  1. The second dealer 'handled it' because I paid for the exchange to the new fluid. If I didn't have this community to have pointed me toward the fix, I wouldn't have even known about it. I would have trusted the dealer that said it was normal. Thanks for your well wishes. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and it looks like most disagree with my perspective here.
  2. All of the typical 8 speed issues discussed on the board applied. I've basically had the issues since new. I inquired about bulletin 18-NA-355 while under warranty. Dealer said that fluid change is a maintenance item and charged diagnostic fee for looking at trans under warranty. Transmission locked up so hard on an on-ramp it squealed the tires, so I took it to a different dealer and paid for the fluid exchange. It fixed my issues. After driving a couple hundred miles after the fluid exchange, I got a CEL for the trans temp sensor. I fixed that myself. There's a bulletin for special warranty coverage for the trans temp sensor on the 8 speed 6.2, but not the 8 speed 5.3.
  3. Over their failure to deal with their 8 speed transmission issues. After not getting service at the dealer, I wrote a letter to GM Customer Care. My case was assigned to a senior advisor who never answered his phone and would not call back until I called into the main number. Ultimately his supervisor called and told me GM would be doing nothing about my claim. It was a complete joke and waste of my time. I will be completing any maintenance and repairs that are remotely possible without a trip to a GM dealership and buying my next vehicle from another manufacturer.
  4. WTF? They must have used different sensors and harnesses in those attached to a 5.3, or the torque of the 6.2 causes problems in these electronic parts (LOL). Those with the 5.3 have the same issue. SMDH. It's probably because most of the 6.2L are in Denalis and those are the high margin trucks. Keep the smaller, high margin customer base happiest. From my perspective, they gaslighted me (and countless others) on the transmission issues until I was out of powertrain warranty, but then they are happy to charge hundreds to thousands to do what they wouldn't under warranty. Service advisors who lie to my face about what a procedure involves or that these trucks don't have a trans fluid filter. They just assume everyone that comes in the door is an idiot, but they need to start accepting that more information than ever is available online. I'll fix it myself even if I only save $100 just to not reward their scammy behavior. This was linked in another thread, but I would recommend this video for a how-to: As he states in the video, the harness part # is 24298757. I'd also recommend a filter TF922. The pan gasket is supposed to be reusable but is part # 24260071 if you want to replace that.
  5. FYI for anyone reading this thread, this only applies to the 6.2L + 8 speed. No luck on the 5.3L + 8 speed.
  6. I, like many others, have the 8 speed with harsh shifting and shudder. I've got around 61,000 miles and took the truck in one last time to try to get the TSB for trans flush and fill with the Mobil 1 fluid done while it was under warranty but the dealer wouldn't do it. I'm don't want to give them the money to do a pan drop/flush/whatever they would do and would prefer to drop the pan, change the filter, and refill myself. However, I don't have a lift or transfer pump to refill the trans. Can I DIY this? I read this thread: https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/234681-8-speed-fluid-and-filter-change/ What new pan are guys using that has a drain plug welded in? What transfer pump would you guys recommend to refill? Finally, with that transfer pump, could I pump the fluid out of the pan somehow so I don't dump it all over the floor before I remove all the pan bolts? I just see a lot of things potentially going wrong, but would prefer not to give the worthless dealer any of my money if I can avoid it.
  7. My truck has the factory nav and I have been pretty disappointed with it. I wouldn't spend money to add it after. Trying to get it to bring up an address via voice commands is almost comical some times. The voice recognition is terrible compared to Google maps. I always just use google maps through Android Auto.
  8. Do you need to have a flex fuel engine to run E-15 or will the standard injectors work? My internet searching led me nowhere.
