  1. How are the terraincontact's doing? Thinking about going that direction as well.
  2. It's like you read my mind! That's my current plan unless someone shares a miracle success story. haha I appreciate the reply.
  3. Less than 20,000 miles on my 2017 truck and only 1 of the tires is almost completely worn on the inside of the tread. Mostly city driving conditions with no obvious sign of alignment issues. Do I have any chance on getting it replaced under warranty through the dealer or the manufacturer? Continental CrossContact.
  4. I recently had some exhaust installed and I've noticed that turning on haul/tow mode really makes the sound even more enjoyable. Loud growling downshifts, higher shift points and it almost sounds like I'm driving a manual transmission. Anyone else driving their truck like this and other than lower gas mileage does anyone have any downsides to driving this way?
  5. I hope they fix it for you. Your story sounds exactly like mine. I bought my 2017 Sierra brand new, brought it in within the first 4000 miles because of the chuggle/fishbite/whatever that would happen fairly consistently. I took the tech for a drive but never could re-create it. I showed them the older service bulletin that had been released about flashing the transmission cpu or something but they could never re-create it. This was almost 2 years ago now and I'm currently at 15,000 miles. I recently saw the new service bulletin (Jan. 2018 #PIP5504A) that has all the detailed ways for the tech to test for the issue so I'll probably bring the truck back in soon to give them another chance to fix it. I hope you have a good follow-up so I can feel good about this next round. Good luck and thanks for posting!
  6. I finally went with a Magnaflow muffler after many hours of watching youtube reviews (while wearing headphones), researching forums and reading as many customers reviews as I could find. It's a tail chasing activity because in reality you won't know if you like something unless you hear it for yourself in-person. I had the Corsa sport system in my shopping cart for a few days but spending a $1,000+ wasn't something I wanted to do. I decided to go to the local shop and see what he thought I should do based on all the information I had gathered. He suggested a Flowmaster but I was really leaning more towards to the deeper tone of the Magnaflow. He asked if I wanted to go with the 18" and I decided to go with the 14" with a single out with the resonator also being removed. Grand total with install and black exhaust tip was $375 which seems more than fair. For that price I could redo the exhaust 2 more times and be at the price of the Corsa but I will always wonder if I should have just done the Corsa instead. I ended up using the extra money I didn't spend on the Corsa to get a paint correct/ceramic pro 2 year done on my beautiful blue 2017 GMC elevation so it all worked out. The Review: It sounds very good. At times it sounds amazing and other times it sounds not so great. Cold start is much louder than I expected but not raspy so it doesn't hurt the ears. At idle you don't hear anything and sitting at a stop light is nice for you and everyone around you. Basic acceleration sounds very good but around the 1600-2100 RPM range (right around the shift points) I get a bit of drone. I never knew what "drone" really meant until now. It's not something I hate but I do find myself trying to avoid that RPM range if people are in the truck because it makes it sounds cheap/stupid/annoying? When you do a wide open throttle or even just a good/hard acceleration it sounds amazing. I'd probably argue though that ANY muffler at wide open/hard acceleration would sound awesome in these trucks. The worst part of getting exhaust put on is I'm now more aware of EVERYTHING that is going on with the engine/transmission. V4 helicopter at certain RPM's is brutal. I could turn up the volume of my music but I didn't expect it to be so radically different than V8 mode. I'm aware of ALL the ways to disable V4 mode, I'm just describing what my experience has been. I also notice now how much the transmission is all over the place with gear shifting which never bothered me before when you couldn't hear all of the shift points. Lastly I thought I was perfectly happy with just a single out exhaust with the pipe exiting the same as the stock exit. Hearing a mean sounding exhaust only coming from one side is something I did NOT expect to bother me and I'm hoping I'll just get used to it. Worst case scenario I could probably spend another $200 with the same shop to swap out the muffler and get dual exit exhaust but it's something you might consider. Overall it has made the truck much more fun to drive. FUN to drive. The truck was already amazingly quiet, smooth (other than my fishbiting/transmission issues) but the exhaust really made it more fun to run around in. I took it on a adventurous back-roads drive over the weekend and I had a grin on my face the entire time. Obviously I'd love to get some video/sound for you folks but I promise you're better off just doing SOMETHING instead of doing hours and hours of research and not making a decision. Make a decision, get it done, move forward and redo it if you don't like how it turns out. 7. Thanks for this info. I've had the Corsa Sport sitting in my shopping cart for a few days and just can't quite get over a) the price and b) how loud the cold start seems to be. I have a great local muffler shop and I think my next step is to go see what direction they'll push me in. I'm sure they've done hundreds of these trucks and maybe they'll have a <$500 solution that I would be happy with.
  8. I've been running in the same circles as everyone else and the Corsa Sport seems to be the right choice. Please let us know how it works out. My main concern is the system being too loud where I feel like I'm driving a muscle car all of the time. If you plan on installing it yourself let us know what problems you run into (if any!) Good luck!
  9. I've watched lots of videos and read many forums but still can't decide which way to go. I drive mostly in the city. Only 12,000 miles in 2 years. The Range AFM disable seems like the way to go but the "battery drain" rumor makes me worried since the truck can sit for a few days at a time. Worst case scenario would be going on a work trip or vacation for 7 days and then having a dead battery upon return. I'm not even sure they ship to CA from what their website says. I have no plans on changing the stock tires or have any reason to buy a tuner but this seems like the other option for disabling the AFM without the power drain concern. Thoughts/Experiences? thanks!
  10. I too wanted a low profile cover because they look great! I couldn't pull the trigger on almost a $1000 cover so in a pinch I purchased the soft tri-fold from American Tonneau for $250. I needed something for a road trip, decided to try it and figured I could always just return it if I didn't like how it looked. I ended up loving the way it looked because it unintentionally matched well with my blue sierra with black wheels. I loved the fact that it was quick to put on, quick to take off and could be used in the folded position. I just leave it off and in the garage most of the time but I just needed it this past week and it kept everything dry and safe! Sorry for the info you didn't request but I thought I'd pass on my experience. https://www.amazon.com/American-Tonneau-Company-66110-Tri-fold/dp/B0182T1ZC2/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=american+tonneau+cover&qid=1547856113&sr=8-1
  11. It's amazing how easy it is to reproduce this problem but there's still no fix for it. I mostly drive in flat areas so I'll rarely notice the fish biting but this past weekend I was driving through the hills/mountains of northern California. I had issues with slight accelerating on almost every incline where the truck would chuggle/fish bite and just skip heartbeats. No down shifting or overdrive... just plain old minor acceleration.
  12. Went with the simple/cheap Ionic boards as well and enjoyed installing them myself. 2 of the 4 plastic parts of the steps started coming up out of the mounting holes after some warm weather but some good glue would probably solve that issue. Just been too lazy to try it! I went with the DualLiner bed liner option. I didn't really want to get into the line-x world just yet but did want something to protect the inner walls of the sides of the bed. I'm semi-happy with the DualLiner but the end rail cap section is not flush and clearly doesn't fit properly as well as the tailgate cover seems to warp in the hot sun. Some extra drilling is... may be required in order for the tailgate cover to be properly installed. I've thought about getting a bed cover/rollup style cover but I'll probably have to cut into that rail cap in order make it properly seat. Thanks for giving me a chance to vent my frustrations! (After posting this I realized you didn't ask about non-spray bed liners. Please excuse the unnecessary level of information.)
  13. Today I got an email from GMC about my 1 year anniversary from when I bought a brand new (first ever new car) beautiful blue 2017 GMC Sierra Elevation - Double Cab 5.3L - 6 speed truck. Paid around $29k with taxes/fees included because I was at the right place at the right time. I figured it was a good time to review how the year has been but be warned I have only racked up 5000 miles on the truck because I'm fortunate enough to work locally near my home, randomly drive my 69' C20 during the week and my wife's Honda Accord for most long trips. Thank you to everyone on this forum for posting your issues, praises, frustrations and modifications. It's a great forum to come and read up on all sorts of subjects especially at a time when getting answers from local dealers can be frustrating and time consuming. Like most people I can't just go spend a couple of hours at a dealer only to possibly leave very frustrated and defeated. Below are some random thoughts... In the beginning I had issues with the "chuggle/misfire" and only because of this forum was I able to get some resolve from the dealer. It was a difficult problem to "reproduce" with a mechanic in the passengers seat but knowing other people had dealt with the same issue gave me confidence to force the dealer to do "something" about it. Gas mileage is good but not great when mostly doing in-town (averaging 16MPG) driving. If gas prices go up to $5+ I might consider moving onto something smaller. My previous vehicle was a 2000 Tahoe and I still haven't quite gotten used to the larger truck when it comes to parking/moving around tight spots but it gets better as time passes. I'm wondering if the rear backup camera is actually a bad thing because you don't learn to know your limits! I feel a bit more comfortable with the cheaper "base" model of the Sierra with less technology and things that could go wrong after all of the stories I've read on here. My 1 year review of the GMC is "awesome." I love the truck. I love looking at it, I love driving it but I'm fortunate that I've avoided any major issues so far. I've put 6 people in that truck comfortably with no issues. I've driven it to far off places in complete comfort and confidence. I've taken it camping with 6 fully packed coolers, gear, and 3 adult men with no issues. Not having 4 wheel drive will probably always bother me but the locking rear differential makes me feel like I might have a chance of getting out of mud pit (the one time a year I might be in one!) I certainly see "surface rust" randomly all over the underside truck and I don't drive anywhere near snow which is bit concerning. I've added rear seat storage from Husky, rear wheel well liners from Husky, side step bars from Ionic, a DeeZee tailgate helper and a full bedliner from DualLiner. All "do-it-yourself" at home stuff which was awesome. Getting those items installed/purchased from the dealer would have been around $2000+! Sorry for the rambling thoughts but I think that about covers it. Cheers, Nor Cal Dude
