  1. If the air temp is -25°F and your block heater keeps the engine oil warmed to +30°-40°F it's doing the job it's designed for. It's not designed to have your engine warmed up for you, but to make it easier to start.
  2. Whatever gotech4...crawl back under your rock up there eh!
  3. The corvette servo provides more apply pressure to the 1-2 and 2-3 bands. For $15 it's worth a shot to put one in and try. It might prolong the life and save you from a rebuild for a little while. In spite of govtech4's opinion, the corvette servo is a very nice mod to any 4L60 or 700R transmission.
  4. I had this message on my 2008. Turned out to be an impact sensor (common failure). I ordered two from Rock Auto, changed both in about 15 minutes, and no more service air bag message!
  5. No, the settings on the Bilstein 5100 series front shocks for the '07 and up NNBS actually are to lift the truck. Max advertised lift is 1.77".
  6. NAPA Gold filters, which are made by WIX are about the best for the money.
  7. I had a '99 with 3 doors, always wished it had the 4th door.I have a 4 door 2008 extended cab now. I like the suicide door configuration, helps if you want to get something large in the back seat area. And the NNBS doors open all the way flat.
  8. So called "leveling keys" won't improve anything over stock keys! This is a myth and needs to be squashed! The torsion keys are like a hex wrench with limited travel. The end of the torsion bar is hex shaped. The so called "leveling keys" just have the hex oriented differently, which allows you to over crank your torsion bar. This over cranking actually makes the ride worse and totally screws your suspension travel and results in bad CV and ball joint angles. Your best results are to use your stock keys to get the truck level. Don't try to lift the front more that 2"-2.5" with any torsion key. If you want more than 2.5" of lift, get a proper lift kit, with knuckles and provisions for relocating the torsion bars.
  9. The common practice is 285s. I have Cooper AT/3s in LT285-70-17 on my 2" level and according to Cooper those are 32.83".
  10. The light sensor on the dash also serves as the HVAC sunlight sensor. Also unplugging it will make it think it's night and keep the headlights on. It's designed to default to headlights on if the sensor fails.
  11. According to Bilstein, maximum lift for the 5100's is 1.7". And you can only adjust them by taking the strut apart.
  12. Check out the Airaid MIT. The truck already has a CAI, you just need the tube and a lower restriction filter to get the same benefits as a $300 CAI. Any HP or MPG gains are marginal at best though. If you check the data, most CAI "performance improvements" happen at 5,000 rpm or above.
  13. Replaced mine today with AC-Delco 214-2149 purchased from Rock Auto, $21 shipped priority mail. CEL light went out first time I started it after. Simple replacement, no more topping off for me though!
  14. Why the harsh attitude? There is no right or wrong in this issue, just a difference of opinion. Instead of belittleing someone elses opinion; why don't you defend your position on how a smaller filter with less media and oil capacity is superior to a longer version of the same filter?
