  1. Been lurking the forums and maybe this has been done or there's a forum for it somewhere. I guess this thread will be my journey on this swap, and help along the way if I messed something up lol. I have a donor 2003 Silverado SS, complete parts truck with the LQ9, 4L65E, 4.10 AWD Gear and all the goodies the SS came with (power interior leather etc) I also have a 2006 Silverado RCSB, 4.3L, 4L60E 2WD, 3.23 NON POSI with all manual options. Now, Engine swap is about the "easiest" part of this project. Obviously I would need the complete engine harness, ECM, Radiator, engine mounts (I'm assuming the frame perch's are the same) Wouldn't need the clutch fan because the 06 comes with an E Fan ?. If I chose to convert the 4L65e to RWD, I would have to change the output shaft and tailhousing. But if I stick to the 4L60 temporarily, I would need a 4L60 flywheel (Not hard to come by when I manage a auto wreckers) because I know for a fact the 4L65 is different. Possibly a transmission crossmember if a 4L65 is different, but I don't think it is IIRC. To convert the interior, I believe that to change the truck to all power factory options, I would require the power internals on the doors, the fuse blocks on both driver and passenger side for the doors to plug into, chassis harness with the BCM, the SS Column with the key to avoid any theft lock (and gain DIC and steering wheel controls) And since I'm using that chassis harness, I could use the Bose speakers, the radio and the automatic climate controls with it. I could also use the harness that connects to the floor for the power seats, the console and etc. Everything in that sense should be plug and play. I don't want to retain onstar, so I would just leave the module unplugged, and route the harness upwards for the rear view mirror, dome lights and the antenna (which if you wanted to keep onstar and drill the antenna onto the roof you would do) Now, being as the SS is an extended cab, the chassis harness SHOULD work with no major modification on a regular cab. A crew cab would not work without removing useless wires or adapting the harness completely. My truck doesn't have rear defrost, so I could eliminate that wire completely. I might have lots of wire above in the liner for the third brake light, but I have no idea until I piece apart the regular cab interior so I will edit this thread when I get to that part. If I'm missing anything, feel free to let me know. My next post will contain the start of the LQ9 swap, getting that working and will probably drive around with just the LQ9 swap. Possibly changing the gears to a 4.10 or atleast a posi unit 3.23/3.42.
  2. The feels of buying a Regular cab stepside with a V8 for once is so amazing
