Spark plug wires coming off while driving?
2doorpost replied to primpickins's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
Just went through this on my 2015 Silverado at 5300 miles. Loose connection at the coil pack. Truck stalled out 4 times and finally went in to limp mode. Blinking check engine light drove 1/4 mile to home.........Flatbed into dealer for the fix Same thing on my 2014 Silverado at 2300 miles. Loose wire at the spark plug. Threw a steady check engine light. Drove to dealer 50 miles. -
I bought a '15 Silverado that was identically equipped to the Sierra that I road tested and walked away from . No shudder on the Silverado. If it starts doing it, I'll disable the AFM.

My '14 Camaro did that. Turned the car off and restarted it. Fixed. Same thing with drivers power window. Wouldn't move. Shut the car off and restart and it was fine. Weird stuff.

Shake or Vibration Issues
2doorpost replied to Silver space ship's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
So, just for shits and giggles, I look up how many used Double (extended) cab or Crew cab 2014-2015 trucks are on the market on Cars.Com . All major brands. (I weeded out the Regular cabs, since Uhaul and other Fleet buyers blow through a big load of 1/2 ton Regular cabs every year.) 9100 Chevy trucks of various trim levels- either double cab or crew cab (2014-2015) 3700 GMCs either double cab or crew cab (2014-2015) So that makes 12,800 used Crew or Double cab GM trucks sitting there used because the owner either traded in, lease was done, or whatever...... 2014-2015 Super cab or Crew cab Ford F150? Approx 8300 used sitting on lots. 2014-2015 Same thing in a Ram? Approx. 8700 And same flavor in a Toyota? 2000 of them. -
Shake or Vibration Issues

When I was having problems with my Sierra with the frame coating peeling , the CARFAX listed "inspections" and "serviced" when the truck was traded in and hit the used lot. Some other poor sap ended up with a " beautiful like new " Sierra - raining rust from underneath. If you are buying low mile used- best to ask for the dealer service report on what was actually done. -
Just road tested a new 2015 Sierra that has the V6 setup (double cab). Sure enough, at 50 mph , she started to shudder. Needless to say, the test drive ended soon after that and I came home in my old ride. You'd think these folks would get their act together already.

Frame Wax/Undercoating
2doorpost replied to eric.warner.549's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
Sad to see my rusty-framed 2011 GMC Sierra customer complaint was never really dealt with properly for this next generation of trucks. My 2014 sits on a clean set of frame rails- still . I must have gotten lucky this time around I mean, it is pretty obvious all of the dipped frames aren't prepped right. At all three frame plants. Yet, here we still are. -
2015 Silverado & Sierra to get 8-speed transmission
2doorpost replied to Zane's topic in The Newsroom Archive
The 6 speed in mine is a slushbucket of surprises. Why don't they get that one right, then worry about throwing in two more gears? -

2014 Silverado/Sierra Tips and Tricks
2doorpost replied to brentadams646's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
Not exactly technical and maybe mentioned elsewhere........when i bought my '14 1W/T last Saturday , the dealer offered a GM under the rail bedliner to me at his cost. -269.00 installed. I politely passed. Today I found out that one off of a wrecked 2010 is basically the same item, the only difference being the tailgate piece on the '14 is flat, compared to cupped behind the handle on the '10. One slightly used GM bedliner - 25 bucks. -
Crank windows here ! At least easy to reach on this truck. (power locks and cruise control) .

I'm going truck shopping in the morning. I'll let you know how many have fogged lenses in the dealer's lot. Most have been sitting their a long time. -
2014 Silverado Starting problems
2doorpost replied to SSimpson8's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
The dealer I've been talking to has two in stock, one double cab and a regular cab longbed. The longbed is an earlier build. HE shot me a great price on the double cab and really wants my trade ('13 Camaro) We'll see.
