speed does NOT get better mileage than the new GM trucks, 5.3 or 6.2. I had three Rams, 2010, 2012 and 2014, all CC 4x4 Laramies. Fuel mileage is not their strong point, but the Ram trans works better, not perfect but better. The 5.7 does not feel as powerful as the 5.3 to be honest. Overall I liked the Rams better, FCA fit and finish isnt that good and I think they purposely use plastic interior panels that scratch too easy so you will trade it in sooner lol. The Uconnect NAV is so much better it isnt even funny. Rams ride a lot better, but it doent take much to sag the rear, you pay for the softer ride. No leaf spring groans and pops either. The Ram 1500s also do not have HD towing packages, have to really pay attention to the max cargo on higher trim models - its pretty low, No such thing as a perfect car or truck, have to decide what is important to you and if you can live with the common issues all brands have. Have to be careful with internet forum research though, if you listen to the people they are all junk. If GM would get a decent transmission programmer and get the 70mph vibration fixed they would have a winner, maybe 2018 I'm waiting for the Jeep Wrangler pickup myself,

Think the OP is talking about the leaf spring u-bolts, not u-joints.

These do ride a quite a bit rougher than my last few rams, the frames on these are pretty stiff and you certainly feel the road. Plus the lower profile tires on the newer trucks dont help. hope the dealer gets you straightened out.

My advice is take a ride in another one and see what you think. It is a pickup with little weight in the rear and stiff springs to take quite a bit of added weight in the bed, well, they ride like pickup trucks on bumpy roads. My last '15 Silverado was equipped with Z71 and this '16 is not, dont really notice much difference between them. You could have a bad shock or two, I had two bad factory Rancho shocks in the rear but it would just cause the truck to bounce when you came to a stop, didnt affect the highway ride much.

My '15 Silverado LT had the adjustable drivers headrest, this '16 SLT Sierra does not. It is fixed on the '16 but it doesnt hit my head at all, the '15 when I bought it someone had moved the headrest all the way forward and it was terrible - until I figured out how to adjust it..

My kid's VW passat has a long delay when it sits overnight, so did a '15 Cherokee with a 9 speed I drove for a bit. Its not exclusive to GM or the A8 thats for sure. I doubt it will hurt anything long term, better chance of the dealer screwing something up doing the TSB. I have the A8 in my C7 and I have none of the common complaints (yet), delay or converter shudder but I dont doubt some do. My '16 GMC has the A6 and its far from perfect, I havent found many 'perfect' auto transmissions over the years..

2016 silverado 1500 bad wheel bearing
kp52 replied to Froggy81's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
To make the failure rate close to zero the car/truck would probably have to cost 4-5 times more. When things go bad they tend to fail sooner rather than later, unless its just a bad design - those problems will manifest later down the road. So always something t look forward to I'm a glass half full kinda guy, if you look at all the parts in a modern car or truck, and it only takes a 25 cent clip or electrical connector to stop the whole thing from working its amazing most even make it off the transporter truck. -
Guaranteed if you look hard enough for problems you will find them You would know if you had the delayed engagement problem, after sitting overnight when you put it in drive/reverse the first time nothing will happen for a few seconds. Since the idle is up a bit higher when cold when it does engage its hit with a bang. Problem is they all dont do it, its been a complaint on the Corvette forums for a while. Its a pretty complicated repair and some have reported the same issue after it was done. GM draws the line at 3 seconds, if its under 3 seconds to engagement they wont do the stator/pump cover. Here is the bulletin: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/knowledgebase/article/2015-2016-corvette-service-bulletin-16-na-014-delayed-engagement-after-sitting-with-engine-off-1290.html

There was an older post where a taller guy who like the 'flat' seat bottom complained he had no headroom when it was adjusted how he wanted it. Being a tall guy myself I thought he was crazy, but if you do level the bottom cushion with the power controls the seat is up very high so he was right. I like the back of the seat bottom lower and knees up, but I'm sure some drivers dont. We had a '14 express Ram with manual seats for a while and I felt like I was going to slide off the front of the seat every time I stopped. The seat bottom was horizontal and I hated it, there were no adjustments for the tilt of the seat bottom. But you may like that seat angle. Its a shame you had to buy the truck to figure out you dont like the seating. Myself I'm very happy with it and can spend 10 hours on the road with no problems, both my '15 with cloth and this '16 with leather feel the same to me. But not everyone is the same, I have bought cars/trucks I hated and took a huge loss bailing out after a few months. In the long run I was probably better off rather then getting annoyed every time I drove it for years. Only thing you can do is try to modify it to suit your tastes, I'm sure a quality auto upholstery shop can do whatever you want.

Yep, the copper plated stuff or stainless steel wool works if screening in not possible. Dont use regular steel wool, it will rust and stain everything around it. People also say dryer sheets keep them away, but I would think mice would love them. Could always start smoking, I read years ago that mice hate the smell of cigarette smoke.

Rams are 150w.too. Fords 400 watt inverter Nothing is perfect for everyone..

They are most likely getting in from the cowl by the hood hinges, need to block those. Thats why putting it on recirc will keep them out of the HVAC. I bet if you pull the cabin filter out you will find where they have been living. There really isnt a whole lot for them tear up in there except for seals and the cabin air filter. Certainly dont want them migrating under the seats though. Unfortunately is not GMs problem. I'm surprised they went this far under warranty.

You said in your first post you checked the oil and it was OK. It has to be around 2 quarts down before the low oil light will come on, luckily with an 8 quart capacity unless you were doing some hard cornering or off roading you didnt hurt anything. Unfortunately at this point you dont know if the dealer underfilled it or it used that much oil. Most dealers have 'fast lube' lanes now and they dont use very qualified techs to change oil, pretty much jiffy-lube qualified, ALWAYS check the oil when you get it back and keep an eye out for leaks. Two quarts in 4000 miles is a lot but not unheard of, but when it comes down to it GM will try to tell you 1 qt per 1000 miles is acceptable. Get it changed, check it when you get it back to make sure you are starting full and check it every 1000 miles or so to see where you are at.

There is a low oil sensor in the pan. If you are 100% sure the oil is OK on the dipstick then most likely its a problem with the sensor/connector/wiring. There was someone who posted a broken connector near his oils pan and he was getting a low oil warning. I'm not sure where the level sensor connector is but maybe its in a bad spot and was damaged the last oil change.

You have to drive it for a bit after the battery is disconnected and it will go back up. GM bulletin in this thread: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/176957-2015-silverado-1500-temperature-gauge-stuck-at-32-degrees/
