  1. Once upon a time (15 years or so ago-I've been a member here forever), Black Cadillac in Pennsylvania had the reputation on this forum as the best place to purchase a GM Protection Plan.   3. Samsung S22 and I also have this problem. I've noticed as many others that if I put the phone in top in the down position I have better luck. Also if I turn it slightly cattycornered on the pad it almost always charges. Small annoyance, but I susupect a lot of it depends on the phone and any particular case on the phone.
  4. Great point! I believe before I would go used on this purchase that I would at least have a dealer pull up the service history on the VIN and see if there was anything that stood out. Personally I'd opt for the Chevy, but overall I typically lean towards the bowtie.
  5. Yes same here. Alert on phone @ 4:45 AM. Truck parked in the garage and the Chevy App is showing four flat tires. All were at 38 psi. Just did the update day before yesterday, so more electronic glitches.
  6. Lots of leasing experience here both with GM trucks and my wife's cars as well. We take extremely good care of our vehicles and there's a first time for everything, BUT I haven't done a lease turn in since 2001. It seems that at the end of our lease that our vehicles always have equity over the lease buyout price and therefore we trade them in and use the equity on the next one. If you trade the lease, it won't matter what mods have been done. It's just like trading in any other vehicle. The one downside is if and when the trade in value is below the lease end purchase price you would have to turn it in or eat the negative equity. So far, knock on wood, I've never had that happen. The best example for us was during covid and the craziness of the used car market in 2021 when my wife sold her 2020 leased car 19 months into the lease for $5400 more than the payoff. She pocketed the equity and leased a new 2022 model of the same car. I highly doubt that the market of 2021 will exist in the future, but even if you have $500 equity, trade that sucker in at the end of the lease if you want a new vehicle.
  7. Sorry to revive this few week old thread, but got some personal experience to share. I've driven GM trucks since 1999 with multiple Silverados and one Sierra. For whatever reason, every truck since a 2001 Silverado (6 trucks total) have been built in Silao. In June of this year I purchased a 2023 RST that was built in Roanoke, Indiana. I was sort of excited to have an American built Chevy truck. This is the part I hate to say....new truck has had two body fitment issues in its first month. I never had anything similar on any Mexican built truck. Passenger front door was way out of adjustment. (I had my local body guy fix that) and the hood latch was approx 1/4 inch too low to where it had to be slammed to close; I fixed this one myself. Also the truck pulled to the right on straight level pavement. Local dealer did an alighment where it was way out of spec from the factory. By the way it was a Wednesday truck so nowhere near the weekend. All in all these are small and correctable (and they've been corrected) issues and I really like the new 2023, but I can honestly say that I've had fewer "out of the box" issues with Mexican built GM trucks.

  10. When and if this happens outside of warranty a light replacement isn't a simple and cheap fix anymore. On my 19 I had a small fender bender that resulted in the passenger's side headlight housing being cracked down near the parklight/turn signal (those were not led on the 19's) However the entire unit that contained the headlight, drl and park light had to be replaced to the tune of abour $1300. Gone are the days when you could go down to the junkyard and find a replacement for chump change. BTW I haven't posted this yet, but I traded my Silverado in May and went to the dark side for the first time in 20+ years. Now driving a new F150. I bought Ford's extended warranty and paid an extra $100 for full light coverage, just because of my experience replacing the LED on my Chevy. Stuff "ain't" cheap no more.....
  11. I used to pre fill the filter, but then I started doing clear flood mode so the engine would not start until oil pressure came up.
  12. +1 I never purchased with James Black, but I did price with them and they were initially much cheaper than my purchasing dealer. I took the price to the local dealer and they matched. But I've never read anything but positives on James Black. I would suggest sticking with the GM Warranty. Too many third companies are known for their shady buisiness practices. You can buy as long as your vehicle is under the original 3/36 warranty, but I believe it is less expensive if you buy at lower mileages.
  13. To give you an idea of, in my opinion, how overpriced Onstar is, compare it to Subaru's Starlink. Wife has a 2020 Subaru Legacy and three years of Starlink is $74. GM's monthly pricing is 1/2 of that. I can't see much difference in functionality between the two and there's no way I'm paying GM prices. Starlink overview
  14. +1 to this^^^^ If you have a reasonably modern Android, a verbal "OK Google" will get you almost anything you want without having to touch any button on the truck. I've almost quit using the GM interface as well. Waze integration in my opinion has made factory navigation a big no go, especially for the money.
  15. Well GM has limited the financial windfall for lease customers looking outside GM. Now GM Financial will only provide a payoff on leases to the customer or a GM dealer. You can buy out the lease and then sell, but you would have to pay tax. No selling to Carvana, Vroom, or another francised dealer or independent. https://youtu.be/sTokIf7yvzw
