  1. Update on my situation: I took my truck back to 4 wheel parts last week. They originally told me they would take another look at the truck, but stated I should not need road force balancing unless something is wrong with the truck. I left the keys and while I was waiting for my friend to pick me up, another employee came up (assuming the manager) and said he didn't think there was anything that could be done as they had already looked at my truck once before (when they originally re-balanced it- not road force). He said they could replace the tires with a completely different brand and said some tires just dont work with certain vehicles. I am pretty sure KO2's work with Silverados as they are very popular and I have seen tons of them with those tires. I told him to have them take another look and that if it kept shaking I would consider it. I ask him if they could road force balance the tires and he stated that with a mud terrain or aggressive all terrain tread, they cannot be road force balance. He said the tread messes with the machine and it will not work properly. I had not heard of this before??? I started researching road force balancing and have seen many post on other truck forums with people having KO2's road force balance. I found a link on a Tacoma forum to Hunter showing shops that have their road force balancing machine. 4 Wheel parts was not on the list. What kind of road force balance machine would they be using? They ended up re-balancing my tires. I really dont want to switch out my tires, especially since I know the issue is likely with the installation (no vibrations prior to changing tires). I would like to get my truck road force balanced and see if that corrects the issue, but they obviously wont do it. I am considering taking it to the dealer or somewhere else with the Hunter machince, but really dont want to pay tons of money to have this done. What do yall think I should do?
  2. Thanks for the help. I will call to see how 4wheel parts has been balancing them and if they do or offer road force balancing. I am not familiar with this, so I dont know what the 15 lbs means or how it would change due to tire size. Hopefully I can get this fixed. If they dont do road force balancing would you recommend going to the dealership to have them balance or somewhere else?
  3. I had them install Bilstein 5100 shocks over a year ago. They did fine with that and I did not have any issues with vibrations afterwards.
  4. I have a 2015 double cab with 35k miles. I got new tires last week. I went from the stock dueller (255/70/17) to BFG KO2s (LT 265/70/17 load C). I never had the shake before, but now it started immediately after the new tires. I took the truck back to 4wheel parts who installed the tires and they rebalaced them. The shake is still occuring (~76mph +) and it seams worse than when I oroginally got the truck back. Has anyone else had this issue when changing tires? Also, my warranty will expire in ~500 miles. Do you think I should take it in to the dealer before the 36k mile warramty expires or just deal with 4wheel parts?
  5. Thanks for the responses. I actually ended up getting a deal on some BFG KO2's in 265/70/17 load C. They are ordered and will be installed the end of next week. The place I got them from is running a deal on Pro Comp wheels ($120 each). I haven't seen any negative reviews on this brand and I saw a few models I was interested in. My question now is will I rub if I get these. My original wheels are 17 x 8.5 (stock) and the new ones are 17 x 9. One set has a 0 offset and one has a -6. I'm not sure what the offset of my original wheels are. I have Bilstein 5100 shocks lifted to the .75" setting. I could potentially have the shop raise them up if needed, but I dont know how much this would cost. Does anyone this size tire with these offsets that can tell me if they rub?
  6. I have a 2015 Silverado with the stock 255/70/17 Bridgestone tires. The truck has ~35,000 miles and the tires are to the wear bar and are very slick when wet. The truck is a 2wd with the 4.3 engine. I don't drive in the snow much or drive off road too often, but I did get stuck several times last year in snow and mud, so I would like to switch to an all terrain tire. I also wanted to get larger tires, but do not want to significantly slow down the truck since it only has the 4.3. I was thinking about going with a 265/70/17, but can go larger as I have Bilstein 5100's on the .75" setting (one setting up from stock). I thought staying with a P tire would help since they wont weigh as much. I have been searching the forums and have narrowed down the following tires and wanted to see if some were recommended over others. These are in the 265/70/17 P tires, but may be willing to go larger if people have not noticed a big difference with the 4.3. If there is a difference I would be willing to stay with 255's. Nitto Terra Grappler G2 ($156)- Saw some comments saying these are not good on wet roads and become slick. Goodyear Duratrac ($190)- Some comments said these were loud compared to others. General Grabber AT2 ($149) Toyo Open Country A/T II ($170)
  7. Thanks for the responses. I'd still like some rake, so I am leaning towards the 3rd notch. Do y'all think the 3rd notch would look okay with stock 17" wheels (255/70/17) or will that make the tires look small?
  8. My new Bilstein 5100's came in over the weekend and I already installed the rear ones. It made a big difference. I am going to have a shop install the fronts, but I am having a hard time deciding what height to set them at. From what I have read on here the top setting will ride stiffer and will almost completely level the truck. I am looking for a good ride and to get rid of some of the rake- not necessarily a complete level. I still have stock tires (255/70/17), so I dont want the tires to look small. I will be getting new tires next year and will probably up the size to 265/70/17 or 275/70/17 (these may even fit on stock setting). I am leaning towards the first notch above the bottom or possibly the second (just below top setting). I think either of the new tire sizes would fit. Can anyone give me some advise and has anyone compared the ride between the two settings? Will my truck look dumb on the third setting with stock 17" wheels noted above?
  9. Ok I'll call my local Tire Kingdom. Did you buy the shocks online and then just have them install them? Also, can the shocks level the truck or are they just adjustable to accommodate a lift as the dealership told me?
  10. I have a 2015 2wd Silverado and I am looking at putting Bilstein 5100's on to level the truck and get a better ride. I called a local Chevrolet fleet and accessory dealership that I have gotten some accessories from before. They quoted $450 to get and install just the front two shocks. They said all four would be $900. This seamed extremely high based on some of the prices I saw on this forum. They also said I cant level the truck with just the shocks. They said the shocks are adjustable to accommodate a lift, but could not lift the truck themselves. This does not seam to match what I have read on hear. Is this correct or does this dealership not know what they are talking about? Based on the price they gave me, I am going to shop around. What is a good price to get all 4 installed?
