2016 Silverado 1500 5.3 LT, 70K miles, AC out. compressor not engaging, sure enough I have freon leaking at the same weld as previously mentioned. -
My 2016 key fob buttons are beginning to wear, but nothing like the OP!! His fobs look like they boofed into a prison many times... I want to go with something like this: I just sent AJT Design an email to see if they can sell fobs with different color buttons like this one, I like the RED panic and BLUE remote start. $39 on AJTdesign-llc.com.

100k+ mile update for 2014+ trucks?
Brian2015 replied to Cjmooch's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
yeah I did front and rear diff and transfer case at 50K. The rear diff fluid was dark but the front and transfer case weren't that bad. Peace of mind though. I know it was done, properly. I'm voting in person to ensure my vote is counted. In PA a certain party has been caught throwing the opposing party's ballots in the trash. There are a lot of dead, ineligible and people casting multiple votes in PA. Especially in the urban areas where one party dominates the population. -

The diff and transfer case fluid change is very easy. I'm not a mechanic, I did it all a few hours, taking my time and having beers. I was surprised at how easy it is. A member posted a how to that made it super easy. DO IT! The trans fluid on the other hand, I'm going to have someone else do it. -

DIY: Rear diff fluid change - 2018 Sierra 5.3L 4x4
Brian2015 replied to YYC-SIERRA's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
I went with AC Delco Dexron VI full synthetic at the recommendation of a friend who builds racing transmission and race cars. He is a GM guy, and engineer by trade. He has a Silverado 3500 that pulls his car hauler and gigantic camper. For what I do (daily driver, hauling a light load (5x8 landscape trailer hauling tree stands, ATV hunting gear, tree trimmings). -

YYC-Sierra, thank you for the write up. I was going to take my truck to the stealership but after seeing this, I picked up AC Delco 75/90, 75/85 and AC Delco full synthetic trans fluid and did the rear diff and transfer case myself tonight. Doing the front diff tomorrow. This was the first service at 52K and to be honest, the transfer case fluid was still red, the rear gear lube was dark but not a whole lot of metal on the magnets. I feel better now that it's done. I would have done the front diff tonight but I have a skidplate that needs to be removed, didn't feel like doing it in the dark. -

I have an Elite Engineering catch can, it definitely collects moisture and oil. Especially if I'm running my truck hard. Is it saving my engine from carbon build up? I'll find out sooner or later. So far though, I have prevented a significant amount of oily moisture from reentering the intake.

I ended up running in TOW mode in city and towns and drive on the highway. I monitored transmission temps, they ranged from 190'F - 196'F. I averaged 16.8 MPG towing 70-75 MPH with a few 80MPH jaunts when passing or on hill descents. Could definitely feel the boat back there but wasn't a big deal. Tow mode helped get it moving on the hills and the grade braking going over 7 Mountains helped as well. Just hit 50K miles so I'm going to have the transmission fluid changed. I plan to do the transfer case and differentials myself.
