I think the inspection by a known home inspector is worth it. My last one was around $400, and I got a nice binder with the results, a dvd with the results, and the guy emailed me a pdf file with the same. I find it helped with the sellers. Having an “expert” say that the 22yr old ac units needed to be replaced went much further than me saying the same thing. Saved me a ton of money in the long run. Every house needs something. I would say, you paid for the inspection, so it belongs to you. Don’t feel pressured to give it to anyone. If the inspection shows the panel box needs to be replaced, show them the part that mentions that when asking for an allowance for the panel box, not the whole inspection. Smaller items, I would just say a few “little things need attention” and not specify much else, just ask for a few bucks depending on what needs work or refreshment. If you’re fair and honest, most people will accept that.

As to hiring professionals to do things...make sure you investigate them thoroughly. I’ve been burned by a couple that had great reviews online. Don’t be afraid to call 3-4 of their past clients and go see their work. Make sure every single detail is in the contract and don’t give any more $$ up front than you’re willing to lose. There are a ton of great, fair, skilled contractors out there, but a lot of guys that are not. That’s been my biggest fail in home ownership. Hard learned lessons. Edit: use yout inspection to negotiate, even small items in need of repair can help shave a few bucks off.

2016 Silverado 1500 LT - Totaled - 2nd TRUCK!
StillOffshore replied to MRob's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
Damn, tough one to swallow there. I'm assuming you're okay...glad to hear that. Sucks though. Personally, I like stock except for matching the tint. Easier to "blend" in. -
I did the same as others, looked at a duramax colorado, ended up with a denali sierra for the same price. I fully intended to buy the smaller truck, but no dealer would budge on the price. I've actually been using the larger bed a lot, so it worked out well.

How many people smoke (legal stuff) in their new truck?
StillOffshore replied to Loco-diablo's topic in Off-Topic
That's pretty funny. Always some douche like that guy in the vape shops. I absolutely despise going in them. I consider going back to real cigarettes daily...but, then I think about how much money I save, and that I don't smell like a bonfire all the time. -

Haha...looks just like me. Must be my twin. (He's the creepy one, I don't wear socks with my flip flops) -

I've smoked in every vehicle I've owned except this one. I started the vape thing. I do vape in the new truck. I feel like a high school kid with it, but I'm down to zero nicotine now. Much cheaper too. Throw a bag of potpourri under the seat. I've had non-smokers claim they can't smell the cigarette smoke...depends on how sensitive a person's nose is though. I think as long as you don't hot box the truck, it'll be fine. Crack the window and keep it clean. Don't leave butts inside. Try rinsing the side of the truck down once a day. Just a quick spray of the hose, rinse off the ashes. -
What tint are you guys running with? Pics?
StillOffshore replied to Gingerly's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
I'd recommend the ceramic tint. Stuff really cuts the heat. Not too much more in my neck of the woods. -
Typical Battery Life on K2's?
StillOffshore replied to mookdoc6's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
I agree 100%. I seriously doubt GM put a used battery, or that the dealer would do so. The battery did have paint pen marks on it when i pulled it out of the truck. Sorta odd. It definitely died fairly quickly. Guess I got the last one made on a Friday afternoon. Oh well, not too worried about it. I have whatever fancy named top-o-the-line battery Autozone sells now. All is well again -

Mine made it 6 months and a whopping 1500 or so miles. Guy at autozone told me I had junkyard marks on the battery. It had a dead cell apparently. Bought the truck new with 10 miles on the clock. Kinda sucked, but now I know the battery is good. -
Looks like they forgot something on the front end.

Haha....don't anyone rush to sell me any. I'm not that motivated for them.

Steering wheel paddles not working
StillOffshore replied to Gmcga's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
My '16 does this from time to time on the left side. I thought I read somewhere that the function of the left side can be changed? It works most of the time, but still sorta annoying when it doesn't. -
Is it possible to add them to a truck without them? I have a denali, but without the power steps. I'd like the factory power steps.

GMC Sierra - SLT vs Denali
StillOffshore replied to jernatety's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
I have the denali....it's nothing more than a name and mrc. Coming from a tahoe, I really don't notice the suspension being that much better, but it's there. It operates like a suspension. I think I've said it before, I bought it because I've always wanted a black on black denali. Since they first came out. I just so happened to be in a position to purchase one at a decent price when I was in the market for a new vehicle. I think the SLT decked out is just as nice. Hell, the lower trim trucks are leaps and bounds nicer than my first truck...I'm sure most of us are driving a truck that is nicer than our first truck regardless of the trim levels.
