  1. Shane, While I didn't have 5100s on all four corners of my truck before I swapped over to the Boss Coilover, I did have them on the front of my 2009 Silverado for about 8 months. Like you, I was wondering what all the hoopla was about the great Billstein ride, but the results I felt were far less than admirable. I talked with Alex at Halo for quite a few months before I pulled the trigger and opted for the Boss Coilovers (which had never been available for GM trucks). Well, once I had them installed, I was amazed! Even though I was still running my Rough Country shocks on the back axle (and let me tell you, Rough Country is the truest statement for a name brand), the difference in ride quality was beyond words. When I say "beyond words" I mean that I couldn't fathom a phrase or group of thoughts that could convey the feeling I had when I took the first ride in my truck after the swap from the 5100s to the Boss Coilovers...it was like floating on a cushion of air. No longer did I feel every crack in the road, separation of concrete, or Oklahoma's washboard roads...hell, even off road and jumping curbs have a whole new meaning. I've been in the Coilovers and rear shock kit for 2 months now and will never regret the choice I made. The installation was easy and straight-forward and the results are, what most would consider, unimaginable; I have a whole new love for my truck that I have owned since 2009. If you have ANY thoughts about purchasing this kit, please refer to my review here for the Boss Coilovers as well as here for the rear shocks that complete the "Ultimate Kit". My review and utter approval of the Boss Ultimate kit was what has triggered another member to sell his 5100s before he ever installed them and go straight to the Boss Coilovers instead.
  2. Ok, I'm not going to type it all out again, but if you don't mind traveling to another site, and since I can't link pics from our site to your site, follow this link: Onlyina_Chevy Boss Rear Shock Installation and Review
  3. Could be...I don't change my own oil. For $19.95 + tax, the dealer can do it every time (plus they wash my truck).
  4. Or use the jack to compress the shock. My truck is too high to jack the frame without stacking wood to put on top of the pivot head of the floor jack...safety becomes an issue at a certain point. I used a device from what looks like the head of a gas trimmer that I found in the garage to set the rounded bottom of the shock. It fit over the pivot head perfectly; worked like a charm.
  5. FYI...I'll be 50 this year....no pressure on ya though.
  6. Mine are installed, but I will wait patiently for your review before I post anything. If you need help on the install, send me a PM and I'll tell you a trick to doing it yourself since I didn't have the strength do it either. One side took 40 minutes (due to gathering tools and creating leverage) the other side took me 10 minutes!
  7. Well...angles couldn't hurt for the rest of the curious folks.
  8. The other day I was to meet a friend of mine at the window store but missed the entrance. I'm no stranger to hopping curbs, I just usually hate the thud that you get when coming off the other side. This curb was essentially a 5" separator from one parking lot to another so it is an abrupt up and right back down...just like pulling over a parking block. I'm not gonna lie, it was as easy as going over a speed bump. No sharp thud, no hitting my head on the steering wheel or feeling like I just pulled my back out. It was a very smooth transition....I was hugely impressed. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the rear end with the "rough" country 2.0s that I am currently running....I felt that! But THAT problem will be remedied soon enough!
  9. I'll take a pic tomorrow morning of my angles for ya if that's what you need. I have both the spacers on mine for a total of 3" to clear my 35s along with the 3" BL.
  10. It's all good. I would say that all the big name brands have the same setup as far as side window choices and you really couldn't go wrong with LEER, ARE, JUSTIN, Century or ATC. I wouldn't pay the price brand new with all the used ones out there. Just wait your turn to find the one that suits your needs and/or budget.
  11. For all those keeping score, this is a LEER. You can tell from the LEER patches on the rear side corners. I don't know the model, maybe xl or xr, but it ran me $400. It has no options to speak of. Also, mine is slid back on my truck because it is made to fit a crew cab. At times, and not many, you just get what best suits your needs or desires. My desire was to have a shell on my truck and since I had been looking for about a year for a used one and this one popped up, I bought what I could get. It isn't seated correctly and leaks, but it only has my bike and some other stuff for camping that sets on top of wood and waterproof material. No fold-down front window (which I wanted) but if I really was anal about the space between the cap and cab, I would have slid it backward already. Since I can't see through due to the darkness of the windows, I really don't know how dirty the windows are, but that cap has been on there for 3 years....I'm guessing pretty damn dirty. The only thing that I have done was put more tint on the windows to make it black. The shell itself had 20% or so jpre-tinted on it...I had 5% slapped over that.
  12. I purchased mine off Craigslist...color and price were right. Had to drive 750 miles for it, but even with the gas, it was still less than the ones I found close to me that would have had to be painted to match.
