  1. Orlando. AutoNation Chevrolet Airport is the dealer that worked on my truck.
  2. Same here. If this problem occurs multiple times, I will be pursuing a buyback and will purchase an F250. The Lemon Law is pretty strong in Florida. 3 repeat problems that affect safety and 15 days out of service and it qualifies. I'm already well past 15 days. If I have repeat occurrences with the steering issue, I will have my attorney deal with it.
  3. When I got my truck back, the paperwork shows they replaced the "(S) GEAR", PN 84224694 and "FLUID", PN 19329448. I was told they replaced the Pitman Arm as well, but I don't see that reflected on the paperwork. It also shows: "13858 DIAG LOOSE STEERING. FOUND PINION ADJUSTING NUT MISSING AND BOX LEAKING. REPLACE STEERING BOX ASY AND BLEED SYSTEM" I'm assuming the missing nut mentioned is what others have referred to previously as being missing. So far only about 300 miles since I got it back, and all seems ok. I'll probably take it back to have them adjust the alignment a bit...it seems to pull very slightly to the right on roads and conditions that it never did before the problem.
  4. I took my truck in to my local dealer on Monday, 12/5. They told me the previous week that the part was there but they didn't have any service appointments, so Monday it was. I picked it up Monday afternoon. The steering is back to the way it was originally, except for a slight pull to the right. I'm going to have them do an alignment again to fix that. I only drove the truck 50 miles before I had to leave on Tuesday for a 2 week work trip, so the truck will sit until then. They replaced the steering box(with a "newly redesigned" box I was told) and the pitman arm. Hopefully I won't have any further issues, but I'm not confident. Time will tell. One of the service managers at the dealership told me he had never heard of this problem. I mentioned this site and the numerous people that have had the issue, and he exclaimed "don't believe all the lies you read on the internet". When I asked him why there would be 5 TSBs for this issue if it's all made up he responded with "that doesn't mean there's a widespread problem"... Luckily the service manager I was working with was not a dismissive jackass like this guy and actually listened and researched it a bit.
  5. Well, it sounds like it's a good thing that my local dealership went straight to "replace the steering box" rather than try to follow the TSB if it's that difficult to get right. The part finally arrived, and I take the truck in on Monday morning for the work. They said that's the first opening their HD specialists have. I didn't know there were specialists for certain vehicles at a dealership. Engine specialists I get, but guys specifically for HD trucks was a surprise. In the past couple weeks the slop has not gotten worse, but I've noticed that often when I make a slow, sharp right turn there's a thunk under my feet during the turn. It's hard to tell where it's coming from exactly. Mike
  6. Hey guys. New here, just joined after reading of these problems. I started searching when I had a problem with my 2016 Chevy 2500HD High Country Duramax. I bought it in April, and now have a bit over 13,000 miles on it. About 2 weeks ago, I realized, rather suddenly, that there was a lot of slop in the steering. I had been towing a 10-12k bumper pull trailer for most of the previous 6000 miles, but had no problem with steering. It seems that the problem occurred very rapidly. I immediately went to the local dealer(Autonation Chevrolet Airport in Orlando) and asked them to look at it. I purchased it from their sister dealership in Coral Gables, FL(Miami area). They had somebody come look at it right away, and he determined it needs a new steering box. They ordered it the following day, Nov 8th. When I asked if it was safe to drive the truck, I was told "yea, as long as you don't tow anything".... WTF?! What in the world is this truck for? I drove home and went to work 2 days later, and the truck now sits awaiting my return from work. Today I called the dealer to see if the part had arrived. I was told it was on back order, and they had no idea when it would arrive. I'm hoping it arrives soon, as I rely on this truck for towing a couple trailers. I'm hoping this is not an indication of things to come, and that Chevy solves the problem quickly. I struggled with the decision to buy another Ford or a Chevy this time, and the Chevy won out based on the interior of the truck. I think all the manufacturers have reliable engine/transmission combos these days, so it came down to creature comforts. Any suggestions to help expedite this fix? Thanks! Mike
