  1. Sure: I’m the second owner and I bought it as a CPO from a GMC dealer in 12/13. I use it for my construction business towing a dump or flatbed trailer twice a month on average. I use only Mobil 1 5W30 and change it every 7500 on average. The top end looked good when the shop got the head off.
  2. No, not really. It also came down to time, which I don’t have much of these days. I would have seriously considered keeping it for another year or two if repair/replacement was le$$.
  3. Thanks guys. I’ve got a guy interested in buying it as is. I’ve enjoyed the truck and it was trouble free until the end. But I’ve also depreciated it completely in my business so it’s time to look for a newer truck.
  4. My ‘11 Sierra Denali dropped a lifter last week, and the news today was not good. The lifter wiped out the cam and scored the lifter bore badly. No big warnings ahead of time, just like a major heart attack. The independent shop owner (whom I’ve known and trusted for years) told me to sit down first before he gave me a couple of options; used 6.2 with approx 100k miles installed for about $5400 or a new crate motor for $7800. Okay, I’ll admit that 6.2s are more rare than 5.3s, but really? The truck has 160,000 rust-free (Florida) and accident free miles. I use it for business and need to do something soon. Just put 4 new tires on it 2 months ago and it has been an exceptional truck. So, do I bite the bullet and spend a lot of money on it now knowing that I’ll have to drive it another 2-3 years? Look around for a better repair deal, maybe even a 5.3? Or take the big hit, selling it for less than half of normal value and buy a newer (GM) truck?
