  1. I’m offended they put my Silverado on the same list as Honda Ridgline! I see my therapist in a couple days, I will be discussing this and be requesting stronger medication. ? Good grief!
  2. I have the VanTrue OnDash N2 Pro cam, its hard wired in and I put a 128 gb card in it. The instructions say the biggest you can go is 64 but with the 128 I get 3 full days of recording (with me driving, just parked in the driveway I imagine it would go the whole week. It catches motion 24/7. It saves the recordings in 5 minute blocks. It has the rear view camera but, I have a headache rack with louvers so the view of what’s behind me is limited. It doesn’t draw much juice as I’ve been out of town for 7-10 days and the trucks battery would be fine. My biggest gripe is viewing the memory card. A card reader doesn’t seem to handle 128 gb. The best way for me to view footage besides that tiny little screen on the unit is to bring the unit inside and connect it to my TV and then I can see it on a 65” screen. Yes, it records audio so it records cussing at various idiot drivers, phone conversations etc etc. Oh, the recording during phone conversations; I had a client owe me money, he would never admit to it in emails or texting but, I had it recorded via speaker phone conversations in the truck! (I’m finally supposed to be getting that check this week ) I got the dash cam because I had someone put their stick shift car in reverse and slam into me but it looked like I ran into him! How do you prove that without a camera???
  3. I have the MRBP exhaust and I’m not happy with it. In fact I think I am taking it off tomorrow and putting my stock back on. Next weekend I will be towing a camper and the drone will drive me crazy. Also, it’s been on for a year maybe a year and half and its already rusting (its supposed to be stainless and I was thinking it would take longer to rust, I live on the coast so salt air will rust any steel sooner or later, I was hoping later)
  4. I just do happened to order this today. I will post what it does for me once I get it installed.
  5. I’m wanting to swap out my blacked out work truck grille for a Z71 grille. The grille is easily found in high gloss black with the chrome bars as pictured. However the trim around the headlights and the upper cap on the bumper I can’t find in high gloss black. Buying the pieces “ready to paint” seems to be 2 -3 times as much as the textured black that I now have. Can’t I just prime my pieces with a heavy filler type primer, then sand smooth and paint? Has anybody done this? And did it work is the question... Thanks for your help!
  6. The only thing I can figure is these guys with the great mileage are treating the gas pedal like an egg and they are easing that thing, making it a competition to see how great a mileage they can get. I ain’t got time for all that I just want to get in and drive it and I don’t mean I race to each place.
  7. What’s everyone doing about the oil filter change? On the V6 its above the plastic shield and I catch heck trying to remove the filter without making a mess. Filter relocation?
  8. Wow! My 4.3 really does suck! I have been cussing it since I bought it. I average 15-16 mpg. I drive 50/50 city/highway and around 400 miles per week. It’s a 2wd double cab, I do carry probably 500lbs in the back; tools and such inside a built in storage system that I added about 6 months or so ago but that hasn’t changed anything. I have had the truck for over 2 years. The Charleston SC area is basically flat as you can get.
  9. I guess I need to check out "Apple CarPlay" that y'all are hyped up about. I hate cords. I go through one every 6-9 months in the truck. I only use it for charging my phone when it absolutely needs charging. Otherwise, I just let everything go through the Bluetooth connection. The only thing that I notice when I'm plugged into the center console is the cool little album covers per song and I don't get the hiccup every now and then that I get on Bluetooth. I admit I would love to do a hidden cord that comes out where I have my phone mounted, to the left of the steering wheel, kind of the bottom corner of the windshield but not if I have replace the cord every 6-9 months. I use Apple's cords, what are y'all using? Sorry to temporarily sidetrack the thread.
  10. I guess I was expecting/hoping for mpg to be 18-20 mpg, then settling for a V6 would feel better. I've had trucks for ....wow almost 30 years, feeling old now... have motors come a long ways...yes, but just like the old straight 6's vs V8, you can tell when you have a either the 6 cylinder or the V8. I've always been a bit of a gearhead so you can throw that into the equation. I liked a V6 when I had a little Chevy S-10, that V6 was a good one, it outlasted the truck! When I traded that in, it felt like I had worn that truck down to just me, the bench seat, motor and trans, everything else was disintegrating, body rusted out, brakes were shot. With the 4.3 and the 5.3 being so close, I'm skipping to the 6.2 or whatever they have that's similar in 2020 (I'm holding out and promised the wife I would keep the truck 5 years) unless the motor they put in the 2020 is a brand new 1st edition type, as we all know there's kinks to work out when something brand new comes out.
  11. I knew I wasn't going to get phenomenal mpg, dang salesmen, I fell for the truck because of the black out package and I got a good price. I had vowed I would never buy another V6, in which I vow again. I've warned the wife, I ain't settling for *&^%#@ next time, I'm getting exactly what I want. I practically live in the truck so I might as well (house is paid for, truck payment is basically my only bill). Like others have said they have a hard time selling the V6 unless there's a hike in the price of gas. In reality the mileage is not that great. I know its a whole lot better than they were 20 years ago so I don't want to hear how great blah blah blah.
  12. I've had my 4.3 for a year and a half and consistently get 17mpg. My driving is a mix of highway and city. I might could get 22 mpg on the highway with cruise set at 55. So for myself the 4.3 has been rather disappointing.
  13. I get it, you like your 4.3. I think it's just ok.
  14. I'm hoping a tune will fix my 4.3 slug, I have driven other makes and models with V6's in them and I know GM could make them with a little more zip. I'm not talking about racing anyone or any of that nonsense, I'm simply talking about zipping out into traffic and such. I was given a 2017 Expedition as a rental while my truck was in the shop and that had the 3.5 in it and that thing had some zip. If Ford could do it, GM can. I think GM just has them programmed to optimize fuel mileage. I know the new 4.3 is faster than the older V8's, as some punk kid was coaxing me to race him in his dualed out Tahoe as we ended up side by side at a couple red lights, I ended up blowing his doors off.
