  1. SInce the 2014 Impala, the new version of Mylink/Intellilink have supported NTFS. My 2014 Malibu with the old Mylink only does FAT32. My 2015 Silverado LTZ doesn't mention NTFS but it does work as does my 256GB USB Hard Disk. I currently have 128GB SD card in with my collection and it works well.
  2. My 2015 LTZ did the squeak going from 4 to 8cyl mode. Weirdly enough after 12k or so it stopped doing it and hasn't squeaked since and I have just under 30k on it. Other than that the truck has been bulletproof no issues with anything.
  3. I have my folders named by encode type (MP3,WMA etc....) as I hate traversing folders by artist, album etc...and this way I know which old encodes I need to re-do at some point when I have time as having over a TB of music makes traversing folders a big pain in the rear as my collection spans from the late 90s. I ensure every file has the correct metadata (album, artist bitrate etc...) and let the music program sort it out. Never had an issue and catalogs 100% every time. I did find an odd but welcome surprise the other day in that my 2015 Silverado LTZ recognized my 512GB SSD drive. I like that they support NTFS on the new systems and not just FAT32. I know everyone does it different but back to the original question, I don't think it is possible to disable the audible warning. I just push the voice button again and it will beep for a command.
  4. not necessarily. Depends on the source material. I'm far from an audiophile as well but a good balance is 192k encodes with 320 on the high end. Also take into account many people have collections created back when cars didn't read anything but 192k and lower bitrates and asking them to re-encode collections is not practical. Radios have circuitry today to make crappy encodes sound decent but not great. I find .WMA format gives better overall quality in a lower bitrate and smaller file than a higher bitrate MP3. People hate WMA though because it's cool to hate Microsoft on the internet.
  5. Depends on the codec used is what determines the space. MP3, MP4,WMA etc... as well as bitrate of the encode as higher bitrate will take more space. You can fit 30,000 songs in 64GB easily using low bitrate with room to spare. If I recall the 2014 and up mylink have I believe a 6000 or 8000 limit before you can't select individual songs and the warning announces. One can still select albums though. The weird thing is the mylink on my 2014 Malibu has a higher limit than the newer mylink. In the grand scheme though I have 20,000 files and the index time is ridiculous even though I never remove the darn USB stick.
