  1. Pointing to the my experience with my 1500. Too light and the 2500 too heavy. I wish a 1500 could do the job a 2500 could. The new style of 1500 has a much larger body than the previous generation, perhaps it is heavier, more capable. I'll have to test drive one.
  2. I've the 6.2 in a Denali. Love the power of it. Love the smooth ride. Empty, the fuel economy is fine. Basically it is a car in truck format. Hate the fuel tank size (too small), hate the bed capacity (limited), absolutely hate the 8sp transmission, hate that it requires high grade gas (octane +) and I dislike the mirrors. Win/lose. Ram has great mirrors. They can be pushed up and become tow mirrors Such a good solution and so functional. Don't know why GM cannot build a Denali 1500 with more tow payload available and a bigger gas tank. The 6.2 has more than enough torque to tow, and more than enough HP to make it hop. A 1500 is a good fit, but I want some of the capability a 2500 provides but do not want a 2500. Ref the 3.0l, I've read it requires plenty of DEF, uses a fair bit of oil and it isn't without hiccups. I won't buy another GM until I can pick the options that work for me.. currently grouping them or limiting them to packages works for GM... me not so much. The small mill diesel does nothing in terms of addressing the shortfalls I see. Just a different engine.. truck remains the same.
  3. So getting to 75MPH or 120 Kilometres per hour is how quick in comparison to gas? What is your experience towing?
  4. Same experience with the 2017. 8 speed transmission is terrible. I had it replaced with new because of the issues with it but it did not resolve the problem. New is no better. 1st and 2nd gear up and back. When coming to a stop, slowly, the truck will lurch forward. It feels as if the brakes are stopping the truck but they are, it is just that the transmission is a pos. GMC know that this is an issue and I see it as a safety issue. DOT should be involved. Not sure if the 10 spd is any different. Just 25K miles on my odometer.. been a problem since 10K.
  5. 22" tire. Same mileage (24k miles) as of today, cracking around the rim and what looks to be compression cracks along the wall of each tire. There also appears to be some distortion in the tire as well. Will contact Bridgestone because it is a safety issue. If that doesn't work out, I will submit a safety complaint to the DOT. My truck has been garage kept since purchase and all maintenance completed at my local dealership... including tire rotation etc.
  6. I've owned a 2500HD 6.6 diesel. Sold it but now wish I had kept it. Love the older style vs this new GM/Chev look. I now have a 6.2 Denali. Gas mileage has been surprisingly good. I average about 19-20 MPG, 11-12 L/100Km. On the highway doing 68 MPH, 110Km/h, I've gotten as good as 24 MPG, 9.5 L/100Km.. coasting really on a flat run... and empty of course. Towing about 5000 lbs, I run about 14-15 MPG or 15-16 L/100Km. It is the hills that are the killer and the crappy 8 speed trans that sucks gas from a small gas tank... makes for frequent stops and is a PITA. I note that when towing with the 3.0, it uses significant DEF.. requirement for the smaller diesel are very different than the 6.6. Regardless, I do not like the new style nor the increased size of the latest trucks. I find the seats smaller, less comfortable and the dead pedal changed that leaves little room to stretch. I'll keep what I have for now but if I could find a 2019 6.6 Denali, optioned the way I want it and low miles/KM, I'd trade... but definitely not the 3.0. I think Ram has a better 3.0L set up and has proven itself.
  7. GM is replacing some transmissions but even this doesn't resolve the fact that these transmissions are faulty from factory. From 1st to 2nd to 3rd and back.. roughest transmission I ever had in a truck.
  8. Great motor for skipping with nothing in the bed or towing. But then I could have a car for that. I looked into adding a bed tank for gas but it isn't allowed in my area. Ironic that I can carry five 5 gallon jugs but not have a tank in the bed.
  9. From what I've heard from those who've purchased the ten speed, it is smooth. GM should be replacing problematic 8 speeds with the ten speed if it would fit.
  10. I've heard from a few guys who have purchased the 3L diesel. They say that the truck drinks DEF when towing. Also, the oil changes are beaucoup $$, once the freebs are done. Carry plenty of DEF for long trips.
  11. His point is this is a new truck, it should have no issues. Who would tear a new truck apart? Good grief.
  12. I have had several resets on the computer relearn. Flush and valve replacement as well as the TC. Problem remains. I've also experienced a surge, as if the truck wants to ignore the brake and push me through a stop while downshifting and coming to a stop or when stopped. Now getting a new transmission but still concerned. Note that GM extended the warranty for this problem. The issue is that warranty exists in case of a problem, not because of one. What does one do once the extended warranty is done? I'd jump to the ten speed but the loss on my truck would be significant and I believe GM should belly up with some incentive to owners who want to buy a replacement.
  13. Three relearn resets. Transmission flush. TC changed. One more relearn reset. Still pushing and clunking. Still under warranty. GM wants to take the transmission apart to look at what is causing it. Should have kept my 2010.
  14. I wish there were a gas approved tank available for the bed.. diesel yes but not gas in my area. Ironic that I can put five jerry cans of gas in the bed but not a tank. I'd love to have a 30+ gallon tank with a pump or directly connected to the existing gas tank. I wouldn't necessary fill the bed tank but would use it primarily on long trips.
