  1. I I replaced my struts at 45k with part number 84061228 and jit rides much better than the original ones. i also just saw an even newer part available 84176631. When these struts totally fail they ride like hell and you must replace them asap! It feels like no shocks and springs, just solid and extremely dangerous!! I mean stiff as hell. I also upgraded my 2015 suburbans tires to the BF goodrich plus (linked below). These tires are oem on the Escalade and do ride much better with less road noise. Still booms in 4 cyl mode at speeds like 25mph and a couple different conditions. If you do mostly highway driving you should be fine, but at this price point it's ridiculous to even say such a thing .lol . https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Dueler+H%2FL+Alenza+Plus&partnum=845HR2HLALNP&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&&autoMake=Chevrolet&autoYear=2015&autoModel=Suburban&autoModClar=LTZ&&autoMake=Chevrolet&autoYear=2015&autoModel=Suburban&autoModClar=LTZ
  2. I gave up on magneride with 22" wheels the worst strut I have ever owned! I took one strut out that was flat and it stilled had some type of resistance even though the fluid was gone. My guess with no fuse there would be no dampening. I decided I'd be going with Bilstein 5100 and Eibach now. SLT is the story of less being more! Stay away from magneride is my advice.
  3. I gave up on returning and the truck. $2000.00. I wasted enough time and money on these issues. I even considered the Escalade and wasn't impressed the same thing, bucket seats have studs sticking out 1" above the floor board in the rear and the carpet looks like patches, the headliner the same, tv's the same, as well as the same thin sheetmetal. I asked the salesman about the ride and have people expressed it being a little harsh and replied "well its a truck" I appreciate his honesty! I wasn't even interested in a test drive at that point. Factory support is a joke, I think they're under the legal department pretending to wanna be helpful to show action was taken and that we do care and we are documenting for legal .. I drive this truck for a living and I cant go to the government like GM did with a banner and expect a bailout. Nope, no government bailouts for us. We need to keep working. - I decided to work with what I have. Getting rid of the Magneride struts and replacing them with Bilstein 5100's isn't as easy as I thought it would be. Need to replace the strut mounts and springs as well. Bilstein doesn't have anything for the LTZ and the springs for the LTZ are also different than the lt. I'm looking at Eibach for a replacement that his zero drop.
  4. You made some good points and one would think that would be the logic from the manufacture but keep in mind they also need to show profit and these trucks are probably still the only source of profit to GM. Others have stated that a more expensive Rancho (5000's) they installed on their trucks gives a better more stable ride. I'm not surprised. There are many mods out there that can make these trucks do a lot more but this is case of basic. -Like does the truck feel good at 25mph on the streets of New York? No (I assure you the LTZ is bad advice!!) I have over 50,000 miles on a 15 Suburban LTZ (essentially a Silverado High Country with a fancy cap for $20,000.00 more) Trust me less is more. I bought the LTZ with your logic in mind and it was a very expensive mistake! Due Diligence before you buy!!! I know ride is highly subjective and one knows a bad ride when they experience it.. I'm experimenting with shocks for an LTZ Suburban and the LTZ with 22" wheels is horrid even at low speeds! At highway speeds hit any expansion joint and the truck sounds like a subwoofer exploded! From the Escalade to the Tahoe the Magneride is Awful! (Many boards on this problem.) It's beyond the shocks alone on the LTZ I'm looking at Eibach springs as well. Bilstein hasn't a direct replacement for the LTZ so I need to do my own research with that. I would suggest one stay away from LTZ for sure a ripoff. To answer Texas 18's question I like the Z71 setup and would probably still replace the Shocks and struts with Bilstein's! You'd have a truck that rides better than an LTZ for sure and the mod would be just the struts and not springs and Strut mounts etc..
  5. Has anyone replaced these Suburban struts with Bilsteins or Fox yet?
  6. Manfredi, I Reyes dealing with once and they wanted to charge me to troubleshoot the problem. I said thanks but no thanks. Oil change tire rotation and good day! They gave the car back with greasy paper floor protectors and oily footprints on the running boards.. A closer look at the wheel locks reveal a socket and a hammer was used to take the wheel locks off instead of asking for the me for the wheel lock key. Potamkin is better but they're all the way out in Harlem. Chevrolet of Jersey city is the last place I went and trust this place at all.. I have one last visit scheduled there after I gave them a bad review on the GM dealer service review survey a GM representive called and asked if she could help get this warranty work done. I replied just let them do the struts. I had some people in the car with me when j was driving through Brooklyn to get on the Manhattan bridge ask me if My tire blew out!!! lol I replied no and blamed the mayor for not fixing the roads.
  7. I think the Z71 has different shocks and struts as well as different tires. A lot of difference in setup with all these trucks. The trucks are solid in the sense of Frame and body and very good crash tests.. A recent software update corrected the feeling that of a 5 speed stick matted to a v8 engine running on 4 cylinders in 4th gear doing 32 miles an hour with slight acceleration... Yes. A lot of inwanted vibration. O guess someone new to programming transmissions is about the equivalent as someone new to driving a stick.. Glad it has been improved!! some things I think these trucks may all still have in common are: - the tin can likeness.. Gravel on the rockers, wheel wells and under body resonate through the cabin like you're in a old cargo van. A little Shultz would have went a long way here. - carpeting is piecemeal. If you peak back the carpet behind the rear seat you will see the studs sticking up like an inch over the nuts. lol -the back up camera looks worse than my wife's 2004 Lexus gx470! As well as awful radio reception' - the seat cushions are great until they start to wear out and wear out quickly they do! When you feel that alert probe in your right thigh. My dealers fix was to replace the seat cusion and leave the probe dangling on under the seat. And while they were at they have me the truck back with the lane departure warning turned off.. Well trained guys at jersey city Chevrolet. Even had a service excellence plaque on the wall.lol these guys are worse than shade tree used car people. I believe they'll take engine bulb out of your dash.. Never going there again!!! In the meantime I'm shopping for struts and wheels and tires and a few cans of Shultz. Never thought in my life that would buy an $80,000.00 dollar truck that needs to modified just for every day 25-35 mph street use...(granted the streets of New York are a lot like off roading) Probably should have waited for the Z71 to come out.
  8. A little off topic but does anyone know if the Bilsteins would work on a 15 suburban LTZ? Their isn't anything official from Bilsteins for the Ltz I don't think.. Just started researching tonight.
  9. I have gotten a few complaints from passengers the noise and the rough ride, more so last spring when the roads in the city were in worse shape. One must admit the truck looks good! It's like the hot girlfriend that is loud and has no manners. lol. Regardless, your right Bkackbcar bases and Uber are snapping these things up because they look great! But, if I start getting complaints and people canceling because its a 2015 GM truck I'm gonna be livid. I mean I bought a luxery truck for my own comfort as well. Instead I have a massive headache. I am getting canclations from some people became they don't want to ride in an SUV, but none have said no suburbans. If the 2017 Navigator from Lincoln is a hit GM is gonna have slot of SUV's on them lots. Just like the town car dominated the black car market in the past. Intel you what, GM will not get another 80k (with tax title and license) from me again that's for sure if they don't do the right thing.
  10. If I may chime in on this booming. I've 2015 Suburban LTZ $74k sticker. I drive for Uber and a few other black car services in NYC and have done over 20k miles so far this year in mixed highway and city driving. I was also a body tech for over 15 years experience. I was also an auto body tech for Sewell Auto Group in Dallas TX. Excellent dealer by the way! - There is hardly any sound proofing in these trucks, (my truck) when it rains it sounds like I'm under a tin roof with. Unbearably loud at times! The rear quarter panels same thing, just have someone tap on them with their nails on either quarter panel while you sit in the back set or any where for that matter and you will hear what sounds like a tin drum inside. Drive on a road with some loose asphalt and again you hear every single pebble striking the rear wheel-wells. - The (25, 35 45 etc.. mph) sound we're hearing is to do with 1) Cabin sound proofing. 2) suspension booming like hell on the slightest crack or bump.. I have the 22" wheels too, and ugh!! 3) These trucks are obviously tuned for high mpg's and low performance and under very soft acceleration in 4cyl mode you hear a shuddering coming from the drivetrain (what sounds and feels like a manual transmission in the wrong gear, i,e too slow a speed for a high gear). My warranty is almost up and I use this SUV for a living and man do I have a headache at the end of the day after driving for like 12 hours and booming going on !! I'm gonna try the dealer this week, for the record.. And after the bumper to bumper warranty is up if they don't fix my plan is to bite the bullet and spend a weekend taking the truck apart to do the sound deadening myself and document it all with pictures everything. I mean quarter panels, wheel wells, roof.. I don't think the ribs are enough for the roof. I plan on researching a sound deadening spray for there too! Other issues: -Drivers seat alert vibrating probes are coming through the cushioning of the seat and feels like the springs at first I thought. Do not plan on the seats lasting long in this truck! -Rear carpet looks like piecemeal.lol. Behind the second row bench seats I have the bolts almost about through the carpet.lol -I anticipate paint issues with these trucks too. small chip on roof already rusting. Other areas paint chips reveal hardly any paint material. other areas missing paint primer cleared over.. Left rear quarter panel already looks like the clear is starting to separate from the base-coat. -clunking driveline sometimes the tranny down then upshifts in under a second making a clunking sound! Horrid!! also going from reverse to drive or park to drive etc.. -Radio reception is awful. -Backup camera awful. in comparison to my wifes 2004 lexus gx 470. -Suspension creaking over speed-bumps. -left side mirror led light keeps falling out. -Middle of the dash is starting to make a rattling sound! -Drivers seat bracket/frame is clunking sounds loose or the base... -Battery failed me in Demarest New Jersey and I was on a job for my most important client NBA Basket ball player. I figure I put the on-star to the task and call for roadside. I tell them the battery needs replacing and they respond we don't carry batteries for roadside get a boost and drive to dealer I say ok a boost and I'll take my client to the Airport and swing By Potamkin Chevrolet for a new battery. What can go wrong? I get to Potamkin at 12noon on a Friday I tell them battery is bad if you shut it off the truck probably wont start. They tell me they cant do it until Monday. On-star will help me find another dealer, right? Wrong! Constar receptionist tells me she called 5 dealers in the area and they wont help. Im in the middle of Harlem 2495 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10035 2 hours from home and I cant shut my truck off.... Needless to say, I'm canceling Constar next! $40.00 a month for what? LIP-SERVICE ? It's a shame to have to pay over a thousand dollar a month car payment for 5 years for a vehicle that has such issues and a dealer network in New York that is so lacking!!! Mercedes on the other hand I have a 2001 ML430 battery went bad called roadside guy comes out replaces the battery and only paid for the battery. The seats in the 2001 benz are almost exactly as it was brand new..
