  1. Wouldn't that be something... Wonder what it would cost to get my preload checked at local 4x4 shop?
  2. Seems almost to be the preload setting as opposed to anything wrong with ring and pinion. Idk though.
  3. Not sure if any of you are on the "Silverado Addicts" Group on Facebook, but here is this:
  4. http://vibratesoftware.com/2016/12/26/nvh-app-the-chevy-chevrolet-shake-no-one-fix/ Holy shit.
  5. Necropost, sorry. Finally killed the Chevy shakes and am proud to post about my truck again LOL 2015 Silverado V6 Crew 4wd, RCX 7.5" lift, 35x12.5r20 Nitto EXOgrapplers on Grid Off-road Rims. Say what they want about the 4.3. I drove many stock Silverados during my time looking for a truck and loaners during my shake issues. Maybe I got a good one, but I would stand it against any of those on the line. Had a 2002 Sonoma 4wd 4.3 and it wasn't this fast. The auto transmission leaves some to be desired, but shift points need help. People really don't understand how this motor performs. However, I am honestly not aware of everything that the off-road company did before I bought it. When the warranty runs out I'll tear into it and regear both front and rear, custom tune, getting a nice set of coilovers to replace the RCX front spacers, full Moog front end, replacements of various RCX parts with custom fabbed. Especially the TRe extensions, they really seem cheesy. MagnaFlow exhaust 1-2out. K&N conical air filter, NGK iridium plugs, 54" light bar with RCX mounts.... Damnit man... Those are all just dreams for now... Meanwhile, in the words of my great granddad... "WE can race, or YOU can shutit"
  6. Okay. I've heard it both ways. Can an alignment CAUSE a vibration?
  7. So. How much should someone charge me to install Yukon axles on my pickup?
  8. Well, as someone here guessed it, the bad vibrations are back. Going tonight to trade this piece of shit in on a 2500HD, hopefully. Going to a different dealership as well because I am tired of driving an hour plus every week for a shake that noone seems to have figured out.
  9. Also, about 8 standard pallets in the short bed did not improve the vibration on that particular stretch. Other stretches of road that used to do it, do not anymore. the tuning fork effect may have some merit.... harmonic vibration is real... but this is the truck I bought and I am finally happy with it
  10. Strangest thing... definitely a reminiscent vibration today at 45mph on highway. Once road surface changed, vibe went away. Speed stayed exact on cruise control. Felt... slower frequency... I honestly wonder if the frame and wheelbase and road contact all have something to do with it... but, I'm lifted 6" on 20" rims and 35" Nitto Exo Grapplers, I can live with some amount of a harsh ride, very stiff sidewall on those tires anyhow. For note, even switching to stock rims and tires did not fix my vibe. Only once the driveshaft get balanced with 3 weights near the rear did it ride smooth. Have had numerous folks drive and ride it, they day it rides like a Cadillac, Ill take that.
  11. So... long story short, picoscope showed a vibration in the speed and rpm range i told them, about 35-50 and 3 weights were added to the driveshaft.... seems to have improved the ride, but after driving the same roads in a 2012 Impala 2017 Silverado crew cab and the wife's 15 Sonic, I am apt to think all the roads here in eastern NC have a certain harmonic on vehicles in the 35-50mph range, unless all 4 vehicles had terrible balance and beatup suspension... I would say my vibration has eased to the point that I am not unhappy with my purchase any longer. I would like to change the rough country shocks to bilsteins though. The truck with a 6" lift and 35" Nitto exograpplers rides very very smooth according to all my passengers as well. And the service department was actually very proactive, just took a lot of unnecessary prodding from myself and the wife. Once they started getting the daily 3pm phone call from one or the other, the ball rolled.
  12. Okay, just heard from the dealership. Picoscope revealed a vibration at 40-50mph (well, no duh).... Driveshaft is MY culprit... so they say... Should know later in the week. Till then, I'm in the dealership's impala..
  13. Cold weather seemed to minimize my vibration as well... something in the metallurgy of the rear end components perhaps?
  14. So, called dealership today to check status. Got told I would have to pay $150 for a picoscope. A visit and a hell raising changed that. Told them give me my fking pickup and I'll take it down the road to the Ford stealership... that changed their tune. Now they're going to do picoscope for free (surprise surprise) and should let me know the results tomorrow. Not very optimistic. Left in the loaner and immediately went to the Ford shop, no Raptors in stock unfortunately, because that's about the only thing I'll trade out for. They're trying to blame my vibration on the one time I got stuck in the mud and needed a tug to get out "tweaked something" is what they keep claiming. If a 2015 4WD can't take a tug without something going wonky, then it's a piece of shit. Ive been tugging 4wd pickups for years, don't give me that line. So, called dealership today to check status.
