  1. I tow a 6k pound travel trailer with a 14 Silverado. I was tired of replacing warped rotors. I installed the PowerStop z36 slotted/vented rotors & carbon fiber ceramic brake pads on all 4 wheels. Huge difference over the stock brakes. They seemed rough at first, but after the proper break-in procedure, they're great.
  2. 14 Silverado w/5.3. Been using it for 2 yrs now. One thing I learned was to give it time to sync with the trucks computer by first turning on the ignition to where the dash lights up like a Christmas tree, then waiting until they go out, (approx 4 secs), before the final start. This will help to avoid any check engine lights or other codes from popping up.
  3. In 2015 I purchased a set of 5” oval step tubes. I bought the stainless steel version including stainless steel brackets & hardware. 2 years later in 2017, the nuts inside the bottom of the tubes, for the mounting brackets, rusted out to where the bolts started falling out. Steelcraft replaced the tubes under warranty. Skip ahead another 2 years to 2019, again the nuts have rusted out again with the same problem. This time Steelcraft refuses to honor their lifetime warranty. Apparently these tubes have a 2 year lifespan since both sets only lasted 2 years. Seems Steelcraft considers a “lifetime” to be 2 years. On a side note, those nuts inside the tubes that rust away are only carbon steel & not stainless steel like I paid for. Stainless steel would not have rusted out in 2 years. A serious design flaw.
  4. 2014 Silverado with 55k miles. All stock. Last week I replaced the infamous AC condenser, this week it needs new front wheel bearings. I wonder what next week will bring.
  5. Scaled my 2014 dbl cab 5.3L 4x4 just a few weeks ago. 5560 w/tri-fold soft tonneau & no driver.
  6. Apparently lots talk about how good it is but it seems no one uses one
  7. Has anyone with a 2014 or newer Silverado used the Range device (AFM Disabler) long term, 1 year or longer? Any codes or issues during that time?
  8. 2014, 5.3, 6 spd. 49k miles & no repairs needed. Tow 6k lb trailer. No issues, no lugging. Works as it should.
  9. I had a transmission shop do the work. Just had a heart stent done with 2 more to go, (because of only 1 kidney), so I'm not able to do the work myself right now. This new cooler & the existing cooler are run in tandem. Were the tubing was cut, it was flared for a proper seal with the clamp. small, angle shaped aluminum strips were used to mount the cooler away from the radiator so road dirt doesn't get packed between it & the radiator over time. I was expecting to see a dramatic drop in trans oil temp but such is not the case. There is a bypass valve in the factory trans line that bypasses the factory cooler until the fluid temp reaches a certain temp. The added cooler keeps the fluid temp down for a very long time. the normal operating temp on mine used to be 196° after a few miles of driving, but now keeps it much lower, much longer. I can drive 30 miles & the temp is still below 190°. The temp eventually does get into the 190° range, but even when it hits 194° in stop & go traffic, that is just temporary as it drops back down once you get moving again, something it has never done before. I haven't towed yet with this cooler on, but my guess is that it will not allow the trans oil temps to go up to the 205° range while driving or even the 228° it got to at one point as I was maneuvering & parking the 6K pound trailer. It will probably keep the trans oil temp below 200° now. They did drop the pan & change the filter. A lot more piece of mind!
  10. Just passed 40K on my 14 dbl cab, 5.3L, tow pkg. Had a battery go wonky at about 30K miles causing all sorts of codes & shutting things down. Battery was replaced under warranty. No other issues except for the few recalls so many others have, but at least these issues aren't swept under the rug. I tow so I just added a B&M 14400 BTU Supercooler trans cooler as well as dropped the trans pan to change the fluid.
  11. PEOPLE: This post is about how many miles are on your 2014, NOT about your mpg.
  12. How does leather wear off? I have leather coats that are years old that have never had the leather wear off. Is it really leather or an feau leather, pleather? I have never seen the leather of a 60k Lexus wear off at even 4x that mileage.
