issue Radio screen blackout
Chris Burch replied to bigdeer1's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
Well I too am in Central Texas, so the heat might be a cause, but not the whole issue. It will be interesting to see what GM does to fix this. I have a new HMI Module on order for mine, but they are on national back order, so who knows when they will become available? -
Dealer did a the software update and said it was fixed. Radio blacked out and dropped my Bluetooth while I was still in their parking lot. Back in it went! Had a GM Tech come out to look at it and this was what I was told. "The update is really all we can do, however if there are trouble codes stored for an error, then we can replace the radio." So it sounds like GM has no clue what is going on with this issue.

I am having the same problems with my 2016. Screen repeatedly goes black and when it does it drops the Bluetooth connection to my phone. Very frustrating!
