Whirring / Whining Noise 6L80
SavageSierra replied to movario's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
I appreciate the reply. My truck is going to a transmission shop in a couple days. It has been whining like the video for about a month. It just started shuddering a little bit too. I dropped the pan and there was no metal floating around just “normal” amounts on the magnet. I also changed the filter and have been driving it for two weeks with no improvement. We’ll see what the shop says about the shuddering and whining. Might be time for torque converter. I’ll post an update once I know more. -

Mine has the exact symptoms. Did you figure out what it was? Torque converter? -
Rough idle when coming to stop
SavageSierra replied to 2015Z71's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
Well after 10,000 miles of driving with the new motor mounts installed i can certainly say that my engine vibration at idle has diminished significantly (90% gone). On occasion i will still get a slight shake but it doesn't bother me. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but i have also started running 89 octane gas religiously and it certainly feels like the truck runs and idles smoother. My truck will go back to shaking if i run 87 and it really doesn't run much better on 91. At first i thought it was placebo effect but after 30+ tanks of fuel (with a couple 87 fill ups in between) i can definitely say that 89 octane is the way to go (for my truck at least). -

Its all in the bio but just for clarification i installed a rough country 2" leveling kit (not the 2.5") and i am running 275/70/18 BFG KO2's. I have no rubbing whatsoever and my mileage was not affected too much. However, my speedo is off by 2mph which isn't that big of a deal but it is worth noting. -

Rough Idle = New Motor Mounts?

Had the new mounts put in didn't solve the issue. -
Rough idle when coming to stop
SavageSierra replied to 2015Z71's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
I had the redesigned motor mounts put in my truck and it didn't change anything. Still have rough idle/shaking when stopped. -
Did you ever find a solution to the idle drop? My truck is doing the same thing at stop lights and it makes the truck shake then recover just like yours.

Had the same thing happen on my truck. Restarted the engine and it came back on but would continuously freeze. The dealer reprogrammed it with the latest software update and it cleared up the issues.

Rough Idle = New Motor Mounts?
SavageSierra replied to SavageSierra's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
Mine is only noticeable at idle when warm. I've had the truck since new and right off the lot you could feel the engine running but it was still smoother than it is now. Passengers that aren't familiar with the truck notice it and it will make water inside of a bottle move quite a bit. The thing that shocked me is that the dealer actually acknowledged the vibration issue, which is cool I guess. -
Rough Idle = New Motor Mounts?

anyone else? -
I took my 2015 GMC Sierra 4x4 in for a rough idle that i have been having which is most noticeable when the vehicle is up to operating temp and in gear at a stop. The dealer shimmed the motor mounts but was unable to get the rough idle to go away. They said they called "GM" and they told them to replace both motor mounts because they are apparently defective. Has anyone ever experienced this and was it successful?

Can i run a 295/55/20 on a 20x9 0 offset rim with just a RC 2" leveling kit?
