How reliable is the 6.6 gasser?
vucelick replied to HyperX's topic in 6.6L Gas V8 & HD Transmission Powertrain (L8T/MYD)
#1 true #2 false, there is a completely different 1/2 ton 10 speed jointly developed with ford and gm. #3 false. They are the same. However Shift rpm is different due to differing rmp ranges between gas and diesel. -
I have been around here for a while, mostly on the 2000-2007 HD forum. I like to think my small contributions have been both accurate and worth while. Today i see a new terms of service, and a pop-up on my phone telling me i have to disable my ad blocker to view content. As much as it pains me to say this, i will likely not be visiting this forum even though a new truck is likely in my near future and i rely on this forum to keep up to date on the state of the new HD trucks.

Leveling a 2020 Sierra 1500 Elevation
vucelick replied to Roxbury5's topic in 2020-2024 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
As others have said, you will have better luck in the 1/2 ton forum. If you raise the front, you will slightly lower the rear bumper height as the pivot point is the rear axle/tire centerline. (Just imagine if you hooked a crane to the front end and lifted the front of the truck, eventually the rear bumper would be almost touching the ground) -
My dream truck, what is yours?
vucelick replied to Jettech1's topic in 2020-2024 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
Ideally, i would be living full-time in the 5th wheel, and have a nice single rear wheel and its inherent ease of manuverability in running around in whatever unfamiliar place i was visiting, when the weather is not motorcycle friendly. -

I have don similar mods to past vehicles, 14 bolts, dana 60, 70, and 80 axles. My real wish would be a single rear wheel factory truck with the load capability to tow a modern tripple axle 5th wheel toy hauler. I know duallys have benefits, but i would love to not have the duallys shortcomings when i am NOT towing. -

A single rear wheel that hauls as much as a dual rear wheel.... -
I read the 2025 HD model year production will be in 1st quarter of 2024, anyone have any more accurate info?

Lifters get weak? There is nothing to wear out. They are hydraulic roller lifters, oil pressure keeps the piston cup inside the lifter pumped up. There could be debris or an oil restriction keeping them from fully pressurizing, but that kind of contamination would show in your oil. If a roller goes, it can ruin the cam, but it will put alot of metal into the oil, and will make a racket. And the truck will run poorly.
-
I still say you have either a broken or loose stud or a cracked exhaust manifold. If you dont have dark oil with some sparkles in it, your lifters are not coming apart, or wiping the cam. If you loose a roller lifter the carnage is immediate. A wiped cam lobe sound never goes away, and they run bad.
