  1. Thanks ! I was going to put the switches in there too but am putting mine in the overhead since I have the room .
  2. How much of benefit a catch can provides is evident every time I change the oil . Will it help longevity ? Time will tell . I'd much rather separate and drain the contaminants than let them coat the intake system .
  3. I'm in the process of adding one since there's some tight spots at the local parking lots and I've got a bull bar . I'm using one of the 'kits' that are about $50 for the screen , camera , and harness . I took a piece of kydex plastic and made a mount for the screen (heat the plastic with heat gun and shape it) , then mounted it in that compartment that I never seem to use .
  4. Agreed . I've got the stock 18" wheels and actually like the more rubber route as well . Sure can't hurt ride either .
  5. This is how the Undercover Elite LX turned out . A little heavy on the coin but worth it . They're running a $100 rebate on it right now . Sorry the pic isn't great .
  6. That sounds like sumpn I would do . I'll have to wait until we buy the house as this condo we have now isn't secure and the stuffy HOA would frown at me again . They already gave me s*** about working on other vehicles , and it was in the carport where nobody could see me . Condo Commandos ..
  7. Interesting .I could leave the OBD bluetooth dongle plugged in and tucked away under the dash with that .. cool .
  8. You're right , it doesn't get it the way , however it does come on at times when I don't want it to . Constant cycling on and off during mountain driving gets annoying , no matter how seamless others may find it . I don't feel as if I have to ride around in M5 all the time to get rid of it . The grade braking feature shouldn't reset during an ignition cycle either . It should be my choice . Say you're in a boat or aircraft , and you're coming through a bad inlet or takeoff or landing , and some feature kicks in changing applicable power in some way at a time you don't want it . Wouldn't you want the option of disabling that feature ? I know I would .
  9. I'm a bit conflicted about AFM . It is very dependent upon your driving style and load whether it is active . I drive the truck normally 95% of the time , but from time to time like to open the throttle and feel that V8 pull . On the highway trips , I don't mind the V4 activation as long as it isn't causing undue wear on the components and that it is actually saving gas . I'm trying to be confident with the evolution of these engines over the last several years that they've eliminated most issues , but the ticking I get at cold idle (post in another thread) has me cautious . I live in the mountains of W NC and have driven many of the roads here which is fun , but I don't care for the AFM coming on during those times . I thought about one of the AFM disabler , but if I'm going to apply the money towards one , why not apply that to a tuner so I can approach the transmission constantly trying to find the right gear or lugging as well ? What I'd like is to have economy when I want it . I just wish GM had given us the option . So hopefully a tuner will help with that once warranty is out . It's hard not pulling the trigger now .
  10. 2015 Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L 21900 miles now 24K Bought as a lease return from Chevy Dealer . Love the truck , but the below concerns me greatly . Mine does it when first started and cool until it gets it's first sustained revs . Sounds like a slightly collapsed lifter , and it's not usually constant . It sort of fades in and out . I notice it when I stop into the drive thru for coffee in the morning and roll the window down . If I raise the idle , it goes away . It goes away completely after the truck's been driven for a few miles . I have changed the oil to a high quality synthetic which seems to have helped it a little . Expensive oil changes but I've worked on marine diesels for 30 years in my own business before I moved and know the value of clean oil . Right after I bought the truck I mentioned it to a salesman and he was quick to tell me it's the high pressure pump . Ummm no . That isn't the sound . I'm wondering if one of the AFM lifters isn't sticking a little in the collapsed position . Not enough to cause a misfire , but enough to cause the noise .
  11. Undercover Elite LX , painted to match . It has a great sealing arrangement , is secure , has a light and a retrieval hook (??) , Only drawbacks are it takes two people to remove / install , and it takes 3+ weeks to get it . Added the Rhinoliner spray in liner and McGard tailgate lock . The arrangement keeps my tools and camping gear safe and dry . Looks great too .
  12. Ok , so you guys just gave me even more stuff to do .. Got some lighting and dimmers on the way .
