  1. I installed a backup camera on my 2015 Silverado LT 2500HD. I bought from a very good seller on Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/str/bobsautomotivemirrorsandmore The equipment needed was supplied from a company out of North Carolina called Rostra. Customer service and support through Bobs Automotive and Rostra was excellent. The camera has worked great since I installed in in the fall of 2014. Contact Bob and tell him what you have and he will explain what you need to install a backup camera.
  2. So it started raining inside the truck on Sunday. 2015 Silverado. I removed the shark fin antenna. Cleaned up the sealing surfaces and applied pure silicone sealant. We'll see how long this works. A hole in the roof is not a very bright idea.
  3. I have about 1000 miles driven with the seat lift kit installed and I love the seating position of my truck now. Before the seat lift kit came along, I was ready to go to a junk yard and buy an electric seat to get the seating position I like. I guess many people like the low sitting position of the manual seat... but not me.
  4. Does your truck have a manual driver's seat? The comfort of the sitting position of the manual seat, on long trips, was the biggest problem for me. The large towing mirrors compounded the problem for me by creating a blind spot. I bought my truck to tow a travel trailer and need the tow mirrors. I put about 25,000 miles per year on a truck and make many long hauls pulling the trailer. I should have bought the electric seats but it's too late for that now.
  5. I am a little over 5' 10". My truck is a 2500 with towing mirrors. My past trucks have had electric seats and I have always rode with the seat raised up all the way. The tow mirrors cause too much of a blind spot with the seat positioned so low. I was getting back and hip aches on long trips that I did not get with my 2012 2500. I feel like I am sitting on the floor with the low seat position of the manual seat. The ride height and sitting position is more what I am accustomed to now. So far this appears to be a big improvement for me.
  6. I purchased a driver's seat lift kit for my 2015 2500HD from Seat-Solutions on Ebay. This is a major improvement for the seating postion of the manual driver's seat. The kit is very good quality powder coated steel and was very easy to install. I am really happy that Seat-Solutions started building a seat lift kit for the new trucks. The kit raises the seat 1 5/8" which is the same lift the electric seat provides. When I bought my truck last September I decided not to spend the money for the electric seat. I recognized that the seat sitting position was low and uncomfortable but I thought I would get accustomed to the sitting position. But I have remained very unhappy with position of the seat in my new truck. The difference in the comfort of the higher seat position is amazing. This is one of the best upgrades I have ever done to a truck. I have no affiliation with Seat-Solutions. I am just a happy customer.
  7. $525 US delivered. Contact Bob's Automotive and see if he can deliver to Canada. Or contact Rostra and ask who their distributors are in Canada. Bob's Automotive Mirrors & More LLC 7697 Forest Lawn Road Three Oaks, MI 49128-9558 219-575-9220 www.bobsmirrors.com
  8. I am installing it now. The install is much easier than I thought it would be. However, the instructions for the install of the interface module that connects to the Mylink screen are not very well done. There are more parts included in the kit than you need and there are more open wire connections than you need, but this is not clear from the directions. There is a harness in the kit for a 4.2" and the 8" Mylink screen. It will be obvious which one to use. The loose wires on the Rostra main harness are all outputs & not inputs. Nothing needs to be connected to BCM wiring of the truck. The only splice needed are from the camera to the ACC power and ground of the Rostra main harness. The tailgate camera can be powered from the ACC power output on the Rostra main harness. The Rostra interface module just connects in a loop with the Mylink screen. The reverse trigger comes from the Mylink screen wiring. The power and ground for the Rostra interface module come directly from the Mylink screen wiring. The distance grid on the screen curves as you turn the wheel just as the OEM camera does. It has a three year warranty and appears to be a good product. The install instructions are just very poorly documented. Do not connect any of the Rostra main harness wires to the BCM wires.
  9. Will do. Bob sent me the installation instructions for the Rostra system for the Mylink screen and a system using a Onstar mirror for the screen. The Mylink system appears, on paper, to be a somewhat easier install and I prefer using the Mylink screen. I'll post here when I get it up and running. It will probably sometime next week before I have he system in my hands.
  10. I went ahead and ordered the Rostra 250-8414-LC today without any other user information. It is advertised to work with the 4.2" and 8" screen. I purchased it from a dealer in Michigan. I have no association with Bob's Automotive Mirrors. I am just a customer. Bob was excellent in communication and more than willing to discuss various options to get a backup camera system for my truck. I'll report back after I get the system up and running. 11. I see where the Rostra model #250-8414-LC is advertised as a plug and play backup camera system that interfaces with the 4.2" Mylink screen. Do any of you have experience with this backup camera system? I would really like to hear of any experience with this system. I am considering buying it. http://www.rostra.com/2014-2015-silverado-sierra-lcd-screen-camera.php
  12. I gave it a try today. I drove at 65 to 70 miles per hour. windows down and under 7 overpasses. I did not hear any whistling. I 2015 2500HD LTZ passed me doing a few miles per hour more than me. I did not hear any whistle coming from the LTZ as it passed me. The whistle must not be something that happens will all of the 2015 HD's.
  13. I'll give it a try next week. I'll let you know if I hear the whistle.
  14. I have a 2015 2500 6.0 Chevy 4X4 crew cab with the old style black tow mirrors, XM antenna, no moon roof, no roof lights and no noise. Build date was in July 2014. This is the quietest truck I have ever owned. Or maybe my hearing is getting very bad. I hope you guys are able to figure this out.
