  1. Any others having the problem? What's going on with the class action suite?
  2. What transmission do you have? I bet it's an 8 speed. The downshift clunk is a known problem. It comes and goes. I had mine in the shop 4 times and they said either they didn't hear anything or it's normal. The 5th time I drove with them. The tech heard it and they ended up doing a flush and valve body replacement. 100+ miles it was fine, now it's back with the addition of a 5th gear clunk too. GM knows about it, but won't do anything about it. http://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/09/lawsuit-alleges-gm-transmission-problems-known-since-2014/
  3. When you get in the car when it's cold , start it up and just start driving , do you get a clunk noise when it hits 5th gear?
  4. Let me get this straight....GM is saying this condition is normal? This document came out on October 8th 2019 right? I would assume by law they have to let you know this before you buy the truck. This is insane.. They didn't let customers know it was normal.
  5. I went through the same thing as you. Took me 5 times and kept records showing it happened every time. every time they said it's normal. The last time I drove with them and he heard it. I guess they HAVE to do something now. Well they did the valve body and fluid change. The problem was gone until around 112 miles later. Heard my first 2-1 clunk. It doesn't happen as much, but now I have a random clunk when it hits 5th gear. When it's cold it happens all the time first starting out. When the tranny warms up it's random. It will lurch forward sometimes when coming to a stop then giving a little gas, Like it doesn't know what gear it's in. As for the class action. I'll let you guys know how it goes, that's all I can say, sorry.
  6. From what I'm reading the 10 speed has a class action also. I have been seriously looking at the 2019 or 2020 Raptor. It has the 10 speed also. We'll see...
  7. after 5 times bringing to the dealer I had the Valve body replaced and flush done. I now have a 5th gear clunk when the tranny is cold and intermit when hot. So far since I got this truck. I was told not to bring it in again if it keeps happening. Alignment off driving new off the lot, took 2 times to repair. Seat shims bad. Replaced them 2 times then 3rd time replaced seat frame.Brought in for brake flash. Then had my brake pump go 2 weeks later. Sad to say, I'm not happy with this truck.
  8. I got the same letter for my 2017 Sierra. Pretty sad about the 5.7 misprint. Maybe they are hoping people don't catch on. When they bring in there 5.3's they can say " That's not part of the TSB " LOL..
  9. Well lets see...19, yes 19 TSB's on the 8 speed transmission. You decide if there is a problem. A class action suite and I own a truck that does all the symptoms in the suite. This last TSB fluid change isn't going to do anything. I just got my truck back a couple days ago (24000 MILES). They replaced the valve body and did a flush. Right now it drives ok. I am noticing when it's cold it bangs 5th gear every time until it warms up to like 100*. The problem will come back, it's a fact. Get this ...My dealer has said to me the last 4 times I brought it in they drove it and said they didn't hear anything. The 5th time a tranny guy drove with me and heard the downshift bang. I was told that it is normal for this tranny to downshift and hear a noise. Really! I was told not to bring it in again unless it gets worse. They changed the valve body on a Courtesy...A Courtesy..Huh. I can't wait to get rid of this truck. all and all I love it, but if they can't fix the tranny I'm done
  10. Just brought my 17 in for my brake booster pump failing. I asked them to check the tranny again, for the 5th time now. Every service or recall I bring it in and complain. They always come back with " Its normal, No problem, Couldn't find a problem" this time I drove with a tranny tech and he heard the 3-1 clunk. They said they want to drop the pan. If there are no shavings, they want to change the valve body. If there is they will go further. Of course there were no shavings and changed the valve body. This is the kicker.... When she told me it was ready she flat out said they are not doing another thing on this tranny unless it's a major problem. So if it still clunks , I guess it's normal...! She said if the tech drives it like 25 miles, it happens 2 times, it's not a problem. I said ok so how many times would it happen in 25000 miles? Because that's how much I have on the truck. That's a lot. I'm done with GMC.... And to make it better, the person before me on line with the same counter person complained about the SAME thing I did.

  12. Supposed to fix the shutter only. Also people who have done the last of the 14 updates the problem still came back. GM has no fix. https://www.classaction.org/gm-8-speed-transmission-defect-lawsuits
  13. Doesn't include 2014. It may be a different trans, since the 2015 doesn't have a dipstick to check. https://www.classaction.org/gm-8-speed-transmission-defect-lawsuits
