You're 100% right. The Bose sound system is fine, but compared to the 17-speaker Harmon Kardon in the Ram it's night and day. Really disappointing by comparison.

I think Z71 has recently been the "slightly tougher than the non-Z71" version. They add skid plates, a different grill insert and/or bumper, some badging, and slightly stiffer shocks or something. It's not *really* going to compete offroad with things like a Jeep or a Bronco. But it's a 3-ton 18 foot long SUV. It's not a rock crawler. Even the Z71 version is basically just telling people "Look, if you go camping, this can probably go through a dirt road that's got some mud and/or holes in it, provided they're not too bad."

They didn't "forget" They chose to not offer them as another way to make GMC products seem slightly higher-end than the Chevrolet products. I don't agree with the decision at all, but this isn't like somebody is at HQ going "Oh crap, we forgot foglights!"

Was it available in 2019 MY when the refresh happened?

I really hope they start offering that 6.2L in the other trim lines in 21/22/23 model years.

Right? I bought my wife's 2010 Suburban LT 2wd in 2013, it had 40k miles on it and I got it for $30k. At the time the sticker would have been almost $60k new. Now it's got 160k miles on it and is beat to ****** (tons of little kids spilling juice boxes and whatnot) but all the kids are old enough not to spill anymore so we're looking at replacing it soon. Hard to justify $70k for a 2021 when a 2019 with 40k miles can still be had for $35k or so.

I'm a big fan of lighter colored leather interiors because the sun out here in CA makes black interiors super hot in the summer. My favorite color combo has always been a cherry red or deep metallic blue with light tan or camel colored interior. I hope they'll offer something like that soon.

Looks great. Out here the dealer down the road said some guy paid $15k over asking for the first one on the lot. He also has a book of reservations like 50 names deep to call when they arrive. I really like the Yukon over the Tahoe/Suburban this time around, but they're both big improvements over the last gen.

Personally my wife has been chewing my ear off about getting one with heated seats, but that 2010 LT 2wd she's driving has 160k miles and is still going strong. Some cosmetic issues (we've got 3 kids all under 10 haha) so it's probably not worth much on a trade-in or even resale, we'd be lucky to get $10k for it, more likely $7-8k or a $5k trade-in. My 2014 High Country is great (and like you said - I've seen no real reason to upgrade to a 2020 or newer Silverado as the improvements were incremental) but I would like to have our big family vehicle be the nice one, so to speak.

Totally. But I can't imagine anybody taking a huge depreciation on a 1 year old $60K+ car for any feature unless they really hated their existing one. Normally at this time I'd be looking for insane deals on a 2020 Suburban they were trying to clear off the lot to make room for the 2021s since the changes weren't drastic and certainly aren't worth an extra $10k+ but with the low inventory they're still keeping their cards close to the vest, so to speak.

I see where you're coming from, but to me the fact that they went IRS and offer the Diesel engine and the 6.2L on more trim lines is pretty nice. The interior space is a big improvement as well, and I don't see "pointless stuff" added to the interior really on the 2021 models personally. The Escalade definitely looks nice. That 38" screen dash is sweet. I think the interior of the Denali is almost as nice and looks really great, especially in the tan color

I mean, underneath they all share the same frame, drivetrain, engines, etc? So why is the Escalade next-gen while the Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban not? Are you referring strictly to the interior?
