  1. They are not covered by the 100K mile powertrain warranty. If you purchased an extended warranty, they may be covered, it just depends on which one you purchased.
  2. I wouldn't even mess with it. Our truck door actuator is part of the lock mechanism/latch. I bought a set of these for another vehicle (bro in laws ford sport trac). When my actuator started messing up again, I looked into getting these in there, but it would most likely break something, and cause a bigger mess. Get yourself the newest part number for the door actuators, and get them replaced (about $65 per side). Here is a link to the universal lock actuators: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY-FORD-...#ht_4113wt_1198
  3. YES! The door actuator is part of the latch assembly. Same thing happened to my wife on the passengers side door. Once replaced, all is working perfectly. Very easy job to do yourself. Definitely not worth taking it to the dealer if you are out of warranty. Al
  4. Can anybody get me the part #'s for an 09+ Silverado Crew cab. I have an 08, but I they came with bad actuators, and even the replacements are coming out bad. I haven't seen many/any 09+ door actuator failures, so I'm thinking that is the safest way to go. Anybody see a problem with my idea regarding fitment?
  5. Well, after another 30,000 miles, the door lock actuator they put in as a replacement has started to go out. The lock sometimes doesn't unlock, and it is doing the same thing it did before. I am thinking that I might have to find a way to replace the GM actuator with a cheaper universal actuator. I don't feel like messing with this every 30K miles. Anybody know of a write up for replacing these actuators? It would be great to see the inside of the door to see if a aftermarket actuator could fit. Al
  6. The malfunction seems to be intermittent. Mine would do the same thing at first, then they finally quit. I have a Viper alarm installed, and they programmed to open all doors each time. I'm going to leave it like that and see what happens with the actuators. If they do not fail, there may be a link between lack of use, and failure rate. Just a thought, and I know that correlation does not mean causation, but this is a good observation to have.
  7. Ryan, Using the DIC, you can change the setting so that only the drivers side opens with one click and then all doors unlock with two clicks. Al
  8. OK, this sucks. This seems to be a common problem. I'm going to sell this stupid truck before it goes to shit. I bet the AFM is to blame for this! Just Joking This will probably be an inconvenience until GM gets it right , or we replace the actuators with aftermarket units. The new set is working wells so far (crossing my fingers).
  9. I got both front actuators replaced at the dealer. They said that they've had their share of problems actuators in the new body style trucks. I talked to the manager about getting the seats covers replaced, and they are going to get approval from their regional manager to get some leather seats put in for me. I'm going to provide the leather material. I hope the regional manager isn't a jerk about it.
  10. We'll I took my truck in a 8 am, and they said they would call me when it was done. 6 pm came, and no call. I called them up, and they where gone for the day. It's not really a big deal, since I am off work, but it would have been nice if they had called me and asked if they could keep it overnight. I am going to be very upset if they tell me they didn't replace the actuators or some other lame story. I hope they at least have the parts in stock, and I don't have to wait for them to get ordered. Yeah. I did a search using google and advanced search of gm-trucks,and I found a lot more people with problems with the actuators for the NBS trucks on this site. Apparently, it is common for all four actuators to go bad. So far, I only asked them to replace the front two door lock actuators. I'll keep you guys posted.
  11. I have an appointment this morning. I'll let you guys know what happens. Mine started working, so the dealer might be a jerk and not replace it. Hopefully they don't give me a hard time about it.
  12. Well, I read some posts about several people having problems with their power door lock actuator. I though I'd start a thread to keep an eye on this. My truck is a 2008 Silverado Crew Cab. It currently has 34,000 miles on it. The Passengers side door actuator stopped working yesterday. I'm headed to the dealer on Wed. to get it looked at, and hopefully replaced. Feel free if you have had any problems related to the door lock actuator. Thanks! Al
  13. Kingsville, TX. here! (near Corpus Christi). Texas is a big ass state, and getting together not a small task at all! Good Luck! -Al
