  1. Is that where the V8/V4 squeak came from? I had a '14 that did it from day 1. I never really put any thought into what was causing it. I learned something new today. What is the purpose of the exhaust flap anyways? Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
  2. That's horrible! I'm pretty sure that's not how they fixed mine. They didn't have it long enough to get into all that. The service manager said they loosened a couple bed bolts, and shifted it over. There was obviously enough wiggle room to move it where it needed to be. I was pretty worried about it coming out right...but it's dead on now. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
  3. Not really. It's the same as turning in my lease, and buying a different used vehicle...only I know this used vehicle's history from day one. I'm not saying it's the ideal way to go about it, but sometimes a new truck isn't in the budget, and you can't play with a leased vehicle very much. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
  4. Not coming off of a lease. I wouldn't have a trade in. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
  5. Ok...so I took the truck into the dealer a couple days ago. They had it done by the next day. It looks darn near perfect! I don't know what they did underneath to adjust it...and I don't want to know. Lol. The bed is straight and even, and there's no creaks or new problems. I'm very happy with the results. Now I'm very happy with the truck. The wonky transmission is even coming around after 800 miles. Turning into a very nice truck. [emoji4] Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
  6. I'm aware that the cab is wider than the bed. I realize it's going to stick out a little beyond the bed. I don't think I'm crazy for expecting the difference to be split evenly, and not ALL sticking out of one side of a $51k truck when it rolls out of the showroom. It's horse sh*t quality control right from the factory. I'd like my brand new truck to be right until I do something to mess it up. Maybe it's more obvious because of the color, but it jumps out at you without even looking. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
  7. It's not my first choice. I'd be driving the 2500 Midnight Edition I test drove if I could swing it at the moment, but they won't lease an HD, and I can't do a car payment of over 800 bucks a month right now. Too many other expenses right now. Three years from now, I may be able to get the 3/4 ton. It would definitely be better for my camper. But on the chance I still can't do 800 a month, it would be cheaper to buy my current truck. It's like buying used, only I know the oil has been changed, and the fenders haven't been caved in on it before I bought it. I don't really want to be stuck leasing for eternity, so at some point I have to bite the bullet and buy. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
  8. I'm getting closer! Now I just have to figure out why it's saying wrong format for my pics. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk Nevermind...got it. Lol Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
  9. Yep. 36 months from 14 days ago. I was looking forward to possibly keeping it after the lease so I could play with it, but not if this is any indicator of things to come. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
  10. I'm going to see what the body shop has to say on Wednesday. I'm not going to let them start mutilating the truck to "fix" something that should have never left the factory like that. Anything beyond a simple adjustment, and somebody higher up at the dealership than the salesperson and I are going to have a "friendly" conversation about a different truck. I'll go from there if need be. I took some very good pics from different angles today that shows it pretty clear, but I can't get them to compress on my phone and they're all too big to upload here.
  11. Honestly, if I had bought it well used I'd just chalk it up to it being a used vehicle. It doesn't seem to be anything mechanical. The truck runs straight down the road fine. It seems to be strictly cosmetic, but that is really bothering me for a few reasons. The '14 I turned in was straight as an arrow, first of all, so I had no idea to even check for bed alignment. Second, I test drove another truck exactly like mine the morning before I got this truck. It had a minor manufacturing flaw in one of the plastic bed rails. Other than that it seemed perfect. When I asked to have that fixed before I signed the papers, they swapped me into this truck. It was the exact same truck, and had 75 less miles on it. I figured it was an alright deal for me. Now I'm not so sure they didn't pull the bate and switch on me. I never thought to look at bed alignment when I was checking it over. I figured that was a given from the factory. Stupid me. I noticed a couple days later in my driveway. Now I see it everytime I look at the truck.
  12. I've had (allegedly) three Silverados with 5.3 AFM engines. I say allegedly because my '08 had AFM listed on the window sticker, but that's as close as I ever came to it. I don't believe the AFM ever kicked in on that truck in the three years that I had it, and I averaged about 13.5 mpg all the time with it. My '14 had the newer 5.3, which is a whole different animal than the engine in my '08. I just turned it in with 30k miles on it, and AFM never caused me a single issue. It did, however, help me average roughly 16 mpg running the same route everyday that I did in my '08. I'm not going to argue with 2.5-3 mpg more. The 4/8 cylinder transition was smooth in that truck, and I was the only one who could pick up on a very quiet chirp that it would make going back into 8 cylinder mode...and only if it was quiet in the truck. My new '17 has the exact same setup. The transitions seem even smoother, and the AFM seems to activate even easier in this truck. I'm already averaging about a half mpg more in the new truck under identical conditions, and it only has 650 miles on it. No tiny chirp in this one, either. I've never used a drop of oil in any of my trucks, or had any AFM related issues. Go for it, and warranty the crap out of it if you would happen to get a bad one.
  13. Boardmember, did you ever get it straight, or did you just live with it?
  14. Thank you for the tip! I'm doing it from my phone. I didn't realize it had to be a desktop.
  15. I understand where you're coming from, but it's going to have to be such a large adjustment, I have concerns about it causing other problems, like squeaks, rattles, etc... I'm just curious if anyone else has had a bed and cab out of alignment by a half inch or more, and what they did to correct it. I strongly suggested a new truck to the salesperson after I noticed the problem, and as expected, got the run around. I may approach the manager next, or have an attorney do it for me. I just didn't know if this was an issue anyone else has dealt with. I can't imagine this only happened with one truck.
