  1. Just found this thread and seeing the pics of these trucks has me very excited for my upcoming order, Placed my order on 04/26 for my CC Standard bed, Pacific Blue Sierra Denali with the Walnut brown interior, this will be my 5th new GM Truck however it is my first ever factory order, i'm interested in anyone who might have suggestions on the best way to keep track of its progress be that through a dealer, through GM or online? TIA

  3. For what its worth I have always just bought the large green microfiber drying towels from Walmart, they have worked just as well as the CG microfiber towels for a fraction of the price, I use CG MR.PINK soap which I have been very happy with.
  4. Looks awesome! Really like how well integrated those AMP powersteps are, is there much retrofitting required to make them operate properly? I like the design of those better then the factory power board that only slide in/out and dont really tuck out of the way at all.
  5. Havent personally ever had this issue with my 17' but perhaps you could try the old top gear method: 1) Stand just beyond whatever point the remote entry stops working 2) Hold the end of the remote tight against the temple of your head and press the lock or unlock button This will allow your body to become essentially a large radio antenna booster so If the remote entry then works its an easy way to know its a weak signal issue either from a low battery in the remote or an issue with the receiver within the truck.
  6. I think your thoughts to go with a Silverado 1500 are absolutely bang on for the type of driving and towing you want to do. Yes on every forum there will always be people who will say anything more then a utility trailer requires a heavy duty to be safe but thats simply not true with the modern GM trucks, the hyroformed steel frame, brakes, suspension and transmission of the 1500 is more then capable of handling a 6-7,000lb trailer safely. I tow my 8.5x24ft enclosed trailer about once a month loaded to around 7,500lbs and usually travel anywhere from 200-500 miles with 4 guys in the cab of the truck, it squats about 2.5 inches but rides very smooth I have never experienced any major sway or undulation when on rough roads. Yes if towing/hauling is all you do there is no doubt a 2500+ series truck is a beefier platform and would be more suited to that lifestyle but a heavy duty is a pig to daily drive compared to the 1500, and the difference in ride quality is night and day, I would not want to commute for long periods unloaded with a heavy duty. If you are like me and tow occasionally and tow less then 10k do yourself a favor and stick with your initial gut feeling, a 1500 is the right truck for you. Plus the majority of the time when you need your truck to just be an unloaded commuter vehicle the 1500 blows the heavy duty out of the water, it has vastly superior fuel mileage when unloaded as well as a smooth quiet ride. There are only three options you need to have on your new truck: -Tow Package (max is great but not necessary) -3.42 gearing -trailer brake controller
  7. Sorry if it was mentioned but I didn't notice if you said how cold it was in Texas when you were using the remote start, I know it is only supposed to activate the heaters below 10C (50F) If you are looking for confirmation to see if they are activated remote start the truck then when you get in as you turn the key to the on position keep a close watch on the heated seats lights they should momentarily flash on before immediately turning off again which signal they we active with the remote start and are now off and require you to push the button again to reactivate. This is the case in both my truck and my wife's Buick.
  8. +1 For Column Shift and proximity key I love that GM is has stuck with the column shift even on its high end Trucks, both Ram and Ford assume as soon as you want a premium truck you must want a console shift like a luxury car, but as others have mentioned even in Luxo trim guys still do actual work with these things and the column shift is the most efficient for keeping maximum console space while still having the positive feel/feedback of changing gears compared to Rams rotary dial. I wouldn't mind seeing the proximity entry especially now that the tailgate lock is tied in with the door locks, several times I have come up to the back of the truck carrying something heavy and it would be very nice to just grab the handle and have the tailgate unlock rather then trying to fish the keys out of a jacket pocket
  9. Finally enough snow to take the MXZ out for the first ride of the season!
  10. I would agree and say try for a replacement trans I have owned two trucks with the 8L90 including my current 2016 Silverado and although I found both 8-Speed trucks did shift firmer then my 2015 6-Speed truck neither exhibited any kind off noise or lugging, hopefully they get you issue resolved because I love the 8 gears I found it made a drastic improvement in my fuel economy and towing over the older 6-speed.

  14. Thanks a lot for the responses guys that's great to hear that the tow/haul mode seems to work so effectively and looks like guys are seeing notably better fuel efficiency under load compared to the number's I used to get with my Ford. I will report back with my towing comparisons once I have a chance to pull my trailers with this truck but based on what everyone has said I am looking forward it.
