  1. How wanted to use non GM DEF for the past four years. My 2015 at 98k went to the shop numerous times Finally corrected when the Cat, down pipe, injectors, etc. at the rate one one per week after checking the fuel and DEF was fixed. So I traded it in fear of having to repair it on my nickel next time. Just traveled the country and bought DEF in Utah and Indiana, 21/2 gallons for $23 and change. Using approximately 1 1/4 gal. per thousand it would be nice to use other than GM DEF GM should make all aware of the issues.
  2. Came down Pikes Peak in second gear with my foot on the accelerator when not in cruise control. Don't recall using the break. When towing a load it is a bit bothersome having to accelerate to the toll gates. Sure don't ever feel like it freewheels, hardly use the break if U pay attention to traffic flow. Love the truck but have not yet gotten comfortable with the shift points (38 & 48 mph) keeping the rpm up. Reminds me of driving the old standard 3 speed in second gear in order to improve throttle response. Miss the old floor it until u reach desired speed and then coast.
  3. What was the solution??? Presently on a road trip. Second day after having driven 700 miles day one the low coolant light came on shortly after starting out. Hit dismiss and watched the gauge for a few hundred miles. Have now gone over 3000 miles in six days. Have not seen the low coolant msg on the DIC again. Should perhaps also mention the outside temperature during the past three days has shown 100 at times each day. Yes I'd be most interested in the solution to the apparent faulty warning. On the up side the 2017 is getting 1.3 miles per gallon more than the 2015 on a very similar trip.
  4. Just changed fuel filter on the l5p. Worked as advertised. Quick and clean, took about 10 minutes. A bit longer finding the right tool to loosen the canister
  5. Have used 15w-40 Mobil Delvac !300 Super, change every 5,000 miles. Why change what works? Finding it at reduced cost has proven difficult
  6. . Guess if it stops raining I will have to change photo
  7. Picked up new truck Wednesday. Usually garage it but since it has been raining for the past two days it is outside Hope it passes the water test My. 2015 had the leak so odds are ?????
  8. Is common First sign of a leak was a tell tale streak coming from the base casket. Must have been antenna fluid!! Replaced with GM parts and have been OK the last two years. No streak so the fluids must be at the correct levels. Now if I could only get volume normalized...
  9. Should have ordered THE BOMB Looking for a 17 2500 to arrive in April. Should be in production on the 13th of March Under the hood should be a bit more congested than THE BOMB
  10. Have always used xtang covers. Last two have been xtang revolutions. They have great warranties 10 year cover lifetime frame. Have had them go 10 years outside in New England weather. Only down side was shrinkage with age made it hard to use in winter. The revolution without snaps and spring loaded tensioner have so far been great in all weather Bit pricey but worth it
  11. I have an X Tang tool up as well. Have had them last over ten years without being garaged. First one was snap on which had to be left snapped in the winter as it would shrink up and had to be heated stretch out. Present one is not Velcro just lays on the rail. Is water tight now three years and since it is spring loaded am still able to take off (roll Up) even in the winter without causing a problem. Appreciate the fact the truck bed is accessible when needed without compromise
  12. Hurray!! Went a bit over 500 miles, regen cycle took about 40 miles and idle dropped. Beginning to think it is now fixed Anybody having exhaust issues hang tough eventually it will be resolved
