  1. Is it common for the vaccum type actuators to stop working on these trucks? I'm more familiar with the electronic type actuators found on the later Silverado trucks. My grandpa's 89 S15 seems to blow most of the cold air out of the floor vents...It does seem to change from dash to defrost, but not matter which mode is selected, the majority is still coming from the floor vent. On these 90+ degree days it takes a long time for the truck to cool down like this... What should I check first? it seems these older vacuum type actuators and HVAC controls are hard to find replacements for.....unless I'm mistaken.
  2. Another question on this truck… is it common for the A/C to blow mostly from the floor vent? No matter which mode I select, the majority of the cool air is coming from the floor vent, actuator appears to work as it changes from all floor, to dash vents to defrost, but the floor vent never shuts off
  3. Found this small line that is broken from the round cap on the air intake to the TBI any idea what it’s for?
  4. What compatible GM OEM wheels are you guys using on your S10/S15 trucks? I've seen pics of some of these trucks with Camaro wheels, etc. I'd like to see what GM wheels I could find locally or online that would work with an '89 S15 2WD.
  5. I did remove the right front speaker last night and verified the connection is good, but I had to move the balance completely to the right and turn volume almost 100% to hear just a little bit of audio. Video of the issue I have: https://youtu.be/_1InlkUv46w?t=353 Start around 6:00 min mark to see the issue. He is even installing new speakers and has the same issue.
  6. Been driving my grandpa's 1989 S15 around a few days and noticed the Left front (dash corner) speaker is the only one that actually works properly. I've tried adjusting the balance & fade to test the other speakers but the right front speaker barely plays audio and the rear speakers don't seem to work at all.... Before I try replacement speakers, are there any other tips to troubleshoot these? I've seen a video or two on youTube where the owner has the same issue with the S15/S10 from this generation and it just seems to be a known issue.
  7. Yesterday, I took a few minutes to look over the engine and see if I noticed any loose hoses as a starting point. I did find the Pre-Heather Hose from the Air Intake tube to the driver's side exhaust manifold is very loose and not secured to either fitting (each end) could this cause a vacuum issue? I also checked the air cleaner while I was looking and it was relatively new, so I didn't change it. But this morning after re-installing the air cleaner and pre-heater hose....the truck almost stalled a few times after first start. Once it warmed up, it was fine....
  8. I was going to check the engine mounts as well to make sure they're up to snuff
  9. Another thing i've noticed with this truck (and it may just be me) but it feels very sluggish when accelerating from a complete stop. I'm not familiar with how these smaller trucks perform.
  10. I think it may need a good tune up and overall check up. My grandpa doesn't drive it much to notice any issues, but today it had the vibration a lot worse, with or without A/C turned on.
  11. It has A/C and I've noticed the vibration with A/C on & off. I'm thinking a rough idle issue, but that's just my first guess. It also feels like it may be misfiring when accelerating from a complete stop. It's an A/T but feels like a manual.
  12. My grandpa has an '89 S15 2WD 4.3L with 90k miles on it. I've been driving it while my '97 K1500 is in the shop. I've noticed that when I come to a stop while the truck is at operating temp, the truck begins to have a very noticeable vibration. Doesn't matter if the truck is in Park or Drive, it shakes all over. But once I start moving it seems to go away. Seems like something engine related. I can feel it under the seat, on the gas pedal, steering wheel, and I even see the front of the truck "shaking" somewhat. I have a video of it that I can try sharing for reference. I'm not as familiar with these trucks as I am the K1500s, so I'm not aware of common issues... Any idea of where to start checking?
  13. I am looking for towing style mirrors not OEM replacements. I have OEM replacements now and they were a unknown brand from 1aauto. They were horrible.
