My Fix On My Silverado Electrical Problem
4wd replied to BloodRedSilverado's topic in 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500
The cable from the battery ground is spliced and runs to both the alt and the frame. The frame cable is actually alot smaller than the ground running to the alt... So i ran 4 gauge to both places. Not reallly sure if it is a big problem but most of the trucks electrical devices is grounded to the frame. And because of that I wanted to have a larger ground in that area. Great!, do you know if the replacement OEM cable is the same gauge number all they way or better in anway... -

4l60e Transmission Longevity Good News I Hope
4wd replied to ken1mod's topic in 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500
I have heard almost no complain about transmission from owners of gmt800, also I have read people advising to try get gmt900 with 4speed!! But what about GMT900 07-08 4L60E? you will say it is the same tranny but doubt it's same quality ... and those of us who plan to keep it for a long time, what is the best upgrade mode? 4l65 or what? -
Yup! That's the only fix...

Mine is 08 5.3 but I confirmed the dipstick is wrong, the dealer checked with GM and the answer as long as you fill the right amount, don't worry about the dipstick, it reads about half inch or more above the max mark, I checked new trucks in dealership show room and the oil was reading the same as mine!.. I noticed in 2009 or 2010, not sure, the dipstick is relocated!!! If you want to be sure, drain the oil completely and fill the right amount as per the book and see how it reads, only then you will know...But I agree that you need to talk to dealer to document it and may be they will have an answer for you.. If the dipstick is not right as mine you will have to keep oil! to get the right reading... Also the service manager told me that oil pressure is regulated in these engines, meaning the pump will only feed the right amount to the the engine.. I hope that helps...

I have a heated leather seat stock, is there a way to cool it without a complete replacement?
